Bitcoin Winter: Can We Prevent it From Happening Again?

The year 2017 especially in its last quarter was the last time that bitcoin made its famous bull run but after that we experienced the bitcoin winter for much of 2018 and into the last few months of 2019. Now, we are officially on the bull run though we are not yet back to the 2017 level  relative to the price and the marketcap. Many analysts are now predicting that this around there is the big potential for bitcoin to test the waters beyond what was achieved in 2017 and if this will happen then it would be another historic mark for bitcoin.

I am wondering, do you think the same bitcoin winter can occur after the bull run? And can there be things that can prevent it from happening? Will history just repeat itself?

With huge price rises comes price consolidation, which is pretty much inevitable regardless of what kind of markets. So, yes.

It's hard to predict what could really happen with all the surrounding news and the communities that are circling Bitcoin, hopefully, all the people could do is to predict and hope that they are on the right side of the market.

What could prevent stuff from happening is the people themselves, as long as someone is thinking that it would go down and another one that it could go up, there would be no equal thing and would just continue just like that in the world that we live in. No same thoughts, there would always be a counterpart or something. That's just my opinion.

With furious surges come furious corrections. For as long as crypto continues to be volatile, winters are inevitable. If these could be stopped, I'm sure large players would have been more than happy to keep them from happening.
 
As far as this bull run goes, it has been quite tame, so I'm not expecting any whiplash of the sort. There are no cataclysmic events like Mt. Gox either. Growth could stall, but I don't think it would be anywhere near significant enough to be called a winter.

What comes up must go down, and it also holds true for assets of any class, especially bitcoin. Once people can't buy the absurdly high price of cryptocurrencies anymore, those who have it on top will now begin to sell at bargain prices, causing a domino effect up until the price falls by a significant percent. This is inevitable because you can't expect the price to continuously go up and people to pour money on it continuously. The money has to go somewhere and be poured on to other assets/things.

Asking how to prevent it is like asking how to prevent the stock option to crash. There is no way to prevent it again, otherwise, it means you are among people able to manipulate the market. I remember 5-6 years back when the price failed from $1000 to $200. Exactly like it did in Dec 2017. (even the same month) then we had to wait until 2016 to finally see something.

the "bear" market which you are referring to as "winter" is a part of the market and it has been so for any other market too. you can't prevent things like that which are natural from happening again! that is kind of a duality of the market.

the only thing that we can prevent from happening is the prolonged bear market that lasts for many months, up to a year like the previous 2 times in 2018 and 2014. to do that we need a much bigger market with more packed order books so that it can't be manipulation and more importantly it can't swing up and down whenever there is a big surge of buyers or sellers.

Joking aside, a situation where the value goes up and up with no correction, no nothing, has to end somewhere, and it's not going to be a "winter" is going to be the moment when it simply makes no sense for BTC to have a higher value.
At some point, we will stop having bull runs after every flat price period.

No we couldn't because we couldn't control everyone to hold their crypto and don't sell it off,
And we couldn't possible beat their buy order to maintain the price it would need a lot of money to do it,
So it is impossible to prevent the Bitcoin winter from coming.

There is a lot more volume behind crypto now compared to 2017, that will help tremendously, we still haven't experienced the crazy moves that happened in 2017 yet, this bull run is far more sustainable than the last but there is no question that something similar will eventually happen again. When we break 20k and real FOMO starts to settle in, another massive crash will eventually occur, then again it's part of the market, looking at monthly/yearly charts you can see bitcoin being in an uptrend even with the huge crashes.

No one knows what will happen bro, but i'm sure people already learnt what will happen after the market increase and they will anticipate it.

I think history just repeat itself and it's common to happen, after a big pump there will be a big crash too. Of course i hope it will not happen again but we can't predict what happen.

All can happen again to bitcoin, because the price fluctuates. Bitcoin has experienced winter many times since it was created, in 2014, in 2018, and sometime it happened again. But calm down because this is normal, and no one can prevent this natural market movement. Believe that bitcoin will continue to grow and I am very sure now, the situation will be over in 2017.

I do agree with your points. There is no guarantee that the crypto winter will ever return since no one can accurately predict anything in this market. If adoption rates fly to the sky, we may never see one ever again. Time will tell for sure.

This is a typical thing that happens after every bubble. Cryptocurrencies are not special on that side. The real point is to make BTC survive such issues.
For example, take a look at dotcom bubble. Many companies got big MC for nothing and after this bubble they got bankrupt while some decent companies also lost a lot MC but they keep operating and the most successful ones got all those money back.
So in our case most of those dead conpanies are different shitcoins and good ones are like BTC. Let Bitcoin be an Amazon of the crypto world.

you are misusing the term winter which is always refers to the altcoin dumping season where they all get dumped and "freeze to death" during that winter time when everyone sells them and exists and a large percentage of them drop to zero and stop existing.

what we have in bitcoin is a bear market which is mostly an excellent opportunity to take your profit out and then start accumulating more bitcoin for the next run.

There are different theories coming out bit as for me, Bitcoin could repeat itself and many people believe in it which may manipulate its value as they just go with the flow. We can't take control of the market's volatility and as of now, it just follows the demand of users.

If we are going to look at it's past historical logs, I would say, No, there will be cycles of bears/bulls. Also, we have to take in consideration that we have a important event every four years, that is the block halving. This is a big contributory factor as to why we are going to see repeat of previous patterns. Bulls/bears, bubble/burst, getting rekt/going to the moon.

Everything could happen unexpectedly.
We all know that Bitcoin is always surprising and it could reach the unexpected value anytime but we can't control and manipulate the market.
It could rise and drop down anytime with or without following our theories so we should deal with it.

With the wider adoption and growing popularity, the volatility can potentially be much weaker than we have it now. Instead of 80% drops to e.g. 40%.
Another thing which deepened the crypto winter was the ban for advertising by big corporations for the most of the companies and products related to cryptocurrency environment. If you cannot promote something (even as speaking of information purposes), it is a niche, which is more vulnerable.

But still, we will see bull and bear markets over and over again, just as on stock market. This is a feature which is directly linked to investing as such and you cannot avoid it.
