On transactions less than $100 worth, I rarely wait around for confirmations.

On transactions with someone that I can identify, I never wait around for confirmations.

If the inputs are confirmed, and the transaction got at least min fee, you probably don't need to wait for 1 confirmation as it is not easy to double spend the transaction and it simply doesn't worth the time.

Of course, it would be a different story if you are taking a big trade.
