The following happened and people talks about HACK everywhere:

- WITHDRAWALS WERE STOPPED
- 7000 BTC left Binance's HOT wallet
Te following twitter appeared AFTER people noticed something was going wrong:

"Have to perform some unscheduled server maintenance that will impact deposits and withdrawals for a couple hours.  No need to FUD.  Funds are #safu."
https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1125839310891053057

The fact is that something strange happened.. and if a vulnerability was found and exploited, there can be more..
I dont care for the SAFU.. luckily i withdrawed my funds and sold all my BNB months ago after upset of market manipulation (IEOs/ ICOs) (see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5137326.msg50820783#msg50820783)

UDPATE: hacking confirmed..And now the worst part

He told about manipulating worlds ledger for a roll back.
https://www.coindesk.com/binance-may-consider-bitcoin-rollback-following-40-million-hack

if id didnt liked Binance before.. now i really hate it. If he was hacked, then it is CZs problem. He shouldnt allow this to happen, and there is also a Safu  for this scenerio. He shoudln't had ever mentioned or just ever though about a rollback. Absolutely innaceptable. This is the corner stone of crypto. Inmutability! Otherwise it will be about a manipulable ledger and there wouldnt be any trust at all. We all know what happened last time with something like this... ETH/ETC.

Not only was hacked,He just betrayed crypto spirit and basics... and a clear sign how big his manipulation can reach

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Ehhh....yeah.  I just deposited something like 0.012BTC into my Binance account, and then everything is suddenly suspended and the deposit never showed up.  No notifications on their website, and I don't use Twitter so I'm glad I saw your post, OP.

Hopefully things will get up and running again fairly soon.  Binance has a good reputation among exchanges, but you just never know with any of them.

Not only the fact that this maintenance was UNSCHEDULED but also, that there was NO announcement prior to lot of users asking in telegram channels and rest of social media.. BY the bay, dont ever say anything negative in any binance telegram's channel or social media.. they Will kick your ass from the group in 0,1 seconds

I have kicked from some exchange sites telegram group caused by created a negative criticism about the problem that happened to me.
but the latest news has already published a few hours ago

https://cryptobriefing.com/binance-promises-to-cover-7000-btc-lost-in-hack/

it will be so easy for binance to cover all of the loses remember it's got a billion revenues in a year. Sadly there was no ETA when the maintenance will be done. I have few BTCs left on my wallet and i'm feeling worry right now.  Cry

It could be a real hack or just a way to try to promote their DEX exchange and to manipulate the market. Nobody can really know what really happened. It is better to not put all your money on an exchange. It should not be very difficult to find the hackers wallet addresses if they lose only Bitcoin. Except if the hackers have immediately exchanges them anonymously.

If they told us that there is "something strange" happened then so be it, besides, we don't have any choice but to believe. Honestly, I can't sense that they are up into something simply because their excellent reputation is at risk if they do even a little shady stuff right there (maybe there is really a security breach). I'm pretty sure they still choose continuous profits of their exchange over the 7000 btc in their storage so don't panic guys, all of you are in the safe hands Smiley.

What would we expect? Everything bad happens whenever the bitcoin price are blooming right?

And why just this small amount in binance had being hacked?why not the totality? Does this sounds or looks like fishy?

But either way, bitcoin is standing strong and didn't distracted by this sudden event and i believe that this only boost the prices lol

They only hacked this small amount because that is all they can get from hot wallets via phishing and api hacks. Better dump BNB Tokens before everyone else does, soon as it opens!

That won't help the situation mate,we know how great binance did in terms of growth and bo doubt that it will recovered instantly so there is no need to rush.and besides cryptocurrency market is volatile and can change direction each time so better wait for the right time and hold for now

seems you dont get the picture:

1) lack of transparency. CZ knew what happened and delayed the announcement of the hack
2) manipulation/monopoly... CZ suggest a roll-back of BTC.. wtf?¿?!¿?!¿?

Finally they admitted to the hack,,, I TOLD people every exchange gets hacked! Every time, people think the big exchange is the most trusted and they believe the CEO CZ when he says they have the best security in the world, and now hackers remind people WHY you should store your funds offline! People will never learn. This will not result in customer losses as Binance can afford 7k BTC but trust me,,, if it happens big time again, we see another Mt Gox.

I really canT understand that any of you could still support this mafia... how the hell could he just mention about a roll back?¿ if blockchian can be manipulated, i will just sell all and leva emy money in the bank again.

On Wednesday (May 8, 06:29 UTC), just hours after digital asset exchange Binance had announced that it had been hacked and suffered a loss of around 7000 bitcoins, its CEO, Changpeng Zhao (aka "CZ") said that, after consultation with several prominent members of the crypto community, Binance had decided not to attempt a rollback on the Bitcoin network in order to recover the stolen BTC.

The idea of attempting a rollback does seem quite shocking, effectively Binance launching their own 51% attack.
Thankfully they decided against it and mentioned that it would damage the credibility of bitcoin. The question remains though as to whether they would seriously try this if the losses they suffered had been much larger... the inference has to be that they would - with bigger losses, they would surely be more likely to attempt a rollback.

Big exchange with enough crypto coins to lose so it will become a main target for more advanced abuses. This event should shake anyone awake to not keep large amounts on any exchange. Makes you worry who is next...
