As many people are probably aware Binance has a section on there site called Binance Academy. https://www.binance.vision/
That is a good place for Newbies to understand basic information regarding cryptocurrencies, blockchain and security.

Another interesting thing that many people probably know about but most newbies are maybe not aware of is that they also have a Phishing Quiz that you can take to understand the different tricks that scammers try to use to gain access to your accounts and your personal information.

In this quiz you will learn to differentiate legit websites from fake/phishing sites.
How to recognise a fake email.
How to spot Telegram scams.

All this is important if you are a beginner in the crypto world and don't have much experience with overall computer security.

Take the quiz and don't be shy to post your results or any concerns you may have.

Pretty easy to spot, although the idea seems entertaining, and plenty of people do not have the experience to spot this sort of phishing, as we can see on a regular basis. Placing the focus on beginners, it’s a good way to create awareness on the topic at hand.

Edit: We also need to consider the context here: the quiz is about phishing, so we are set to spot the indicators that seem off during the quiz. In the day to day, the examples provided in the quiz are not that easily detectable if we are not on the lookout for them with the same concentration and focus as during the quiz.

When we do this kind of quiz we become extra suspicious and I took the most time in the quiz where 2 are legitimate options instead of phishing.  A good quiz to make a newbie aware.

A project claiming that they will be listed on Binance doesn't necessarily have to be a scam. It can just be an attempt to gain more popularity and with more popularity comes more investments.
Generally speaking, serious projects will not make such claims. They will only make the information available once it has been confirmed by both parties that the listing will happen.
Therefore, if you see ads like that it doesn't have to mean it is a scam attempt but it could mean that they are lying for whatever reason.

Useful information for people like me. Thank you for sharing these links. This was new to me, especially with regards to phishing. It is good that such an exchange as binance creates such educational materials. I also want to do something useful for others, so I'll leave this link https://revain.org/exchanges/binance . Here you can find reviews about various exchanges. In this case, about binance. The advantage of this site is that all reviews are stored in the blockchain and are not subject to corrections. Never.

@Ninnet
In what way are you connected to the revain.org site that you are advertising as you seem to have done the same on a couple of other threads as well?
Advertising a service in such a way is against the rules. Is it your site or what?

I like how the quiz help you on how to spot fake websites and I also like how it help you to know that it is legitimate or a fake one and also never to download executable files or a file with an extension file of .exe which is not safe and we won't be able to know on what kind of program it is.

@dkbit98 made his thread with 13 phishing quizzes as of writing, including the Binance Phishing Quiz. I think you should add that helpful thread in yours.

Mostly those projects are trying to lure investors and they knew the fact that when people see binance they see mooning.
I don't really believe such claims not unless Binance release an official statement about it. Tbh, that strategy is already obsolete.

Hope the other exchange sites do what binance did, at least we know they somehow care. LOL!

I hope binance (and all exchanges and crypto companies) are getting their own employees taking these quizzes and educated.

Damage from one user getting phished is one thing, damage from a company insider can be incredibly damaging to the entire space (and severe loss to many).

Damn, I missed two  Grin Got 11 out of 13. Is it risky for me 🥴
Actually I was not attentively reading the questions and that's where I missed two and that's the actual strength of phishing method for hackers.
It was a good one, would love to share with my community.

I remember taking this on dkbit98 phishing quizzes thread. not sure what happened to me but I scored less today(11 out of 13) than when I took the test before. anyway, in one of their question I was asked that "I received a message from Binance prompting me to reset my password but you haven't asked to reset your password" the email address is familiar but I was cautious and answered "phishing" which is the wrong answer. anyway, if Binance sent me a message like that I would ask their support first if they are the ones who sent me the email before I proceed into changing my password. it's always great seeing quizzes like this it's entertaining and educational at the same time.

I got em all. Good thing that some of those question didn't really happen in real case in my old Binance email when I was day trading back in 2018. I was more like newbie to all those kind of stuffs, so I was more at risk before. I wouldn't say which one, so that newbies here would be able to answer and learn if they made a mistake.

Thank you for the bump of the thread, OP.
I wasn't aware that Binance have these kinds of quizzes, more like I directly just go and deposit my funds in their platform back in the days. Cheesy

I took this quiz a long time ago and can't remember the questions anymore.

In case something like that happens and you receive a prompt (that you didn't request personally) to reset your password via email, it can still be genuine. Maybe someone knows your email and tried to reset its password. Maybe someone uses a similar email like you and mistyped it, so you got a reset password notification. If your email is acroman08@something, it's quite possible that someone somewhere uses acroman80@something or any other name combo. No matter what, don't click on the link in the email.

Instead go to the official site by either accessing it from a bookmark or typing the name in the search bar and request a password reset personally. After that you can reset the password from the new email that gets sent to your email account if in doubt. It's also not a bad idea to compare the content and originating addresses of the one you requested and the one that was sent to your email before.

well, being in this forum for a while now taught me that clicking a link on an email that you are not familiar with or aren't expecting is probably one of the stupidest actions to do.

Instead go to the official site by either accessing it from a bookmark or typing the name in the search bar and request a password reset personally. After that you can reset the password from the new email that gets sent to your email account if in doubt. It's also not a bad idea to compare the content and originating addresses of the one you requested and the one that was sent to your email before.
yeah, that's what's I thought of doing(or at least similar to it) if ever Binance sent me a message like this. when answering the question, I thought to myself that it would be better to be cautious than be careless even if the email address is familiar.

Worth to take that quiz, I tried and got 13/13 and this surely will give an idea about how the common scammer tactics works but we have to keep updating ourselves to stay away from the phishing attacks since the scammers are keep finding new ways to scam people.
