This is not possible. You can only exchange BTC for XMR (buy / sell).
Your problem is that your transaction hasn't been received (BTC). Try to be as precise as possible.

the exchange told the transaction got into the orphan block. We didn't receive the funds.

Which exchange did you use?
Do you have the transaction ID for us ?

If a transaction gets included into a block, which then won't be part of the longest chain, it is called an orphaned block.
Since the block is not part of the longest chain, it is not confirmed. But usually those transaction from orphaned blocks will be put back into the mempool (which leads to them confirm a few blocks later anyway).

If your client (core / electrum / which wallet are you using ? ) is up-to-date, it should already show that you still have the funds available.

It is possible that this is just an excuse and you got scammed. Usually they automatically will confirm after being orphaned (given that the fee isn't way too low).
Did you use a non-reputable, less-known exchange ?

Which exchange are you using?

I didn´t get exactly what happened. Can you be more precise?

Did you receive bitcoin in your balance in the exchange, right? then you withdrawal bitcoin to your personal wallet. But the funds never arrived there, and the exchange told you that your balance will be restored in the exchange wallet?

Take a look at the exchange balance, you will may have to withdrawal again, as they said your funds will be returned.

You haven't provided enough details, but it looks to me like you were scammed.

First, it would be helpful to know the name of the exchange.

Second, the statement, "the transaction got into the orphan block. We didn't receive the funds. the funds will be returned to you by the network." doesn't make sense.

Third, it would be helpful to know the transaction id of the transaction in which you sent the BTC to the exchange, or perhaps the receiving address. You can look up the transaction id in a block explorer to see if the exchange received the funds or not.

The details are needed - what means sending BTC to XMR? Orphaned blocks are not a part of the main blockchain. They can occur when two miners produce blocks at the same time or can be caused by an attacker (with enough hashing power) attempting to reverse transactions.
