Rohit Sharma firing? What are you talking about? Rohit has been in poor form recently which we could clearly observe in the IPL and the ongoing warm up matches. Batsmen like MSD, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul are in epic form currently.

If these guys get going, 500 would definitely be on the cards. India also have players like Kohli, Jadeja and Dhawan along with Sharma who can perform well if they manage to retain their form.

About the Last match between India vs New Zealand

I saw many fans saying that Indian batsmen performed very poorly which is 100% true, but everyone failed to see or avoid to mention that it was seaming-dark green wicket with the cloud over the head during the first inning — best condition for bowlers to bawl. Indian Captain Virat intentionally chose to bat first so that Indian batting can come under the microscope, and in this test, they failed miserably without any doubt. ( here I see Intent and awareness from Virat Kohli. which is a perfect sign for Indian Team)

And if seaming condition comes into play in the World cup, then every team going to struggle like that, not just India. Winning the toss is very important if it happens. And everybody knows, the Indian Bowling attack is no dummy as it used to be in the past.

Not sure about finalist atm because everything can happen in the Semis. In case India reaches the final, then my bet on India doesn't matter who their opponent is.

I would add New Zealand and South Africa to your list and I don't think that the remaining five teams have the capability to reach the semi-final stage. West Indies and Pakistan can be the dark horses, but they are too inconsistent. On top of that Pakistan is going through a lean patch right now. The last team I am going to mention is Afghanistan. They may not be able to reach the semis, but they are capable of an upset or two in this edition.

BTW, I made my first bet in favor of England for the opening match.

Honestly speaking I am not liking the pitch in UK. These pitches has nothing for the bowlers. If they keep doing everything for the batsmen then some day like someone said, we will not see fast bowlers instead we will see the bowling machine and the captain is selecting in the machine which ball will have which length and line.

If 481 is possible (England vs Australia, Nottingham, 19 June 2018), then definitely 500 is also possible. There was a time when any total above 300 used to be considered as an exception. But now if a team scores below 350 in 50 overs, that is considered as an exception. And this has destroyed the quality of bowling. We no longer see bowlers of the calibre of Glenn McGrath, Shane Warne, or Alan Donald.

What i meant to say is that if he is firing, i know he is in poor form and so is the reason i mentioned if Rohit Sharma is firing he could score huge runs as he is the record holder for the most double centuries. I never thought KL Rahul will be in the playing eleven in the world cup a few months back, but how quickly things have changed and with the poor form of openers i think we might see some changes in the playing eleven.

South Africa will not be probably able to lose England because of England's current performance as well as their benefit of playing on home ground. However, South Africa also deserves the win, I hope match will be interesting.

The reason I chose South Africa is primarily due to their awesome bowling lineup which consists of players like Rabada, Steyn(Injured, but might return soon), Tahir and Ngidi who can dominate the opposition on their day.

I admit that England has a better batting lineup when compared to South Africa currently, but their lineup is not as strong as the South African bowling lineup. Also, I am not expecting any major upsets in the first round.
