Question on BTC Exodus -> Ledger Transactions

Hey folks,

I bought a portion of a BTC some time ago and stored it in an Exodus wallet.
Today, I transferred all my BTCs to a newly bought Ledger wallet in 2 transactions. Sadly the transaction information of both wallets do not match - can anyone explain the subsequently listed records to me?
BTW: I am fully aware of the fact that Ledger creates different receiving addresses for each transaction.

Ledger shows:
FROM: 1P5
TO: 3ME & 1GZ

Exodus shows:
FROM: 1P5
TO: 3L8

TO: 3L8

I think 1GZ is your Exodus's change address.

When you sent the first transaction (partial amount) from 1P5 (main address), to 3ME which is the ledger's address, the change was sent to 1GZ.

The second transaction used your main address 1P5 and the change address 1GZ as inputs.

Basically, bitcoin's UTXO system is similar to fiat payments; you have to choose from a couple of bills to pay for something and if there's an excess amount, that will be the change.
In Exodus' case it spent a "huge bill" from "1P5" and "payed" "3ME" (you), but there's an excess amount that should be sent back to Exodus' wallet: "1GZ".

You can always check the whole transaction detail in a blockexplorer by pasting the transaction ID.

1GZ is your change address. When a BTC transaction is made from Exodus, the remaining funds do not stay in the sending address, it goes to a new one. Here's an example of a transaction I might make on Exodus:

Address 1 has 0.5 BTC.
- I send 0.3 BTC to Address 2.
- > Exodus sends 0.3 BTC to Address 2, and 0.2 BTC to a new address, Address 3

Now, your exodus wallet has 0.2 BTC stored in Address 3, rather than staying in Address 1.

Address 3 == 1GZ

Honestly, this is bread and butter stuff for a wallet. If a user wants to view the transaction details, they should see the actual transaction details... not whatever the developer thinks the user should see. 

For instance, hiding change addresses is just confusing for users who then wonder why their coins are not in "their" address if they should happen to put their "main" address into a block explorer and then wonder why the balance doesn't match what their wallet is telling them.

Yea I guess. Some people might not care about what address inside their wallet their money is in though, as long as its in one of the addresses that they own. I agree though, I think the change address should always be shown as one of the outputs within the wallet, because it is one.
