Well, satoshi did not intend bitcoin to be viewed as an investment tool. However, people and it's supporters did. We cannot blame them since bitcoin provided an opportunity to earn thru bitcoin investment and trading. As time goes by, the number of people using it as an alternative to cash or medium of exchange is increasing since some businesses and service provider are adapting cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.

People use it as a oxymoron, it does not make sense to me. I still love Bitcoin tho.

We have different views about it of course, I believe Satoshi didn't expect the price to boom as high as this but he only believes on his product. Right now, everyone see this one as a great investment because of the pump and dump prices they make profit on this. We don't miss anything with bitcoin I honestly use this one on my few transactions online but I'm also a hodler because I believe the price will be more expensive with bitcoin.

Santoshi developed a peer to peer payment system that don't require third party or financial institutions yes, but this system operate within an environment which is the exchange market where it has to compete with other commodities in price because it a currency and a means of exchange of goods and services. An at this moment bitcoin as a volatile commodity is do great in terms of price and users have found it profiting and are holding for it profits ability which is call investment.

Can you really blame people for being greedy? Just look at the price history since 2009 and show me one person out there that would not like a massive return on their investment like that. A break like that would seal most people's future and take them out of poverty and middle class, if they can cash in on a profit like that.

The people sharing Satoshi's vision, live in countries where they are forced to use "centralized" payment options and where alternative payment options are needed the most.  Wink

Yes I can, yes I can.  If they wanted to be greedy tho they would just hold btc, they are just fools. They are literally trading real money(btc, backed by work) for monopoly money and expecting to get their real money back in the future for cheaper with the monopoly money they gained LOL, there is a reason people are trading $9000 for 1 btc, it will be $90000 for 1 btc, when you wake up one day overnight. (CAD I am in Canada)

The more BTC we let out to the system of fiat, the more the bankers win and governments that have en$laved us win.

Hold the line.

enjoying the profit that bitcoin gives you has nothing to do with "seeing" bitcoin as a currency. there are lots of people who truly believe in the potential of bitcoin and the financial sovereignty that it is giving them but at the same time they see the potential profit that one can gain by getting in on bitcoin train while it is still early and we have not reached mass adoption. i don't see anything wrong with that.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

This is pretty accurate.Maybe that's why Satoshi left the bitcoin community.Bitcoin was turned into a market speculation tool. His vision about pure peer-to-peer transactions never happened.Nowadays everything in the crypto world is about crypto exchange platforms are crypto trading.

We have different views and perception of cryptocurrency.
Satoshi made it as a mode of payment but it would not succeed if people didn't support and appreciate its function.
People see it's importance and value so they see it as a profitable investment. Satoshi has done his part and bitcoin plays multiple roles in every user's life.

I agree. Who doesn't want crazy money? I was always fascinated by the concept of Bitcoin and the tech behind it myself, but I admit that profit was always a major motivator for me.

Majority of the investors view BTC as an asset primarily and currency secondarily which needs to be reversed by improving adoption rates and educating investors.

Satoshi or anyone who founded/ created bitcoin may have had an idea that this may happen but not in this scale especially as early as 2017. Nobody expected bitcoin to boom that way in the first place. Though he or they should be holding money beyond their wildest dreams lol. But one thing's for sure, their vision for btc would likely be realized in a few more years. As long as the value moves this way, people will see it as a means to make money.

Seriously, is this still related to OP? It's more like you're talking economics and politics here.

Indeed like they leave no option but to use it more than a currency and less than investment not unless they're rich and afford to hold significant amount.

Economics and Politics are kind of tied into this bitcoin discussion

Damn that sucks they are forced to use it? someone comes up to them and forces them to use their national currency? or do they use it willingly? (weather you have 100000 btc or 0.00000001 btc it does not matter)

Money has been the most powerful motivation tool on earth for centuries! Therefore, we must not underestimate the effect of money on people. Yes, Satoshi has created something perfect for people to work for, but we don't know if he did it for money!

A system of money is useless when there is no value/information being transferred. I highly doubt Satoshi thought speculation would not happen, in fact, it is essential to the process of the system being used and gaining adoption.

Yes, bitcoin is a new incarnation of digital money incorporating blockchain technology, a veritable revolution. But bitcoin can coexist and thrive with fiat currencies. There will always be a use for cash. For example, if the power grid goes down due to a natural disaster, cash can be handy.
