Who are the strong candidates who will get this year's Ballon D'or trophy?

A strong candidate for the Ballon D'or that is widely reported is Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gerard Pique. The candidate is certainly just a prediction of many people. If we look at the extraordinary this season, of course Mbappe & Lionel Messi. It seems like the Champions League is not very influential on the Ballon D'or. So that's what I think is a strong candidate for this trophy.

Yeah nice thought and opinion mate but I strongly put my bet choosen lionel Messi, the other player has also a big potential to get the D' or tophy.

Failed at UCL and WC so a big no.

A defender.

- Modric, WC runner up

- Mbappe, WC & Ligue 1 winner, Ligue 1 top goalscorer
- Salah, EPL top goalscorer & potential UCL winner
So between these two strikers, I would recommend Mbappe

My take is on van Dijk, potential UCL winner if Liverpool eventually wins UCL this guy had been solid all through the season despite being a defender he also launches attacks and a threat to their opponent.
Recalled Canavarro of Italy also won a ballon D'or despite being a defender both messi and ronaldo had not been impressive this season thus both do not merit it. Sarah was impressive last season but this season he was a shadow of former self.
Mbappe though is a good goal scorer for PSG but having crashed out of UCL in quarter final by an injury ravaged MAN UTD team was out of contention.

Actually i want other players instead of Ronaldo or Messi being an the winner and i was wondering what indicators they will use to determine the winner on 2019 because last year they consider the player who playing good on world cup and Modrid became the winner from those factors and if this year the indicators would they use is who the players playing well on champion league i think my pick drop to Salah

This year there will be very difficult choice. And maybe it's a bit too early to give predictions - UCL final and Copa America results may have influence.
L. Messi have great individual performance this season. Probably his influence to Barca was biggest in recent seasons. But failure in Champions league and Copa makes his chances to win this trophy worse.
V. Van Dijk - well, why not. It's been a long time since defender won this trophy. But as other above says - he only can win if LFC will win Champions league.
Other players have only minimal chances to win. There we have two more Liverpool players - Salah and Mane.
And this year I don't see Ronaldo even in top 3.

Agree, a defender is also worthy of getting the Ballon D'or title because of the struggles throughout the season well, even though Liverpool did not get a treble but at least van Dijk and Liverpool were able to perform well in EPL and CL. Nothing prevents him if Liverpool are able to get the CL title this season most likely van Dijk will get it.

I really appreciate de Jong's performance in the Champions league, he can bring Ajax to the semifinals, and that is already very good in my opinion, seeing the material of ajax players is not as good as other teams. but it was too early for De jong to win the Ballon d'or, many other players were more deserving of it. If Mo Salah can bring Liverpool win the champions league, he is be the best candidates for , me, they have top score at Premiere League, managed to bring Liverpool win champions, who else more better than him?

I think Ronaldo may get it just because he is getting way older to keep up with this great performances, I mean he can't continue to play like this for the next couple of seasons and we will see some drop. Until that happens dude moved to Juventus, made the team win the league, win the cup, go to champions league quarter finals and played his heart out at his age and still lead the Italian league (famous for less goals scored compared to rest of the European leagues) with god knows how many goals for a long time.

He showed that with a different team and a different system in a different situation he was still the leader and best player even at his passing age. That is why this could be his last trophy. Maybe they will give one to Messi next year to tie them together and then move on to next generation players.

yes I also know that, this year's Premier League team dominates in Europe. even the final UEL & UCL final match all came from the English team. I can't wait for the Final match because in that match there will definitely be a very epic game.

Yes, this season De Jong brought Ajax to win 2 domestic trophies. He is indeed one of the strong candidates to get the Ballon D'Or if Mane or Mo Salah failed to win the Champions League this year.
