Since when can auctions in the collectibles not be done in btc? Because I can remember trying to host an auction there with bidding not being done in BTC and I was told by multiple people I couldn't do that. But now I look at auctions in the collectibles section and I see a ton that aren't in btc.
So can I get some clarification of when this rule changed?

Collectibles (child board of Goods) - Trades of physical collectible items ("Including physical Bitcoin coins" as the board's subtext states). If you are selling these collectibles on another site (e.g. have an online store), it doesn't belong here. I was never under the impression that Collectible threads had to be using Bitcoin as a payment method. I just assumed that the threads in the collectible sections had to be related to Bitcoin Collectibles, not necessarily BTC for collectibles or vice versa. Although staff in the past have stated that any marketplace threads require that BTC be an accepted payment.

Usually Altcoin related sales should be done in the Altcoin section's (like Marketplace). Regular sections are meant for just Bitcoin. However, this rule was never really strictly enforced from what I remember. I've removed people accepting only USD in Digital Goods, since well, this is Bitcointalk, not USDTalk. With collectible Altcoin items I feel like it's even more iffy, since you wouldn't want to break up the (already small) collectible section.
I always assumed that accepting an Altcoin is fine, as long as you are open for payment in Bitcoin as well.

As a newbie to the collectibles, but experienced in other types Of sales, I would expect to pay/buy in btc. But if someone is selling a Monero, litecoin, ethereum collectible etc, I would immediately think they would want payment in that particular coin..........OR bitcoin. If I was unsure I would ask the seller what they’re preferred payment method was. No major problem, if I didn’t have any ether atm , I would quite happily ask if the seller it they would take btc . Obviously btc is the main player , but most sellers are conducive to SALES .

To be clear: Charlie Lee, Creator of Litecoin and subject of killyou's idiotic thread here is auctioning a few physical litecoins. Charlie is accepting bids in LTC, payment in LTC or BTC. Killyou is very much a net negative to our community. I have tried to support him in the past, as he needs it, but he continues to prove to be an inconsiderate asshole.

coblee recently posted he also accepts BTC and I told him to include that info in the OP, next time feel free to report similar topics. I always assumed that accepting an Altcoin is fine, as long as you are open for payment in Bitcoin as well.
Yes, that has always been the case (since altcoins were first used on bitcointalk).

Yes, that has always been the case (since altcoins were first used on bitcointalk). I can appreciate the rules. What is unfortunate is that if anyone ever went into altcoins marketplace thread its littered with garbage. Nothing can actually be sold in there. So there's the problem. I do agree rules are rules but if anyone ever wanted to actually sell something in there it would 99% be unsuccessful because no one is selling any goods in there. I think the last person to successfully sell something in there on a regular basis was smoothie and they were LTC coins he accepted btc for Edit: case in point the 1st post in there is a thread named "what do people think about bounty now" and it has 5 pages of comments!! Edit: the top thread on page one is "where do you trade your altcoin" has 10 pages and 6000 views....hows is that marketplace when the top 2 threads on page one makes zero sense to be in marketplace

Was just a casual comment, explaining why maybe coblee didnt put it in the altcoin marketplace. You mods do a good job on here, it's tough wading through the forum waters without touching shit everywhere you go...keep on keeping on

Interesting thing for myself and maybe yourself , I’ve never seen you post here in the time ive been been in collectibles -only a few months admittedly- but that , mustbe a massively positive thing for all, especially in this sub section. If members in the collectibles can agree with common sense the aggregate rules of the sub section , then let it be !

Normally I prefer to send PMs, but in this instance since more than once person had doubts about forum rules it was more convenient to make a post to clear the confusion. I'll also admit I'm not personally hugely interested in most of collectibles being sold or auctioned on bitcointalk, so it's not often that I browse that section.
