A hacker has been hacking into many accounts on Github and has been wiping out the code repository for various accounts.
The hacker has demanded bitcoins in return for the backup of the code repository. Other services like Bitbucket and Gitlab had faced same issues.
Microsoft is still silent on these attacks and has confirmed that there was a security breach in their web services like Outlook, Hotmail and MSN.
While Gitlab and Bitbucket say that the hacker compromised the accounts with proper Usernames and Passwords, Microsoft say that this might be due to the security breach.
It's unusual to see a developers playground getting hacked. The hacker must be greatly skilled to challenge such a tech giant and accomplish to execute a ransomware attack.

Sure, I have updated the post with the links I referred to before making the post.
Also, I read about the Binance hack too and I was really surprised to see binance getting hacked despite all those security firms binance had partnered with recently.
Although Binance is using it's SAFU to recover the funds, it is still unsafe to trust any of the exchanges.

Thanks, I just realized that the news was just a little bit late and was not posted in bitcointalk.

I also thought of storing my coins in an exchange, well in fact now that a trusted exchange was hacked, I can't trust on any exchange now on storing my own money.

I doubt the blame lies on Github, and I doubt the hackers were that skilled.

People have stop using the same password on more than one site!

So, more phishing and malware? Not actual security breaches but social engineering?

According to sources it was just one hacker who did all of these.

I feel that the hacker used social engineering and created phishing sites to fetch the user name and passwords and then must have breached into Microsoft's web services.
He would have collected all the data from there and then would have  hacked into Github. This is the second time a ransomware attack is been executed on Microsoft.

For a Senior member account, you must be aware of the risk in putting your coins and tokens in an exchange for longer time

Always take out your currencies in every exchange you use after the trading has done in this case you can prevent from being victim of hacking because our wallet are more secure than exchangers
