I can absolutely relate to this, and I'll explain why.

I heard about crypto a long time ago, but didn't get genuinely interested until early 2017. Since then I've been learning as much as I possibly can about crypto, but I still had my day job.

I ended up finding a group called Voodoo Crypto who taught me pretty much everything I know about trading. Since finding that group and investing in my education, I've been day trading regularly.

I made the decision to go all in on crypto a few months ago, and I don't just mean with my money but with my time, energy, and passion. It's the best decision I've ever made, but it caused great tension with my day job.

I've since established a plan to build my stack to a point where I can day trade for a living and dedicate my time to sharing everything I've learned about crypto. Only a few more weeks and my financial independence will be completely secured!!

Its simply because others don't want to make money more than you. Cheesy

I will tell them definitely about what I am doing but will never reveal any things about how to do it.

I try my best to make my affiliation with crypto as private as possible(trading included), though it really depends to who I'm talking to. I don't wanna get my face hit by that $5 wrench, you know? I mostly say that I trade digital assets instead. Game currencies and such. People would likely think that I still act like a kid that still has heavy interest with online games, but whatever.

They start scheming or they think "I can do that, better than you" and I suspect they want to secretly start trading too.
If you told someone and they think that way, then fuck 'em. Ignore them and do your thing. Don't get too much negativity in your way.

Two vague responses that work best are: I make money online, or I have an online business. Those responses seem to tame the beasts down and not as many people continue prying past that.

Saying: I am a CURRENCY trader, or I am a CYRPTO-currency trader, or I trade BITCOIN.  Those are going to create a more competitive, suspicious, and ultimately greedy reaction.

I also do not usually say that I am a trader, although that is my main source of income for about four years, because the country where I live still has little appreciation for issues related to technology and business or work schemes based on Internet. In fact, when someone usually says that he works online, it is common for people to suggest: "And why do not you look for a real job?"  Grin

In addition, I have found that many people have great prejudices about bitcoin, and those who have heard something about the subject tend to think that it is related to hackers or to do illicit activities, therefore, I think that in no way it would be convenient for me to be announced as crypto-enthusiastic over here.

Actually i am pretty open about my crypto trading, it is always an ice breaker and a conversation starter when people ask me what do you do fo a living and i say i work and do a bit of trading on the side, and if they ask about what it is and how it is going i start explaining, i agree that some people don't like and think that it is stupid and a waste of time and money, but other just get really interested and we become friend and i feel better for introducing them to crypto, which is honestly what we all need to do to spread the word and make the community grow and expand.

Simple, if you don't want to, don't tell anything to anyone.
There's no need to show over-smartness about your trading strategy or anything related, because that will lead to breach of your pledge towards decentralization and privacy maintenance. It is good actually to keep our mouth shut over things like these as we don't know who's got what intention and may turn out to be whom later on.

Why would they 'want to' start trading secretly when you said that they compare themselves with you and yell at you that they are better than you?

Well I always tell them that I am trading specially if my relatives ask me about my job.
If they think they could do better then why don't they try to prove it,
I wouldn't care about their life our what they think about me at least I am earning my money the right way I am not doing something illegal.
If they want to try it then let them so they would also know how hard it is to earn money in our way.
Most of them see's what we do as an easy task but they don't really know how hard it is.

It makes no sense to talk about trading cryptocurrency because 99% of the traders actually don't know what they are doing, so how can one talk about it and expect it to be meaningful except that you boost yourself.

You are very right. Better be discreet with crypto trading rather than divulge to anyone. This will create more questions, negativity if they don't know what crypto is about, and other things you might be stressed about. I for one, is not saying much to everyone around me but they do know that I am earning online via cryptocurrencies but nothing more than that.

Yes, i m. Why make you need to publish your trading activity? I never publish anything about that and i just try to publish how much achievement that i got from my trade but i never publish it specifically. Keep calm and be a good boy and whatever they said and don't care about that.
The income from your trading is including on your privacy and your activity too

Yes, very dangerous, people think we have a lot of money. Robbers are dangerous in my place, A lot of people got killed because of money. Some traders even hide their real idedntity in social media.

I don't tell them exactly and specifically my activities involving cryptocurrency. I just tell them that I'm doing an online job because I don't want to explain things further.
I have tried sharing about what I'm doing in crypto to a friend before but it turned out like I'm being judged and they even thought of crypto as a scam so from then on, instead of sharing, I stopped opening anything about my source of income.

I still have a full time job even when I have started trading. I have been asked by my workmates why do I save and earn money more than them and I have simply told them that I'm using my money wisely. We don't actually need to complicate things. People will always get envy if they would know that we're earning more than them so it's better to be secretive and live lowkey.

If you were being secretive about trading, then I don't think you should ever use social media and publish your story.

Traders that I know use social media are those who either run a private group or just love sharing ideas to others. If you just want to learn or follow them, use Twitter. No need to make an account.

I don't tell them exactly and specifically my activities involving cryptocurrency. I just tell them that I'm doing an online job because I don't want to explain things further.

I do the same thing, and part of it was true. My full-time job is online freelancing, writing, design etc, so 'making money online' is definitely spot on.

When people ask, What do you do for a living? I have a full time job, but I also trade crypto-currency.  I do not like telling them about my currency and Bitcoin activities because when I tell people about trading currency online our relationship sometimes changes. They start scheming or they think "I can do that, better than you" and I suspect they want to secretly start trading too.

Does anybody relate to this?

On the contrary, I will tell my friends that I do trade. But they think it's the traditional stock markets because I'm been trading stocks ever since.

So I don't know if some of my friends who I told about bitcoin is secretly trading behind my back. But I have no problem whatsoever though, the more the merrier.  Grin

At least if they have been trading crypto, they will learn how to earn money on the sideline.

I am not so secretive about my holdings and trades but I think it is better to be.

My family and friends at work know my crypto activities but I am a bit afraid of the future. I always read about people who become rich of crypto and suddenly his/her distant relatives start to show up to borrow money or ask for help. That's a shitty situation no matter how you look at it.

I failed it to keep it secret but I wish I did. If you haven't told anyone yet, keep it that way. Nobody needs to know.

im not secretive but i try not too mention it cause then i have to explain and then explain how its easier to trade then stocks. i try to make it easy and say it like this.  if you buy a bitcoin at 5,000 and it rises to 8000 you made 3000 and vice versa if it goes down

No I am not secretive about trading but I don't post it or talk about it to others.
If they are interested then we could talk,If they ask me I would answer,
But as long as the topic isn't open I wouldn't say a word about it,
I just don't feel that I need to brag about it I wouldn't get anything if I told them or open it up right so why would I even waste my time on bragging it to others?
