Didn't sign up but asking to confirm

I never signed up or tried to sign up on hitbtc. 3 days ago, I received a mail asking me to complete the sign up process. I was wondered how that happened. The mail was from original hitbtc email.

That's mean someone using your email to signup on every website like airdrop, etc. Have you ever posted your email address at bitcointalk, maybe went you join on bounty campaign, If yes then someone saved your email for their database. Basically, they save the email for something like this or spam your email with airdrop, phishing, etc.

I never posted my email here. This is not even an airdrop site. It is an exchange. What's the benefit of other people to use my email here? I never submitted my email in any airdrop or bounty as well.

Are you sure it was from a legit HitBtc email account? Take a look at:

It could either be a phishing link, or a legit account created by someone who has a similar email to yours and typed-in the wrong email.

Edit: The email you indicate seems legit (unless it's got cyrilic characters or something like that), and is under the set of addresses to whitelist from HitBtc: https://support.hitbtc.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001106299-How-to-whitelist-HitBTC-in-your-mailbox.

The mail was from no-reply@hitbtc.com, this is authentic email of hitbtc, I guess. And the link was taking me to the original site of hitbtc.
The chances of similar email is less likely to be true because my email is too long enough as well as creative.
Is it a secret method of hitbtc to attract new customers?

They saved your email for many things:

• Phising
• Spammer Airdrop
• Database email for signup website, sometimes some website doesn't need a confirmation email.
• Cheating Campign and other stuff
• etc.

Just for in case, I created a few emails for public & privacy to avoid this. You can ignore it if you not registered to HitBTC, I suggest to avoid HitBTC the platform was not really good. I have some HitBTC and got notification login went my 2FA it's active.

It's just either a phishing link, or someone is messing with you. If it's the latter, someone probably found your email on some forum account of yours. Probably just ignore the email and just not activate the account so the registration would be nullified(hopefully).

Ignoring is the best way.

Sometimes we do not care to post our email addresses in the forums or we just subscribes with this and that promotions. These people basically sell the data (your email address). The buyers then misuse the contacts.

This is the reason I do not subscribe with the websites or any kind of promotions that I do not trust.

Beware HitBTC is well known for locking your account when withdrawing from their exchange and asking for KYC but after trying to verify the KYC you can't still able to withdraw.

So the weird thing how did you receive an email from hitBTC the possibilities might be your email sold from another website if you using it from registering or use it as your contact. If no one knows your email how did they reach you?

There is a tool call email generator where can generate more than million emails so if your email is one of generated email HitBTC can send a spam email like you received.

Just ignore the image and you will be safe.

I suggest you follow what most people here to do and that is to ignore that email and try to add that to the blacklist or you block the one who sent you that mail. There are possible cases on why you got that mail like someone had almost the same email as you, someone is messing with you and more possible reasons. They don't benefit anything from using your email but one thing i'm sure is that they waste your time just for that and may have cause a panic for example.

The best thing you can do is don't click it because you never know if you got a phishing email or not that could steal your data.
If you don't feel register with them, then you can skip or delete the email and don't think about it.
Or maybe you forget that you already register on that site but the email confirming did not arrive in your email, so you forget that you already registered with them.

i don't think its good to block that email he got from because as the OP said before that they receive the email from the official that hitbtc has.
And as many people said above it will be good just ignore the email if you never register in hitbtc exchange.

I never visited hitbtc probably. I didn't try to register there. Someone is probably trying to get referral by signing up through their referral link   Not sure. Might be true.
