I didn’t see this coming.  Hopefully this will create a tidal wave of companies accepting crypto payments.

They have to do it now and be ahead to other companies or else they will just be left behind. Facebook have started to realize it, they are now working with their own coins. Its good to have more tech companies, or any businesses to accept cryptocurrency this is a real start now and hope for more.

More than anything, this really speaks volumes about general OTC demand. Bitpay wouldn't be getting in bed with such a massive company (one of the biggest companies in the US) if it didn't have guaranteed OTC buyers for their volume. They must have some big clients who will literally buy everything they can throw at them.

Bullish.

a company like Facebook creating their own centralized and possibly closed sourced and closed (private) blockchain cryptocurrency should not be confused with bitcoin and its acceptance as payment by other companies.
the first one is meaningless to use because it is simply a big corporation making money from the hype but the second one is important to us because it increases bitcoin adoption.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Big companies are starting to consider cryptocurrency and blockchain tech. Last time I read starbucks accepting crypto, as time goes by more and more companies and financial institutions will follow. I think the trend of blockchain tech and crypto in businesses will have a chain effect, and soon the market demand for crypto will grow.

Indeed, samsung already supports cryptocurrency by placing wallets on units (as for what ive read). If this trend will continue and spread among all remaining big and small company and institution we can see bitcoin on mainstream financial system fast.

This is fairly good news for those who are residing in the US, it seems that big companies are taking a step to adopt cryptocurrency in their payment option. I just hope that this trend would be followed by some major companies here in Asia which I think will relatively help the payment transaction to go faster unlike using a third party company.

that was controversial story we had that had cryptocurrency in it though. I already have a bitcoin wallet on my Samsung (Galaxy) smart phone without needing to buy a special version of the phone that "supports" anything and the wallet I have (Electrum) is a lot more trusted than whatever Samsung is going to include in those phones which may even track your every move.

another good news.maybe there are not many customers yet who want to pay with crypto but there will be.so who follow the tech first, they adopt their company to market before their rivals.

We could do so with platforms like Bitpay or Bitrefill already. However, it is a great advantage to receive payment directly.

There are huge companies who are recognizing and starting to accept cryptocurrency specifically Bitcoin. It's an indication that blockchain technology is starting to reach even giant businesses and it will surely help the growth of cryptocurrency.
Mass adoption is what we really need and it's surprising that huge companies are the ones who are adopting it these days.

This is great news AT&T is one the largest company around the world, and people are going to realize that such big companies accepting Bitcoin as a payment method(eWhich of course many other big companies did too). This is going to encourage a lot of people around the globe even my childhood memories are from especially this company.

Wow, this is actually huge! The company has huge revenue and I believe it's very popular in the US. Accepting payments in Bitcoin is important because this way Bitcoin is performatively recognized as money, not something else. As the US policies struggle with naming Bitcoin legal tender, such moves from big players can push the regulations in the right direction. Not to mention that it's another step forward in terms of adoption. More people will see Bitcoin as an option, hear about it more often and perhaps even try it. The number of Blockchain wallet users will reach 38.5 million by the end of the month, but we really need a nice adoption boost if we want Bitcoin to compete with other payment methods.

This is actually good marketing for cryptos and specifically Bitcoin as it proves the naysayers and those that don't have basic knowledge about cryptos that Bitcoin and other coins aren't some sort of ponzi scheme or scam since these companis are willing to embrace them, this should make the average joe get interested in cryptos.

But what's interesting is that, even though the first wave of adoption from big companies (Whole Foods, AT&T, Home Depot, etc) has started, the market doesn't react to such news, I mean, I'm not expecting a huge 50% spike in the price, but at least some movement, yet we're still stuck around the 7k-8k range.

This is awesome! Last i heard Samsung had installed into one of its latest phones a cryptocurrency wallet and now AT&T also comes on board in the process of making the worldwide adoption of cryptocurrency a reality. Right now i think everybody is waiting for Apple to also come out and update its users whether they are going to design any wallet into their newest phones that they are yet to release. I am very hopeful they are going to develop this anytime soon.

It is still not the crypto-to-crypto transaction guys. Bitpay is still in the middle so there is a cost in the middle. If this is a crypto-to-crypto transaction then I would say that this is really a big news. But for AT&T to have someone in the middle to process the service then this could be considered as 'half-baked', in my opinion.

Actually this is a thing that has a positive impact on cryptocurrency, because at least it benefits from the news.
Other large companies will also catch up like Facebook, but they see Bitcoin as a Blockchain.

This is a great news. We have seen several of such good news but this was not having muh effect on the btc price during the bear market but I think more of such news around this time can do a lot of good. Everything is pointing towards the fact that btc is almost at the mainstream

As a big company, AT&T make a good step for accepting cryptocurrency as their payment (and if they really do that) and that will make cryptocurrency will get adoption from their customer.
That will influence their customer to use cryptocurrency, and I think many of them will learn more about cryptocurrency and they will find out that cryptocurrency can be a new way for them to use for another thing and not just for the payment system.
I am sure more and more big company will try to use cryptocurrency for the payment system because with cryptocurrency, people will have a simple payment transaction and they don't have to go somewhere to pay the transaction because they can use their wallet on the mobile phone and send the money.
