If I correctly recall, Transcendence Networks TELOS was first, then only a couple of days later came EOS TELOS/TLOS coin. Despite the very similar naming, these two, however, are different. The coin that this thread is, is Transcendence Networks TELOS coin, which you could say to be the original TELOS coin for being a couple of days earlier released than EOS one.
The coin itself is a fork of Pivx and Dash as mentioned already in replies before, so nothing special there, just another coin amongst perhaps thousands of other new coins.
But what makes TELOS special is its founder/developer and use cases that founder/developer is bringing in.
First of all, there were some pre-existing products, earliest ones existing already 10 years ago that he have put for in use for TELOS. As example, there is Indiego Retroconsole, which was successfully kickstarted in 2016, and which new version was not successfully kickstarted this year. This Console has now TELOS wallets as default. Add to this Indiego Appstore and Amicloud and you can see the plan. First, someone gets Indiego Retroconsole. Then he wants more games, so he goes to Indiego Appstore and uses Telos to buy some. Then he runs out of space, but wishes not attach hard disk, but instead wants cloud space. What does he do? Buy Amicloud against TELOS again. Oh, and in addition, this Retro Consoles operating system is Developers first product, or at least to my knowledge first, which he made 10 years ago and is a hybrid of Linux and AmigaOS, also used by Piggybank, which is Telos wallet in Orange Pi device, making it so that you can basically keep money staking in that device for very low electricity, and then every now and then you get more money through staking, hence the name, for it is a piggybank that fills itself. Other coins do have similar devices too than piggybank, so nothing really new there.
About products that weren't pre-existing, I would mention three:
Krytpobay.eu, otherwise pretty much like eBay, except currency used is TELOS. What I liked about this is that you can request stuff from Developer, and he will add them to kryptobay as long as you promise to buy. Very handy for me as example, since every now and then when I try to buy from Amazon.de, they won't deliver the item to here. Since Developer lives in Germany, I send him the link, and then he sells it to me against TELOS in kryptobay, and now I was able to buy stuff from Amazon, I otherwise couldn't.
Then there is Peertoro.eu, which is a master node hosting service. Otherwise same as rest of the similar, except it has one-time for lifetime hosting payment option. You can check a bit about this from my article regarding Peertoro.eu that I wrote:
