We recently created the fairplay.live platform where players can bet against each other on sport events.
Our introductory post  was quickly moved to the Altcoin section so we didn't get the chance to receive as much feedback as we wanted from people who actually bet on sport events.

If you have some time to give us  feedback we would really appreciate it:

- Do you actually like the concept of betting against another person to take his money or do you prefer betting against a bookie
- Would you use the platform to bet against strangers (as it is now) or would prefer it if you could create bet events yourself to bet against your friends (in private) ?
- What do you think of the platform as it is ?
- Are there any sports events you would like to see available for p2p betting ?

Me personaly i like the p2p betting,its like our traditional way of gambling when we are young betting on something with our friends.
I would use your platform for sure but ill wait for more feedbacks before going in.
The site itself is quite good just need some retouches all are smooth  and user friendly so no worries for me in platform itself.
For sports almost every sports that gets the attention of most of us is already in your site so for me its fine not to add more

I prefer to bet on a bookie rather than another person, just not comfortable betting/getting his money.

- Are there any sports events you would like to see available for p2p betting ?

I think almost all of the sports event are already available for online betting, only cockfighting at the moment is not available maybe because it is illegal in some countries.

You have a nice looking site but I would not be in a major hurry to deposit my BITCOIN

betting against each other are not possible for all the games so what kind of games are you giving this feature available.

And also I don't prefer much to bet and peer to peer site because we can do it on our own rather than going for some site and depositing our money and then getting in return later.

It sounds interesting.
Just two cents, P2P should have escrow service built-in to avoid scenario when the loser refuses to pay. I'm more comfortable to create bet events in private, just like good old days, except with the help of technology to simplify things. Also, users should be able to tailor the activities with a handicap or other customized stuff.

But this gambling system seems slow because you have to wait for the odds agreed by both parties right? this indeed reminds us of the
old way, and I still gamble with my friends for soccer betting too. there are still rare gambling sites that use this kind of system.

Just to clarify two things:

1) You can only use ETH to bet on FairPlay. We would love to be able to support BTC but writing smart contracts for bitcoin seems really hard.

2) The platform is based on a smart contract which means that all actions that can be performed are described there with code that is publicly available and immutable.
For example when you deposit money, the money goes to the smart contract and we, the platform owners,  have absolutely no control over it. You are always in control of your money and you can make sure of it by reading the code of the smart contract*: FairPlay Smart Contract
We cannot perform any action to modify this contract.
* You have to be able to understand the code to do this but even if you don't, since this is public, there are many people who can read it and tell if there is something sketchy with the website of not.

Yes, i understand what you mean. I also tend to leave websites when they request 3rd party plugin etc.
The thing is that MetaMask is the best way to interact with a DApp right now so we decided to go that way.

We support all kinds of sports games.
For example in the NBA Finals event if you chose to bet on the Raptors you are betting against everyone who bets on the Warriors.
So, if you win, you will take the money of those who bet on the Warriors.
In a more complex example: In a few days we will create a new bet event for the "English Premier League Winner".
All 20 premier league teams will be available to bet on. So when you bet on a team you are actually betting against all the other people that will place
bets on any of the other 19 teams.

I Agree with you on both points you made.
Concerning the escrow, right now we don't allow players to create their own bet events yet, we only allow betting on predefined events (we create the events and we also supply the result) so there is no way for someone not to pay if he loses (based on the smart contract code).
On the next version of the platform we intend to allow players to create bet events. What we have in mind is to give them the option to add escrow addresses during the bet creation process to handle potential disputes.

The idea is that people can bet freely on every option and in the end those who bet on the winning option will share (based on the amount of their bets)
the stakes of those on the losing side.
The odds are created dynamically as more people keep betting on various options.

I like the player vs. player betting model,because the bookies are usually lowering all the odds so it's hard to find a "high value bet".It will be great if there was a good crypto sports betting p2p exchange.Good luck with your project,OP.

I like sports betting against friends, that's really cool and is a very common practice in Brazil.
Against strangers is a total different dynamic. It's also cool, but harder for newcomers.

Unless I am very experienced, I would not try. That's like a newbie playing online against veterans lol

Some people like to bet against bookies and some other like playing against another player.It depends on what the individual gambler like.I don't like playing against other players in sport betting as their choices distract me while the bookie has only three outcomes as the main bets in moneyline.As a concept though player against player is a nice one.

Betting against other player is a traditional way of gambling in real life. So, I think it would be something new online since most sports betting online is done by bookies. I don't gamble so much, but I like the concept of the website. Good luck, hoping for further development in your platform.

so your role in this type of betting is like being an escrow where you hold the btc and give the btc to those who won

Our role in this is to provide the events to bet on and verify the final outcome of each event (we play the role of an Oracle).
Other than this, everything else is done with code (and we cannot change this code).
We do not hold any money and we don't have the power to give money to anyone. Every user is always in control of his money and this is all done with an immutable smart contract.

Also to clarify: We do not support BTC unfortunately. You can only with ETH.

and the payment for your service will be paid by both party in the start of the game or just the one who made the event?

We only take a small percentage from the winnings (from the money of the player(s) who lost the bet.
The person who won get his money back + winnings - our fee.
