“I’m interested in blockchain, not bitcoin.”
I found this article to be very informative I have not read White Paper but to learn that 'blockchain' is not mentioned surprises me.
Long article but well worth the read.

Yes, it is worth reading and for a non-techie guy like me I am amazed at how a simple term is now evolving steadily and can mean many things depending on who is using it. It is also amazing how this forum was playing a big role for the evolution of the term "blockchain" which did not actually appeared in the original bitcoin whitepaper. Right now, there are now many different versions of the blockchain and I expect a lot can be introduced years from now.

The "Blockchain" buzzword has become a substitute for people who lack the knowledge to understand the difference between a public consensus and a centralized technology model. They think people are ignorant enough for them to trust a centralized authority to make the right decisions. <We have seen the bad actors in centralized decision making models and how exploitive and manipulative they can be and that will be their downfall.>

Bitcoin has opened the eyes of millions of people on what can be done with public consensus and decentralized technologies and none of this has something to do with centralized authorities making all the decisions.  Wink

Blockchain is a buzzword that often has little meaning and is often used by all sorts of scammers, but why would anyone call "Bitcoin" a buzzword? Bitcoin is the origin of cryptocurrency, it's the best coin, it doesn't have any hired teams of promoters who try to shove it down the throats of dumb investors, and lastly it has a well-defined meaning and the whole idea of Bitcoin is not very hard to understand.

Right now, there are now many different versions of the blockchain and I expect a lot can be introduced years from now.

Many versions of centralized databases you mean.

Crypto as a whole has deviated from its main purpose, to something that appeals to idiots thinking that the blockchain is a wonder pill that will transform this world for the better. I knew the blockchain ecosystem sucked hard, but it has gotten so much worse with how investors throw money left and right just to have their capital sit in something with blockchain in its name.

The internet boom resulted in innovation, practical uses, etc. The blockchain boom is a fools game that will result in a bad ending.
