$10 is relatively a small amount. Is your capital investment ($10) fixed or are you planning to increase it over time ? Or may be invest on a monthly or regular basis ?
Anyway, If the amount is less that $100 then major part of your investment should be in bitcoin. If it is somewhere $100 - $500 then you should diversify your investment into 50%-70% in bitcoin and the rest in top coins like ether, EOS, ADA, Tron, BNB etc..

10$ is a very small amount but its good for new users. you can try some sandbox trading platforms for practicing your basic trading skills. there are many sites available for new users to get their trading skills. some sites you can try are altcoinfantasy.com and coins2learn.com their sole purpose is to teach you how to trade and they even give out rewards and cryptos at the end of your lesson.

If I were you, I'd use that $10 to buy a good book that could educate me on something good and relevant, like probably knowledge on business/investing/programming or whatever you have interest in.

Invest in a coin that are cheap currently, that $10 is still an investment although that is really a small amount.
Think like what a $10 bitcoin value during the early stage, and how much it worth now, but you have to wait longer with your investment to grow.

So better to look yourself: go on coinmarketcap and see altcoins, see their chart/history, read news around them because every hot news has big impact on coin's price. Honestly 10 dollars is so small that you might as well try your luck on ICO or IEO type of investments.

Otherwise you are not going to see anything in return, even putting that much money into an exchange will result with you losing most of it due to transaction fee. That is why you should try to join in on airdrops, bounties, faucets and signature campaigns and anything else you could find, that way you can increase that amount by working instead of investing, that will be much better option when you have 10 dollars.

$10 is enough to trade in an exchange, and that is the beauty of cryptocurrency.  You can enter the market with a really low budget.  One example is UTK in Huobi, the withdrawal of UTK in Huobi is only 2 UTK, current price is around $0.05, that is far from your stated $2. and I guess OP won't withdraw the coin he wanted to trade. He is there to trade it and if possible to make profit.

There are good projects out there but the capital needs to be a bit more good and not $10. This is not enough to make you a good candidate for profit in trading or speculation. See you have to look at the size of your assets as well. If they are too low, even a 2x rise will not be enough if you are for example having a small fraction of ETH. Better you enter with good capital to claim full profits and hence high returns.

With 10 dollars he need to find a way to buy some coins with the lowest possible fees. When he have just 10 dollars and he wish to trade, the best would be ethereum, definitely lower fees, or maybe even some other platform, like waves maybe, and trade on some of their platforms.
Anyway 10 dollars is very low, maybe it would be better for him to buy some coins he choose and test how it goes, than for some time to buy again and like that couple more times, he will increase his bankroll and he will learn some basic things.

If $10 is all he has, the best option would be for him to look for coins that he will hold other than the ones at the top 2o that will swallow his investment, there are coins that he can buy very cheap and continue to hold till it probably increases by 1500%, some coins are capable of yielding that during the bull run, and those are the only chances that he has.

For trading, there is nothing he can make out of that, he will just have to be patient to have more money like $50 to $100 for trading a very proper coin, or otherwise, he should try shitcoins and wait for the pump, probably he will get lucky enough to catch the pump that will multiply his coin to give him enough to start trading a proper coin.

make trade is something very risky and difficult and this task becomes more difficult when capital is very small. For example if you were doing daytrade and had decent capital with 3% profit target would be a very good and much easier to get profit, but imagine 3% of $10?

Hold is also a good strategy that becomes much better when investing a lot of money. for example if you bought 3 bitcoins for the price of $6000  and in 3 years the bitcoin price was  $30.000 then you would have made:  $30,000 X 3 BTC =  $90,000

Most of the coins I would have suggested the OP invest into are the top 20 coins that we have in the coinmarket and we still have some that are quite cheap for him to buy, like ADA, XLM, TRON IOTA and many more of them in the top 20, but he will need to be extremely patient for years before his little profit can really give him an good profit.

Maybe one of them will get him $1000 in 10 to 20 years to come, but if he is looking for quick profit with such amount, he might have to go gamble with it, or probably join Ponzi scheme, because there is absolutely no way any coin can give a fat profit with such low amount.

Firstly, $10 would not give you thousands of dollars of profits. The profit you can have with $10 might be maxed upto $50 that too in a very rare situation if the coin pumps to the highest peak ever. Also investing $10 would make you lose much of the trading fees itself and you can expect losing $2-$3 into the transaction fees from the start to end so what you will have in hand excluding all the debts will be $6-$7.

Now, most of the exchanges would not accept this small amount as they are having some minimum deposit and withdraw. You have to find a exchange and a coin which is suitable for lower capital investments. This might be difficult but not impossible. Good luck to start your trading career no matter with the amount.

Lower price coins are always good to invest with smaller amounts as the profits there would be noticeable. Imagine investing $10 in bitcoins and waiting for bitcoins to be on the highest peak ever to have profit of $30 (considered price for bitcoins will grow 3x with huge risk? This might not be affordable but investing in some coins who have their value in satoshi's might always prove to be beneficial at least with the smaller values.

Doge is a good reputable and old coin in the cryptocurrency world so you can invest into that coin for mid-term and can buy/sell simultaneously on the price high/low. If you are good in simultaneous trades, then I am sure that you can at least 5x your investment and can have benefits from small capital also.

These coins are good for long term investment and not short term as they have no much volatility in their market, so op may not be able to do much with DOGE, because what the op want to do with the $10, is to look for a coin he can use it to trade with and make an increase, but as it seems now, I think he may not get any chance of trading on any coin with that small amount of money.

LOL, I think  op wants real investment and not what he can use to practice, what if op is a student and just trying to multiply his little savings to help his family out, so I think buying top rank coins will really consumed his money, but he can still look for some potential coins that have low value that has the tendency of shooting above 100% during the bull run, there was a coin that I saw in coinmarketcap recently that increased by almost 440%, which means by now, if he had invested in such coin, he might be getting about $55 dollars now, which would have been enough for him to start trading bitcoin.
