Is May 22 the unofficial bitcoin holiday?

CBS seems to think so.  They are featuring a discussion about bitcoin this weekend on their weekly news show 60 Minutes.  Anderson Cooper interviewed Laszlo Hanyecz for the episode, and asked him about his request to purchase pizza with bitcoin back in May, 2010.  Nine years later that's looking like a really really expensive pizza.

The show is scheduled to air this Sunday.

You can do right now as bitcoin price is $7,900 Grin
Yes, that is the moment that will not be forgotten for that person because he spent too much bitcoin for just buying pizza.
If he knows that bitcoin will be worth like today, I am sure he will not buying pizza using bitcoin, and he will save the amount for the pizza in his wallet.
But that happened in the past, he can remember for what he's done in the past, and he can tell the story for his kid or his grandson.

That was historical and unforgettable. I'm sure that no one would buy a single box if pizza if the price is 1 btc. Everything really happens for a purpose. It's unexpected that the price could rise this far when it was just requested to switch for a pizza before.

The day is very significant and the receiver of the 10,000BTC for a pizza must be someone full of faith. Hahaha, I wish I knew about this at that stage, I should have been financially free now, maybe I would have turned a financial adviser, these days, bitcoin is still cheap.

this comment and the usual statement mentioning "most expensive pizza" is a clear indication of the major differences between people's view towards bitcoin.
in early years (like the pizza time!) people weren't thinking of bitcoin as an investment to become rich by holding it. they were instead seeing bitcoin as a currency, a decentralized one that changed their lives. and that is why 10k bitcoin was spent that easily.

That pizza story is now a very famous and important history of bitcoin and indeed that could be the most expensive pizza ordered so far. This is now one of the many good memories which many of bitcoin lovers know and we are always mesmerized thinking about it. I am glad to see the 60 Minutes talking to the guy for their show...highlighting bitcoin and its continuing ascent in the market.

What if the unofficial will become official someday knowing that bitcoin nowadays become more popular especially to those people who earned a living coming from bitcoin. Buying a pizza using a bitcoin is very interesting news that I heard once I am still a newbie.

Spending millions of money just to buy a pizza is a very crazy move especially if we are the one to judge from the situation. But this happening also help me to understand well how important to become patient and trust the currencies that we think has the potential to grow someday.

Then the bull market must indeed be back, if the nocoiners are acknowledging one of Bitcoin's memes as a serious, historical occasion.

Or is it just a ruse by the whalecumulators? Cool

Well, by those days none could've thought of bitcoin to be a potential asset. Earlier bitcoin was given as giveaway, and with that people tend to make use of the same on something that is useful. In such a way only bitcoin seems to get used on purchase of pizza. It is all about the time and even the early investors bought and kept hold not as an investment, but on some random choice.

When I comment on this issue, I always think of not coming to the same situation in the future. Think about it, Bitcoin 100K though all the trades that you make with BTC today will mean big moves in the future.

I have already heard that an opportunity is being prepared to pay for cryptocurrency goods, but at first I thought that it was another fake. But if it’s possible to buy on Amazon with crypto so why not pizza?

That's the reason why we shouldn't underestimate every coin because bitcoin is just an example that things could bloom in time.
Most of the people that year are doubtful about Bitcoin and they surely have the regret of not switching their goods to Bitcoin. Bitcoin has gone so far and it's continuously developing.

Yeah I remember that pizza deal. Back then nobody took it too serious and treated like experiment. It was more like booting Linux kernel on Symbian smartphone or sending UDP datagrams with homing pigeons than your regular PidarPal purchase. Or I remember it like that.

Pay cryptocurrency for your purchases? That's what I understand the progressive decision. This is very cool for those who want to monetize creative projects, such as painting, handmade goods. When I imagine that I could receive a crypto, I’m already catching on with ideas, how I could sell my goods. But buying pizza with btc would be a dream

So far I have tried platform taklimakan that allows you to create trading places for your creative projects and monetize content. This is very convenient, because immediately received tokens can be used to pay for goods. And when it’s possible to buy food with crypto, you understand that it is possible not so long to wait for cryptocurrency to become a traditional means of payment.

Agree to use cryptocurrency for purchases, if it does not incur additional costs for the transaction and reverse conversion. I will follow the news, I hope that soon they will announce what kind of cryptocurrency can be used to pay
I realized that this extension takes the cryptocurrency from the user and then exchanges for a dollar and the purchase is paid. But how does usual café or supermarket itself relate to this? This is a good idea to support users who own digital assets, but it is still new, so many ppl gonna use it.

At that moment, that is just like simple experiment only and nobody has expected that the price of Bitcoin right now will be at 4 digits. May 22 is a historical day for the crypto believers. I'd set the date in my calendar and will eat a pizza on that day in memory for the first commercial transaction using Bitcoin.
