By looking for an old post from me, I came across a five year old thread that has a title that is very unusual.

Which is so extraordinary the title overlaps another post. I looked at it with a Chromium-based browser, as well as with Firefox, and both have this effect. Is that a bug in the forum software?

It's not really a bug. These are just a few special characters that do this (called glitch text).

Someone just tried to use a special kind of characters to probably attract attention. Not sure it's a bug just like the Persian characters which are written from right to left and therefore end up affecting the position of the topic title and page numbers.
The Characters the author of the title used are written in a vertical direction and thus end up overlapping the posts.

It’s Zalgo text, which is a result of combining multiple Unicode characters. Unicode permits creating new characters by adding 2 or more together (i.e. diacritical marks or accents), but Zalgo text takes it a step further than that originally intended.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combining_character.

Regardless of how funny it is, if a glitch overlaps with another post, it should be reported since it makes it hard to read the other post.

Quote from: theymos
If glitch text like that intrudes on other posts, report it. If it stays within the post's area, then it's not a problem.

Thanks!

In all the years I've been active here, I've seen this for the first time. That's why I thought it was something unusual, maybe a bug.
It should be stopped anyway. Just imagine such signs are becoming a trend.
