https://www.cnet.com/news/pay-your-at-t-bill-with-bitcoin/

Customers can now pay their phone bill through bitcoin in AT&Ts website and mobile app. This is the first major US mobile carrier to accept cryptocurrency as payments. The payments would be through bitpay payment processor and the currencies that would be accepted are bitcoin and bitcoincash.

It's seems like this news are official because you can check the press release on their website that confirms it. AT&T is one of the largestst telecommunications company in the US and they have millions of users registered to their services so this proves us bitcoin is really growing by time since large companies start to accept it as a payment method. Even though I'm not from US I still think this is great because other companies from all around the world will follow the same move and we shall soon be able to pay for a lot of things using bitcoin.

wow wow, really hot news. I think this automatically leads that horizon, vodafone and etc will accept bitcoin payments too. Can't read that article at the moment but please can anyone tell me is it possible to buy iphone and other smartphones under AT&T contract with bitcoin? If yes, then this will be one of the most great step taken to increase of bitcoin adoption.

It's quite fascinating that a telecoms giany who could easily provide their own payment method uses bitcoin as one for their checkout pages. AT&T accepting bitcoins is news, and a big one at that considering that it's the first telecoms company to accept the said cryptocurrency as a form of payment (albeit using BitPay). I'm pretty sure others would follow suit knowing that this brings hype to the media, the people and potential customers.

I wonder how much sales would AT&T generate after this news comes out to the wider audience or whether it would be of greater impact to the company at all.

It's true, I noticed this when I went to pay my AT&T bill a couple days ago. For the skeptics, here's a screenshot:

I was surprised to say the least since AT&T is a monstrous brick-and-mortar business, not just some small internet merchant.

I prefer to spend my BTC like cash (where the merchant/service doesn't know my identity) so I probably won't be using this. But it's still great to see ongoing merchant adoption, especially from big names like AT&T.

This is great and could send the price of bitcoin to a higher price than we have now, since many persons will not only try to buy with the bitcoin, when they see the rise in bitcoin, they will be tempted to study much about it. BCH made it this time, not so bad.

Awesome... so so awesome. This is where the "if you can't beat them, join them" cliché swallows them up. We're gradually spreading everywhere. It seems they've all realized the potential of Bitcoin in the future and hence don't wanna miss this one. We hope to hear more of such news everyday.  By the way, who do you think is next to adopt ??

That's a big move forward by one among the telecom giant of the world. It has got its services all over the world, and in particular it is common on the western nation. These are really a much needed adoption, as it also has got much connection with technology. When more and more technology associated platform begin to accept bitcoin automatically more similar service renders follow the same.

It's just an indication that even the biggest company are interested in cryptocurrency. It's an advantage for bitcoin because what we really need is adoption and it will be a big impact on the development and growth of bitcoin. Let's look forward to a lot of adoptions in the coming days.

Wow, this is something big. AT&T is among top 10 corporations by total revenue in US. So, news that they are starting to accept Bitcoin is really meaningful. It's huge recognition for Bitcoin. And starting to accept Bitcoin probably wasn't big and complicated thing for AT&T. They just needed to integrate Bitpay proccessor to their system. And even if number of people who will pay in BTC, AT&T aren't risking at all with this step. I hope that more huge companies will follow this story eventually.

If it's legit and came from a reliable source then it's something that we should be grateful for. Who would have thought that a giant company would adopt and accept bitcoin as a mode of payment? It's really surprising. It will be a good start for bitcoin to enter larger companies around us.

It's even an irony while tech sites like steam and Microsoft has moved away from accepting crypto payments, something no one hoped for (but of course wanted to), AT&T accepting bitcoin and bitcoincash payments.
If given a continuation, this is certainly a good news for crypto adoption and I've read it is also a bit cheaper than other forms of payments.

Surprised as well but I hope it will stay definitely and not removed after some months as Expedia & co did before. No volatility question here because they use BitPay so the bitcoins are converted to USD. Now it's up to the users to show their interest in using BTC. I wish mine do the same.

This is a good news for cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
Crypto accepting platforms like Bitpay, Coinpayments and Coinbase had made it easier for merchants to accept crypto as a payment.
It increases the option for payments for the users whiles requires very less work on the merchant side but increases the user base dramatically.
I hope Google and Apple would too follow the way and integrate such service in their app store.

It seems to be as legit as possible because the announcement was publicly been released on AT&T official website so there is no reason to worry about it being just a rumor. It's definitely great but now let's hope people will also show their support as this company did otherwise they might remove it.

I just saw the news on Cointelegraph as well. This shows that mainstream adoption is very possible with bitcoin, and once again gives a strong stamp of legitimacy to the cryptocurrency. This is also free advertising for AT&T, given that numerous articles have just come out about this. This is likely to lead to a copycat effect among other companies.

This is good news because AT & T is a large company, and this is likely to encourage other large companies to use bitcoin as a payment tool as well
