Lol! They are the same dude. The original and formal word is ‘hold’ or which means you keep it by not spending or selling but at some point the word “hodling or hodl” are being use by majority. I don’t exactly know how it started but its just the same meaning. Don’t be confused between the two when you see both of them.

Hold and HODL have the same meaning, the only difference is HOLD is an english dictionary word used for "not selling or keeping it with for a certain or uncertain period", HODL is a slang used in financial markets specially in cryptocurrencies which means the same "not selling or keeping it with for a certain or uncertain period" HODL world is the slang used "Hold on for dear life". I hope it clarifies your query.

Both have same meaning, but people use maybe more HODL after the coin HODL appear or even before because maybe they if is more specific and like more the term HODL than Hold. I also like more the HODL term.

It's actually holder. But a user in this forum drunk typed a post and said hodl in place of hold. As holder is for hold, so is hodler is for hodl.
It became so popular that the world hodl got into english dictionary. The one who holds the currencies or stocks they buy in hope of rising in price some day are called hodler.

Here's the link where the word hodl was coined. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=375643.0

Well if we look  at it from a linguistic point of view, HOLDER should be correct but the term HODL is a jargon that has become common practice in the crypto space creating room for the use of HODLER.. Though I prefer to use the term holder  when referring to a person..

In fact, he used the word HODL intentionally. He has referred it in the thread. It is mostly used for someone who have the confidence that the coin they holding will rise certainly.

Lol..  They are generally the same thing just take that first one as a slang, you can search it up on Google and you will find out how it came to be. Its HODL, HODLER and it means the same thing with what it looks like.

As far as I remember, the word HODL was a slang term for hold. It was being uttered by a drunk user of bitcointalk named "GameKyuubi" who posted the wrong spelling of hold which is hodl on his post entitled "I AM HODLING". Then the rest is history, since then the word hodl has been used instead of hold in Cryptocurrency.

Here's the link of the original post last December 18, 2013.

Holder of coin in definition means some one who hold coin in his possession but hodl is part cryptocurrency terms it was as a result of an error by a reputable member here when intending to imply hold. But never the less the mean the same thing to us here

It is HODL.

But does that matter? Just hold the damn coin if it deserves holding.
Bitcoin is one good example. You want demands that could improve the value of it? Then keep it. Do not let them buy so much of it so that people will be looking at it everywhere.
Product of it will make bitcoin expensive and also a good hype from the people and social media.

Better get your hands into a couple of bitcoin now.  Grin

When crypto price we’re increasing massively like 1000X or even more that time this hodl concept or word started the use by community. Hodl means hold on for dear life . It was the term using for crypto millionaire.

I think the same means HOLD means holding a coin and not selling it, it's the same and maybe with what you mean only different word phrases but the goal is the same.

HODLER is the right term to use in crypto, but it looks better if you just use the word HODL as it's more popular and easy to understand.
Not a big deal, those are just words, what tells your future is if you can do the right action.

While you are holding, get inspired to this song.. Grin Grin

Actually I question this also in my heart. But I don't want to ask which one is right. Because I don't use this term very often. Usually I make more telegram stickers with the words "JUST HODL", which means I use the word HODL more than HOLD.

I find this topic not very relevant to crypto. Almost everyone in the forum understands and knows the words used for this crypto industry
