We know before that the strong candidates for the title are Lionel Messi & De Jong because the Barcelona and Ajax teams have the chance to win Trible but now Barcelona & Ajax are not competing in the UCL Finals. Who do you think the decent players will get the best player title?

A strong candidate for the Ballon D'or that is widely reported is Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gerard Pique. The candidate is certainly just a prediction of many people. If we look at the extraordinary this season, of course Mbappe & Lionel Messi. It seems like the Champions League is not very influential on the Ballon D'or. So that's what I think is a strong candidate for this trophy.

Definitely champions league and Nations competitions carry a lot of weight when it comes to picking the winners so before we know the winners of the CL trophy. Here are my picks for the top candidates.
- Mbappe ( World cup winner)
- Salah (Still has to play African cup of nations to play)
- Mane (Still has to play African cup of nations to play)
- Messi (still has COPA America to play)

Final results of all that and the outcomes of UCL winner could change the tide.

Messi is my #1 candidate. Won the league title and was the top goalscorer of La Liga and Champions League, he also has the chance of winning the league cup tomorrow, and is close to winning the European Golden Boot...The guy literally carried Barcelona on his back this season with outstanding performances. Plus, he'll also play in the Copa America, if he wins this trophy, he'll 100% win the Ballon d'Or.

There's also van Dijk. Key player in Liverpool, with a lot great performances throughout the season. If he wins the CL and also the UEFA Nanations League, then it's very likely that he'll be a strong candidate.

Last but not least, there's Mané, pretty good 2nd half of the season with some poor performances here and there. Also Salah, but same as Mané, decent first half of the season, 2nd half was better, both finished as top goalscorer of the EPL...If both win the CL, one of them will probably enter the top 3 nominees but will probably not win it if van Dijk and Messi are also among the top 3.

I also think Pique is not worthy of being a candidate who won the Ballon D'or, if the chosen one from the defender I think Van Dijk is more feasible because this season he appeared impressive and brought Liverpool to be a UCL Finalist and also runner up in the Premier League. We will see who are the strong candidates who will win the Ballon D'or after UCL ends.

Just for the heads up, The last summer world cup will definitely not be taken into consideration, neither should it have any impact whatsoever in deciding which player should get this year's Ballon D'Or, The world cup was only influential in last year's edition which Luka Modric had won earlier this year.

Messi for me is still the standout candidate eligible for the prize and Barcelona's slump in the champions league shouldn't not deprive him of that, Mbappe also had a great season too but that was only in the ligue 1, Sadio Mane is another I consider very brilliant this season, he was decisive for Liverpool all through the season.

who will be able to make messi get the Ballon D'or I think only if he gets the Copa America Cup, if only the number of goals I think the criteria is not enough. The dominance of C. The award should go to the best player, it doesn't matter how well their team performs.  This is a team sport, You can be the best player in the world but there is only so much you can do when there are 10 other people on the field with you.  I would still give it to Ronaldo.

I’ll agree Ronaldo doesn’t deserve to win this year, he’s been an ordinary player since he’s joined Juventus, you’re being harsh on Messi he’s scored 50 goals this year he deserves to win this trophy. Modric and Hazard both have underperformed this season hence they won’t be winning it, Van Dijk is a wild card entry but I doubt he’ll win it. Mbappe and Salah both had outstanding seasons, but Salah is my second pick as he has led Liverpool into the finals of champions league for the second time in a year.

I like Mbappe a lot too but after winning the Ligue 1 title, PSG have been terrible, losing so many games. Yes, they did not need to win but champions do not play like that. And it sort of proved that Mbappe was not as good as he is without the others playing all around him.

He did well in the world cup but that was long ago now. I do not think he deserves it. Very difficult to say even Salah I like,,, but he also did not really do well in anything unless he wins next week.

yes you're right, because this is an individual award. 1 season's appearance is not only about bringing the team to the domestic league trophy or UCL but in my opinion the player who is able to bring his team to the Champions League trophy will have a better chance of getting the Ballon D'Or.

As a football fan I always follow football news about anything related. Ballon D'Or is an individual trophy that is highly awaited by every soccer fan or player who becomes a candidate. The assessment of the worth of winning the title was not only he played well in the game but many aspects to determine it.

I think voter fatigue is starting to become an issue, they don't want Ronaldo and Messi to win it every year because it gets boring.  That is what happened to Michael Jordan, voters gave it to him too many times and ended up awarding MVP to Karl Malone one year.
