Even as bitoin SV (BSV) enjoyed a Craig Wright/Satoshi bump Tuesday, the U.S. Copyright Office was hard at work dispelling notions that it officially “recognized” anyone as the inventor of bitcoin.

“As a general rule, when the Copyright Office receives an application for registration, the claimant certifies as to the truth of the statements made in the submitted materials. The Copyright Office does not investigate the truth of any statement made,” the Copyright Office wrote in a press release. “In a case in which a work is registered under a pseudonym, the Copyright Office does not investigate whether there is a provable connection between the claimant and the pseudonymous author.”

All it takes to register a copyright is $55 and a stable internet connection. In short, any claim that the U.S. government has registered Wright as the author of bitcoin are spurious at best. Why did the government go to the trouble of clarifying this point? Wright’s actions required it. On Tuesday, a press representative sent a widely read release that suggested, in short, that the government accepted Wright was Satoshi.

Oh, its good to know that the whole mess is now being clarified by the very office where Craig Wright filed his copyright claim for the Bitcoin WhitePaper. This is just another funny moment for the man who will not stop at anything until every man and woman in this world will believe and maybe worship him as the real Nakamoto Satoshi. In fact, he can have the copyright if he wanted to but it will not have any bearing with Bitcoin network which is own by nobody. The Craig Wright saga is getting strange and all he is spewing is some comedic value worth watching as an entertainment at its best. I am sure the pump experienced by BSV will soon wither with this clarification. Anybody here made some money with the sudden BSV pump?

which makes this story more ridiculous is that even before bitcoin was created, the Copyright Office already existed, which is why it is very shameful when it has left several years and only now has thought of going to Copyright Office. another point is that bitcoin is pseudo anonymity and decentralization, as it is justified that after several years the supposed creator will have a completely different posture ... each year becomes more obvious that he is a faketoshi. It's his negative actions that are destroying his reputation.

His actions speaks more than his words. I mean we all know that Bitcoin whitepaper has existed for at least 10 years. And after all those years, he step up to claim that he is the author, when we have been claiming that he is Satoshi are early as 2016 if I can remember. Clearly, not everything is falling into places, so to speak. Goodluck to Craig though, he has no reputation whatsoever now, him and John McAfee should be totally forgotten and not to be given any attentions because obviously they are not to be trusted.

I do not agree with OP that the Copyright claim has no influence, because it has huge economic influence if nobody is allowed to post the Whitepaper on their website without Craig Wright's permission. You also have to pay royalties and be liable for financial penalties if you use copyrighted material without the owners permission.  Angry

Yes, it might look like just another Craig Wright stunt, but it has serious consequences if he succeeds.  Angry
