Although am new to this kind of report, but wonder how such massive transfer of merit within some few minutes for just spreading Bitcoin FS on the entire forum. Let the concern forum members look into this abuse as it look like merit sales.

From
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=93373

To
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=521956

If this is an offense, please kindly pardon me, thanks.

The same sender just send another merit again, what is then called Merit Abuse? pleas can somebody help to explain to me please?

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

It definitely looks dubious. However, we need more proof that it is actually a merit sale before tagging the account. Since the merit sale was probably done offsite, in secrecy, it will be hard to prove this.

Edit: It is interesting that the receiver opened a topic on how to get an avatar, just yesterday. Now it appears the receiver is posting frantically and magically gets huge merits for some rather skimpy posts. Unfortunately for him, his activity can only go up by 14 per 2 weeks. It will take over a month for him to get the required activity to be a full member and more than double the merits he currently received.

Those posts that got merited were total garbage in terms of quality/content, and they certainly didn't deserve all that merit.  I strongly suspect there was a deal made behind the scenes, i.e., this is either a merit sale--or this could be merit being given to a friend or alt account.

This was a good catch, OP.  But as far as MicroGuy getting tagged, it'll be hit-or-miss.  Merit abusers often don't get negged unless it's obvious and blatant, and I'm not sure if this rises to that level.  I stopped handing out negs for merit abuse just because of all the inherent subjectivity when it comes to what constitutes a good post and why someone would give merits.  Others may feel differently and honestly it wouldn't bother me in the least if MicroGuy got tagged for this.

Merited posts are not worthy of merit in my opinion. Likely both account controlled by same guy or sold merit although I don't have enough evidence about it. However I will not tag them till got enough evidence.

Noticed merit sender likely spend his/her Airdrop merit. Spending merit better than dry (IMO). If someone have enough time they could look on it deeply if accounts are connected.

<.......>, it will be hard to prove this.

Meaning nothing can be done for such act of merit abuse? The said account is spreading some unrealistic projects across the forum. Another question for the DT: Does those replies worth such merit? How do you allow this to go just like that, becasue of prove? Believe me, there's nothing on the merited replies; that merit even one (merit) to talk of 25 and 20 merit at a blow.  Huh

For you standing bold i appreciate you, becasue nothing on these post that warrant such huge merit from the sender, also, they hold these merit without looking out for good posters. Let this serve as a deterrent to others who careless for good posters who are not getting a fair share on the forum.

Giving red trust for merit abuse is generally considered a no no unless there is a solid case of merit sale or merits between alt accounts. Theymos can reverse merits; however the giver is not a merit source. Therefore, the only way that I can see Theymos reversing the merits is if it can be established that the giver is a hacked account.

In the minutes before you created this topic, I reported 17 of his posts for spam. They're still Unhandled, let's see if he gets banned.

Unfortunately for him, his activity can only go up by 14 per 2 weeks. It will take over a month for him to get the required activity to be a full member
It's an old account. I didn't check exactly, but he may have posted in enough 14 day periods to have enough "potential Activity" to reach Full Member. A bit more spam and we'll know, unless he gets banned first Tongue

I forgot about that. I counted 8 alone on his first two pages. He'll have enough activity. Just needs to conjure up more merits.
(Looks like Microguy gave him 5 more for a shit post.)

Tagging for merits is another thing while tagging for unrealistic or scam projects is another, you cannot simply link the two and tag them from both so not unless we have hard proof that the merits is sent for sale or to his farmed account the merit sender cannot be painted red by the DT members. Most likely we have to wait until this guy slip and create a mistake with his supposed transactions.

I haven't kept tabs on MicroGuy recently but he's been a more innovative and constructive member of the forum than most and for longer than most. He also has P2P Foundation account and is (was) generally held in high esteem by the community. I'd say don't paint him for merit abuse unless there is firm evidence of merit sales or trading (not that it would benefit him much because he has a Legendary account).

He's not a merit source and hasn't accrued much merit outside of his airdropped amount... Not worth tarnishing his account over. The account also didn't recently change hands as he continues to post in threads of projects he created or has had a hand in for a number of years.

No, I am not encourage to paint him or any other such as case since sender spend his/her Airdrop smerit ( I already stated it on my previous reply). I know sender somehow abuse merit system as well, because posts aren't worth of even SINGLE merit. However since there no evidence of connected account or merit sell I don't think DT should tag sender. And noticed that receiver has been got tag but it's not for merit abuse.
