Hi, I'm not new to bitcoin & blockchain and I'm a full time trader with quite a little knowledge on tech background. I do trade cryptocurrency coins and studied a lot on blockchain technology. But I have a question, I always stumbled across this in my mind when people ask me why blockchain is the future, why should you care and buy?  Anybody can give me some tips and answer for this?

Would appreciate it.

The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

You can always tell them about the technology development that are happening today,we are not in our native mode anymore people and technology is evolving and financial system is one of that.Bitcoin will serve as a main currency in the future where everything is processed online and all payments go through the bitcoin network. We should care to buy because bitcoin is still at its low price state compared to how much it can go the.more years to  come

The blockchain is a server network, where every transaction gets confirmed by every server, which is a part of that network. This is the most stupidly simple explanation(it might not be 100% accurate) that came up in my mind.

The shared database works like a book for the record of purchase-sale operations or any other transaction. Blockchain appeared with Bitcoin.

Basically it's a bank, eliminating intermediaries (bankers)

Tell them it's the new bank where you control your own funds. Tell them the blockchain technology records all transactions and can be viewed by anyone across the globe as long as they have internet access. Tell them that with the blockchain technology, a lot of new things can happen and it's trending and it is the future money. A few simple words. They don't understand the entire thing but give them the simplest form of explanation.

Yes, Hoping for this answer! But can you explain to me why blockchain will be the future and how will it change the world. Why people think that the funds will flow into blockchain.

I don't think that millennials need some special information and education about blockchain. They are very well familiar with technologies and use them in every day life. Maybe just to give them a hint to promote blockchain but I'm sure they are already familiar with that. Believe me, millennials are born with new technologies.

The world is revolving and we are in the technology era with a lot of digital revolutions. The blockchain technology is the technology behind Bitcoin the innovative virtual cash that is disrupting the global financial economy. The blockchain technology is simply a distributed ledger used to record transactions that is tamper proof.  The decentralized blockchain protocol can be used to created various projects that are transparent, efficient, reliable, immutable and trustless.

It's all about financial transparency, reduction of transaction fees and liberty in our finances. For the sake of transparency, so many corruption can be avoided if transactions were being made with cryptocurrencies. Imagine when you can send funds to a business partner within the shortest possible of time without any restrictions. This is what blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies seek to offer the world. Wish governments could see this vision and give us the green light!

There is no need to feel obligated to explain to and influence the generation of the millennials as far as the blockchain and cryptocurrency is concerned because I am sure that they are already into this and for those who have not heard of it they can easily get the information they might need online. In fact, the millennials can be among one of the most excited on these many innovations.

Now, for the sake of making things in the right perspective, here is a YouTube video which explains to one and all what is the blockchain and what are its many implications: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl8OlkkwRpc

You know most people "Do" know about blockchain are meant for transferring coins to coins and also decentralized in a sense of storing coins for future purposes, it can be used to avoid taxes and stuff. But what people wants to know it's how it can change the world, perhaps maybe bitcoin can be use as payment method in the future < but what struck that for the world to adopt bitcoin and force to use as payment? And why do you think blockchain can change the world,an example please?

Millennials like things to be explained in the simplest way possible. So if you are planning to explain them the concept of Blockchain and Bitcoin, you need to eliminate the technical term. This how I explain it to my daughter

Blockchain is just a record-keeping tool.

Bitcoin is a Internet based currency that run on Blockchain.

If this could help you.

You don’t need to explain them everything all you have to do is tell them to watch over YouTube since that place I what they love to invest time,so when they watched lots of videos then maybe the question would be answered and you don’t need to lure them to invest time and money here, let them do that themselves

First, make a good impression.
They need to be interest at the first moment so they can proceed into next level.
Personally I will tell them that I can get BTC from this forum, there is no more simple way rather than this.

Second, once they interest, just follow the flow , it will be easier !

I guess the millennials are open-minded when it comes to innovation and technology and if this kind of technology would be given to them I think they will become interested in it and according to this article

https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/millennial-how-old-is-generation-y-cutoff-date-pew-research-center-a8235731.html

According to PEW That Millenials are those people born between 1981 and 1996, And will be between the ages of 22 and 36 in 2018, I am born on the year 1987 so to speak I am one of the Millennials that are open to this kind of technology and innovation, And I guess many Millenials sure is open to the technology and value of Bitcoin, So just like me we can sure share normally the technicality of it with our fellow Millenials.

It's hard to explain that to millennials but they can relate if you can invite them to watch videos on Youtube about blockchain and cryptocurrency and how everything works, a long explanation will not do good, millennials love watching videos if it is about something worthwhile, so why not compile a link of the best videos on Youtube about cryptocurrency and blockchain.

Millennials: Born 1981-1996 (22-37 years old)
People around 22-37 are probably the most keen on what bitcoin is, You should learn how to explain it to a 5th grader, so seniors and kids can learn, here is my explanation.

Bitcoin is a limited coin, It is like gold but on the computer, think of it like digital or electronic gold. There will only ever be 21 million bitcoins. It is also a record keeping book, Kind of how a bank keeps your
inputs and transfers, bitcoin has the same mechanism but instead of the banks having the book, everyone has the same book that is updated at the the same time. No one can alter the book unless 51% of censuses
of the network agrees to alter the book.

Bitcoin made it so we no longer needs banks, We are the banks. Bitcoin`s is the currency of this bank some people call the smaller divisions satoshi`s. Blockchain is the technology behind bitcoin. You can buy anything with bitcoin so it is just as real as cash or fiat money. Fiat money is a $cam, it actually en$laves you endlessly. At least at the end of 21 million bitcoin, the bankers cannot keep en$laving you, they will have to work to obtain their bitcoins back.

Money used to be backed by peoples work, which was represented by Gold. Than in 1971, the entire world became slaves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRzr1QU6K1o Thanks Nixon!
First they stole all the Gold, They went into peoples houses and jacked it from them, then they banned it from backing the dollar! so they stole from everyone.

So son or daughter? what backs that cad/usd in your pocket?
It is Delusion, no different than monopoly money.

i'm not sure that "blockchain is the future". i imagine lots of altcoins will die out and tokens will fail in the coming years. right now, the strongest possible use case for a blockchain = censorship-resistant and irreversible transactions. in bitcoin, this is achieved through methodically designed network incentives and a decentralized network architecture. most altcoins can't achieve this use case reliably because they are highly centralized and easily 51% attacked.

for most people, the best reason to buy is because the price will rise. there's only 21 million coins, so at this rate of adoption, we're gonna hit million dollar valuations someday.

Do you have people that ask you that?. You are surrounded of pretty interesting people, unlike me.

You can give two explanations, the short one and the long one. If you give the long one you will probably lose them very quick, since the attention span this days is pretty short. And believe me, you are really lucky for that.

It is simply a much more secure and transparent way to send information in a virtual or electronic way, that will make processes in the future a lot more effective across different industries.

Because to be honest, nobody can truly imagine all the different implementations this technology will have in the future.

Blockchain brings a new concept of financial system to the world. It represents a new kind of organization, where there isn't a central authority or institution behind the currencies controlling them. In other words, it could be the evolution of the financial system, so you should care for it.
Furthermore, blockchain is awaking the interest of all kinds of people, so there are big chances it will be implemented in different areas of our societies.

And you should buy bitcoins because it's a serious currency that has already conquered the market. In more than 10 years many haters told it was a ponzi, a bubble and that it was going to die, but in fact, bitcoin did rightly the opposite and came back stronger than ever.
As was said, bitcoin is a great investment and its main potential is on long run, so it can be a precious opportunity, like it was for those who started using btc on the early years.

I think the fact that you can't easily answer the question "why blockchain is the future" is already a signal that maybe blockchain isn't actually as great as the people who sell it are claiming. You could answer this question with the typical blockchain-salesman mantra that blockchain is exciting technology adopted by all big companies and will soon™ change the world, but would it actually be the truth? Blockchain didn't do anything since it started getting hyped 3 years ago, you always see rumors and statements how it will be used, but not reports of someone already using it and getting huge positive results from it.

If someone is really interested to find out and know, you can just take a piece of paper and a pen and make a diagram of how blockchain works, how transactions are recorded, and where do money goes and stop and so on and so forth. I think only children will need this kind of explanations because someone of a right age and with enough understanding will not find it hard to understand even if you just define it to them and use examples. Besides, sources of informations about it are everywhere in the internet, newspapers, social medias etc.

Any economic platform changes, and moves in the future. Blockchain will be the foundation to change the trend and movement of the economy in the future. FIAT is becoming troublesome because you protect it safely through safes or banks. With Blockchain, you can protect your money and use it anywhere with an internet connection.

That's added some points answering why we can believe that blockchain can be useful, having your wallet as your main banking system, if adoptions happened you can use the system anywhere,  transactions will be done as easy as that, if we need to explain things like this with people who really wants to learn, it will be much easier to show them existing system that will be more helpful in their generation onwards.

You could always present BTC & Blockchain to millenials as a form of meme that's being viral and make them feel like if they aren't hooked then they aren't "cool" enough. Petty but works. Coz if you bombard millenials with jargons only day traders and real traders use, then you will bore the hell out of them for sure

Ain't swiping a barcode not a futuristic thing to them?  Grin

If we are talking about millennials as you say it, they should be the one who should understand that first.
They love tinkering the internet and also android applications. They could have stumbled with a good application that may have something to do with payments and just swiping it.

No need to go thru explaining the whole blockchain. Let them dig it after introducing the basics of bitcoin.

In my opinion, the right way to answer their question is by understanding first about what they think about Blockchain and cryptocurrency. Well, commonly the people will have their thought because of the issues and news from the media. Here, you need to give certain easy clarification about the issues.
Just explain the simple about Blockchain technology where you can apply this to many sectors, not only cryptocurrency, it is for the financial system, banking, health, education, and others, including gaming.
Moreover, many people will be interested in Blockchain or Bitcoin when they have been seeing the success of you. Just do your best and they will see the successful person like you in crypto, especially Bitcoin.

Since Millennials are open from new technologies, it is not hard for them to easy understant what bitcoin is. We are in the 21st century where new and high technology is being introduced. You can simply say bitcoin is a digital money where you can keep on your own wallet and can be used as a digital payments without the need of the third party involvement.

My nephew is a millennial and I can see that he is interested about blockchain and bitcoin, but I am curious if He’s just being attracted seeing me gaining and profiting from this or he was really into technology

What I am doing is to tell him the importance of the technology behind this and what is the purpose of Satoshi creating this for the future, actually this is more on for the millennials than older generations, because they will be the one to benefits this in the future process than us

The simplest answer that you have to say might be like this, blockchain is an industry that is very friendly dude and has a strong community in all corners of the world and BTC is the key to the success of the cryptocurrencies industry which is basically profitable investment in BTC. That alone is enough if there are more questions you have to tell the truth without exaggerating the reality.

I thought.  Today's millennial generation is easier to accept change.  specifically technological change.  enough we only explain to them about theory and practice.  then some time, we must guide them.

Investing in the cryptocurrency market attracts millennials more likely because investing in a "familiar" is easier than trusting abstractions (stock market). Speaking about the familiar, I mean that young people are attracted to projects, attracts the history of Bitcoin, which, as if by magic, appeared on the market and rapidly became popular. The stock market plays by the well-known rules, and the cryptocurrency works as a kind of gambling bait

Millenials do not trust banking systems. Repeatedly, banks became the initiators of currency manipulation. While blockchain technology builds relationships according to the principles of openness. In addition, possession of Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency allows you to immediately find their use. and what can shares? you only get income from them, but you can’t reinvest it

All people will not mind to get extra money without much effort. And just so many newbies are looking at cryptocurrency, thinking that this is a quick money. But the truth is that this industry, like any financial market, requires training. I spent more than one month taking educational courses in binance and taklimakan to understand how best to start trading. We live in an age of high speeds and time is precious. But I'm glad I spent my time, because I know the work to pay off soon. And it is the blockchain technology that gives me this opportunity. So I will trust the cryptocurrency market more than the stock market

The reason for the popularity of cryptocurrency among millenials  is that they allow you to make small investments. In cryptocurrency we should only that amount which we could afford to loose. And less fear of loss, people are more willing to invest in the crypto market.

The stock market fluctuates, but how rapidly the situation in the cryptocurrency market is changing is an amazing phenomenon that can generate very high returns in a relatively short period of time. If you know how to behave in the market

I would say its a sidekick of existing monetary system, you have an centralized government that prints money, circulate for economy and welfare of humanity. Comprehensive yet flawed in some context, privacy is not great, yet accustomed to PEOPLE. Blockchain and bitcoin is the other hand does the opposite, not necessarily better but its a inevitable invention. Both are equally important and while most of the youngster did know about internet, its easy to explain the same distributed way of verifying transactions

The existing system doesn't need a sidekick to press the people down, not when it's got basically the entire world's recognised economies behind it and a horde of bankers and capitalists who need the status quo to continue enjoying their strangeholds, and to ensure their children after them have the same.

Definitely agree bitcoin may not do all things better - centralised works for some things - but it's not difficult to be better than the current system really.

Get millennials to understand first the flaws of the system. And then if they care, show them the Bitcoin alternative.

Well just explain them what internet of things is and how blockchain are on it. You can teach them about a project of the coin that working on blockchain sector. Blockchain is a future cause many thing could be explained and blockchain is building trust and also the smart contract that would make anything easier without need a third party. And for your last questions, why should you buy and invest in blockchain? i would aswer it pretty straight, blockchain will be the future and still not be used and still in development so i do think its the best to invest on it on early stages cause it might bring a lot of profit for you.

Blockchain removes the middle man in a transaction which can be very costly and unreliable. It cannot be hacked so information stored through blockchain is very safe albeit it is in a public ledger. It can be used in a lot of industries which is why it is dubbed as the future.

Not all of Altcoin's development on the Blockchain platform is the currency of the future. With Altcoin that receives support from the future Crypto community, it can be considered a replacement currency for FIAT, so choosing Altcoin as an investment option will help you make a profit.

It is easier to explain it on millenials since they were born on where technology has already risen. Why blockchain is the future? because it can be use in services even on elections. By the use of blockchain, we can avoid fraud. Why you shoud care and buy? By the use of blockchain, i can buy cryptocurrency like bitcoin with faster transaction and the reason why i buy cryptocurrency coz i can make money from it and i can be a millionaire one day lol

Bitcoin is also the future of all trusted digital payments and can be the way to prove a job to homeless people. Bitcoin can be the future of many establishments. So better to understand what bitcoin and cryptocurrency so that millennials have the knowledge when the right time comes.
Me I don't see bitcoin as complicated so I can explain to the millennials what can be the future with bitcoin.

You don't need to put a lot of effort explaining to them, give them the reference and let them study bitcoin.
Tell them to search in google,, watch youtube videos and that it s a lot resources already where they are learn if they are interested.
Also, don't forget to tell them that we have a great community here with this forum.

Millenials have a broader knowledge in technology more than other generations and im sure there are a bit less explanation about technicals. The thing we should teach them now is about how crypto can bring us passive income and its possibility as an official currency in the world.

Woow, I get to this forum while looking some info about bitcoin in my country just for my interest to know what is it. I want to figure out how it works and have found here so much information
It turns out that bitcoins is developing so fast, and of course open new abilities to a lot of enterprenoure Huh

This is the right place to look. This forum is pretty old, i suggest you to first use the search option inside Beginners&Help and see if your doubts are solved. If not, you can easily open up a threat and make sure that your question is carefully explained there so it not only helps you but also anyone else that looks at it and needs/wants to know more about this movement or technology.

If anyone is interested enough, they can learn about blockchain on their own. Understand bitcoin and blockchain are not the same thing which is what most people don't understand but if you educate them on an enterprise that have embedded blockchain without bitcoin it will interest them to learn more about it.

there's no point in explaining in detail what the blockchain is, because they ask a search engine there are many articles that contain details about the blockchain. because millennial currently very dependent on internet-based explanations rather than explaining directly. if they has learned about blockchain from internet, the next step try to introduce a wallet address and how to use it. until that point I think it's enough, if indeed he is lined up let him explore directly what is blockchain.

When I explain to them, I always compare them to stocks since they are more familiar with that and the concept of buy and sell is easy to grasp. The denomination is 1 satoshi, similar to how a dollar is composed of pennies.

Learning by their own cannot be done easily due to some factors, which might destruct the minds of newbies who wanted to acquire such knowledge about bitcoin and blockchain. If I wanted to explain briefly about bitcoin to millennials, maybe I would suggest some funny examples which made them more interested. There must be intimate discussions that will be followed by the millennial participants, and financial experiences is one of the best part that could attract them to acquire basic informations in order to gain step by step knowledge.

I think you can explain to them about the investment in cryptocurrency and makes an example of buying the stock at the market. But you can do with your own explain, and I think you can explain what you learn and it's better to give a live explanation at the market so they can understand what you want. But I think you don't have to explain more details to them because they are new people who interest with cryptocurrency and they need to know about the basic of cryptocurrency first, so then they can learn another lesson of cryptocurrency.

The blockchain is a server network, where every transaction gets confirmed by every server, which is a part of that network. This is the most stupidly simple explanation(it might not be 100% accurate) that came up in my mind.

No, its not the same. Blockchain has no server. That's why they called it Decentralized.
The value of decentralized control is that it eliminates the risks of centralized control. With a centralized database, anybody with sufficient access to that system can destroy or corrupt the data within. This makes users dependent on the administrators.

Actually millennials are those who can understand the blockchain technology better than anyone else.
I would strongly recommend you to watch all the videos of Andreas Antonopoulos. He is a Bitcoin Expert and he shares a lot of content about blockchain in his media. Follow him on twitter if you wish.

I guess one way to introduce or explain Blockchain to millenials is to use the smart phones. Millenials cant live without their smartphones with them so if theres an app out there created to teach or show what blockchain is I guess its a good way to start. I heard samsung already added a cryto wallet in their new phone.

It can be easy if there’s an application more about tutorials but we can also use online to teach them. Millenials are always online, so for sure they can be teached thru that and they can easily understand cryptocurrency not unless they are not interested to invest.

This can share on social media where they can easily seen and for them to be curious about it. Millennials are mostly adventurous and have search different things for them to gain more knowledge. They have advance thinking so it os not hard to explain to them especially if the are really interested about it.

You said you learned a lot about blockchain, that is the answer.
when you want to tell someone about the blockchain all you have to say to them is what you have learned so far about the blockchain just tell them.
and I think before you tell them about blockchain you have to learn a lot about what blockchain is. so that every word you say can be received well by them

Blockchain is a specifically a open party ledger that works by generating and expanding blocks , they use cryptography to connect them and it's more or so like a personal interface , where it needs only 2 people to work , not any third party.

Bitcoins is something like online , open , non centralized share market where you can invest , trade , buy , sell , do whatever you want and since it is decentralized , it doesn't have anything to do with the government .
But it is more volatile than a normal share market.

I'm not also very good at this, but I think you should explain that in a layman's term for them to make it easy to understand. Like in every transactions there are blocks and in the connection of blocks and transactions there is a blockchain. Wherein, blocks are a record book that holds the details of the transactions. While blockchains are distributed immutable data (can't be modified) or simply distributed blocks.

Millennials are born with gift and that is the internet which makes their life more easier than the generations who came before them. Every thing can be look up through a simple press and clicks to a phone or computer, not only millennials but everyone, if they are curious about it then they can just search every thing about it. What I don't like about millennials is that their attitude is less, what I mean is you can see their feeling outside, they are entitled and lazy to do things and has been eaten by social media thrones.

In able to explain blockchain or bitcoin to millennials you must share your own experiences to them. Through sharing your experiences you can acknowledge them in using bitcoin, through sharing your experiences you can be very effective in encouraging millenials to use bitcoin and to also share bitcoin to others.

Most of the time a lot of people are using money to share it, something like networking saying that you could earn a big amount of money here that why a lot of newbies are having a wrong perspective.

You can start it by telling the emerging technology that's why the blockchain/bitcoin exist, you may also say that it is an alternative bank, in which you are only responsible in your own money,  explain also the difference between decentralized and centralized system, it would help yhem to understand more about the crypto world. The best way for them to learn it faster is personally, if you are going to teach them personally, you can hook up their attention, or if you are don't want them to meet personally, just try to make some videos, do not make it written learning because millenials are so lazy on reading so long blog, use some videos instead of blogging, make it as vlog.

how did they come to have interest?because of me Showing my wallets last year when the prices spikes in 3rd quarter.
I have showed the amount i hold early that year and again when they saw how the volatility works then they got this Good looks about Crypto.
Maybe we don't really need Big explanation instead let them see the market and benefits themselves.Millennial now are Good in sighting possible profiteering all we need to do is make them believe that this is legit and not a scam .

In my own way, I will explain to them that bitcoin is one of the successful inventions nowadays because when it develops many countries adopted on it, because it is a single administrator that can be sent from user to user on a peer to peer network so that it doesn’t have taxes on to it. Bitcoin is a type of crypto currency that only be used in the internet and you need to be online to allow an online transactions.

I'm a payment processing sales guy so I would point out the features and benefits of bitcoin and show them how it would provide them value. As we slowly exit the speculative phase of bitcoin and enter the currency phase it will come down to effective sales people convincing small businesses that taking BTC is worth their time. The kids will follow along as they start seeing the signs and other people paying with BTC and other altcoins  for goods and services.

So from the small business owner perspective it might sound like:

Block chain technology puts you in control of your finances. There is no such thing as an ach withdrawal. No company is going to raid your account at the end of each month withdrawing hundreds or even thousands of dollars in fees for the "privilege" of doing business on their network. You can convert your digital assets to dollars in a few seconds and receive the funds in your traditional bank account just like you receive daily deposits now from your processor. You can automate payments to your vendors much like the bill pay feature in your bank but it is instant and generates and immediate electronic trail so you know when your payments were transmitted and exactly when they were received. Nothing gets lost in the mail and there are no surprises.

Block Chain technology is secure. Did you know that every time you write a check you are releasing your routing and account numbers into the world? We simply trust that banks will protect our privacy and make sure our financial data is protected. Have you seen the news? Constant data breaches involving customer data and financial information are the norm right now. Block chain stores your private financial information and digital assets locally. In your hands. All you need to know is a very basic set of security measures that we will teach you to how to implement.

Your customers will soon expect it. The next generation for better or worse is the most wired generation the world has seen. They expect quick and convenient. They are all ready very comfortable with using their devices to pay for goods and services. This trend will grow. As digital assets grow in market share you can be ready to serve your customers in the way they expect to be served.

For young people:

It's money on your phone. You can use it to buy and sell stuff. There is no debit card or credit card to get lost and have your money stolen. You can use it to support artists and blogs that you enjoy, you can grab a pizza with it, you can buy text books and electronics with it.

It's money that fits your lifestyle. There is no need to carry a card. It all happens over your mobile device and the internet. You can pay anyone anywhere in seconds. You don't need to log on to your bank account to check your balances. You see your balance every time you make a payment. You can support crowd funding instantly by simply scanning a bar code and entering the amount you want to send. The money goes directly to the organization or individual you choose without crazy fees. Your recipients whether they are a non profit or another person receive the full amount without a banker taking a cut.

It's yours. There is no federal reserve or government entity that can manipulate the value of your money. No one can create more digital currency. It moves just like money but much faster and much more secure. No one owns bitcoin. Someone else does own your money.

This was just a quick spitball but if I were in the field selling bitcoin processing or adoption it would sound a bit like the above.

Just tell them its a ledger of the transactions and its updating constantly. Millennials are often just watching youtube, if they don't understand something they will search it on youtube and even in facebook as they always are staying in facebook.

But while you explain very little about it, give them the link to bitcoin.org and blockchain, because by then if a really interested millennial will go and read to learn it.
