Electrum 3.0.5 not syncing. Upgrading seems impossible

I'm running Electrum 3.0.5 on OS X 10.10. Electrum has been "synchronizing..." for over 24 hours and a recent transfer that is visible on blockexplorer still isn't showing up in the wallet.
I've tried manually unchecking "select server automatically" and choosing different servers, but this doesn't work (result is either the same endless sync or "not connected").
I've tried upgrading to newer versions of electrum: 3.3.5, 3.3.3, 3.3.2, 3.2.3, 3.2.2, 3.1.3, but they all hang during the initial app launch. I also tried version 3.0.6 but "it is not supported on this type of Mac."
Another weird thing I noticed is that when I open Electrum 3.0.5 it appears that 2 instances of the application start running (visible in the activity monitor). One of these instances always hangs.
Installing a new OS isn't an option right now. Is there anything I can do other than export my keys and use a different wallet?

Older versions won't sync. Unless you can get a newer version running, you'll need to export your keys and use a different wallet.

Sadly, I don't think you can get newer versions running without a lot of messing about with installing newer versions of Python and associated libraries like PyQt etc. There are other threads on here with users on OSX 10.10 having similar problems.

alibaba725, since updating of OS is not an option only solution is to import your seed / private keys to some other wallet. But as far as I am aware Electrum seed will only work in Electrum, so only mobile version of this wallet can help you in case you want to recover wallet via seed.

I'm not sure that developers will fix this issue, for them problem is in outdated OS, but you can try to open thread in Electrum GitHub.

Thanks. The mobile wallet might actually be a viable short term solution until I update OS.

alibaba725, we should look at the mobile version as something simpler or maybe better to say as version that is mostly focused on payments, and which is missing some features that have a desktop version. That's why you are likely found some opinions regarding Electrum android, people in some cases expect that desktop and mobile version should be identical in all its features.


A word of advice, you can edit your previous post instead of creating a new one

you can export your private keys via wallet menu > private keys > export. you only do this if you're migrating to different software. if you're looking to use electrum on android instead then just restore from seed there.
