not all altcoins will die. maybe history like 2017 will repeat itself. right now I think big altcoins might like ethereum, xrp and others will still be able to survive if altcoin is priced at $ 100k but altcoin with low prices, low volume and also less interested. will definitely fall
Altcoin will loss its value and it's possible. You must not take the old history of the altcoin as a good information to determine where will the market be going on as so many experts have been doing the same and they are all getting failed to predict where is the direction of the market. altcoin will loss its value, it is possible altcoin will increase its value, it is possible too if we dont take from history, then what is function of technical analysis? if some people fail, it doesn't mean all people failed too. every analysis is to predict almost right, not to be 100% right. that's what should we know

but what we have to know is that even technical analysis cannot provide 100% success. the market has growth that even we cannot predict with technical analysis. all happens with a market will. prediction is only a speculation based on our analysis. something might happen, it might not happen. we still have to prepare for all that.

Many said in 2017 that Bitcoin would cost $100k in 2020, but it seems to me that Bitcoin can only grow to $100k in decades.

I am pretty sure that 98% of altcoins will Die anyway. no matter if Bitcoin Price increase to that point or not. Altcoins are going to die. maybe some major altcoins manage to survive. only 1% or 2%. and rest of them will vanish. and I think Bitcoin will a lot of time to reach $100k. maybe it take 2 to 5 more years. that's my point of view.

All altcoins will fall into a state of near death, instead of dying completely as you say when the value of bitcoin reaches too high because bitcoin is the main root of all altcoins, the relationship is extremely special, and when this stem needs nutrients to go higher and farther, it will certainly use small tree roots to suck nutrients, altcoins are those roots, it will not die but must work over capacity. Such a tragedy could be called hell in the crypto market, no longer able to keep people from staying, so investors will try to keep a balance if they want to keep making money, instead of creating such a scene, that's my opinion

I also agree with your opinion, the chance for the altcoins is very low. From the statistical probability theories, the probability of surviving in the bear market is less than 10% according to my own research based on the tehcnical&fundamental analysis. The $100K BTC price means the market will turn its colour to green for a long time after the bear market but I doubt the altcoins will follow the BTC.

Maybe altcoins that doesn't have good volume might gets vanished, but the chances were very low in my opinion. If there happens a situation where bitcoin reaches $100k surely the trend will be followed by the altcoins, but this will get limited within specific margin. Beyond that the growth gets terminated. Each and every altcoin that are in the top are updated with the network which means those altcoins will serve the users and won't go vanished upon the Bitcoin's growth.

Bitcoin Boom to $100K Will Destroy Altcoins, Predicts [random 'expert']
Obviously I'm not an expert, but still these predictions from random people are a bit irritating. And 'crypto venture capital firm led by Wall Street veteran' actually means 'venture capital firm led by Wall Street veteran, who is now getting involved in crypto'. He makes no acknowledgement of use-case at all, it's purely price-based, which is nonsense. Crypto hinges on use-case, it's not just abstract assets with no purpose beyond speculation (well, apart from BCH :p ). If he really thinks that bitcoin, or any one coin, will miraculously be able to fulfill every use-case better than any other coin, then he has no understanding of how wide and extensive crypto use-cases can be, and so I would treat his predictions as nonsense.

not at all..altcoins most likely will hype as well when bitcoin price is up.. that's the only time they can recover and those altcoins are dependent on bitcoin price..

Maybe it is the truth! Bitcoin dominance will cross 90% if Bitcoin price hits 100K USD, but not every altcoin will crash, the reputed one will have strong supporters then. Bitcoin can't do it alone, so (we need altcoins too. I think ETH, LTC, EOS, NEO, XLM, BNB, and some others will remain strong and their price will be huge too! But most of the altcoins will lose people's interest and will go in vain!

There is a possibility that this statement is true and might happen because the pumped of bitcoin before seemed to be doomed for other altcoins. Most of huge investors sell their coin just to exchange with bitcoin. Imagine, if it rise up to 100K usd then definitely more whales to come up. However, there are still altcoins that will survive. Specially, if they pump also by their own supporters.

There was a time in which the bitcoin dominance was above 90% and if I remember correctly many good coins already existed at that time so it is not something impossible to achieve especially since people have lost confidence in the altcoin market and if bitcoin was really trying to reach 100,000 dollars then it is completely understandable that people are going to sell their altcoins to try to join the rally that at that time bitcoin will be enjoying, so I think it could be possible that something like that actually happened.

It's clear that Bitcoin won't grow so fast to $100k, and when it does, it's clear that alts will grow with it, and Bitcoin won't destroy alts in that case.

I think BTC has all chances rich 100k in this year (may after halving closer end of the year). But it will not destroy alts. With BTC bullrun a lot of new investors will come to market and start pump alts too.

why should that happen? whether the bitcoin rises or falls has only partly something to do with the existence of altcoins. so a statement like the alts die when the btc reaches 100k is absolutely unfounded.

I will not be so sure that is the scenario that we are going to see, it is entirely possible that if bitcoin happens to go through a bull run and altcoins do not move at all because people are not going to be interested to invest in them especially when bitcoin is giving so huge profits, I know this is hard to believe but we saw something similar happening during last year in which even if many altcoins went up in value in terms of dollars they went down in terms of bitcoin.
