I have been scammed recently and i am trying to investigate to track the scammer.

In one of his scams for ripple, he asked people to send the coins to the address in the link below with DESTINATION TAG- 3442106114

https://bithomp.com/explorer/rf4nfAvyX31VbHG73k2PTm5L4vwTNFfSro

is there a way to find the exchange associated with the above TAG number, if i know the exchange i can contact exchange and try to trace him.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Contact the police and give them the information.
There is no way to recover the funds.

You can post further information about the scam to stop others falling victim to this scam that would be helpful.

The police will only help you if Bitcoin is legal in your jurisdiction, in you country.If it is not legal then the police can't do much and beside that it is very difficult to track where the money have gone.

979 XRP was sent to Freewallet address as identified by the explorer you mentioned: https://bithomp.com/explorer/4A1E2158DE448FE8B97A0B2E82528536121B35C56D7CD46C6805B99E37C3CB93

Maybe they can help you with it: https://support.freewallet.org/support/home or you can send a message to their BTCtalk profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1177176

@Avirunes.

Thank you, I will contact them and see if they can help me.

I have trouble understanding this transaction, if you see it there is coinbase pro mentioned.

Does it mean he had an account open with coinbase before he moved the coins to freewallet.

What's coinbase pro there?   https://bithomp.com/explorer/rf4nfAvyX31VbHG73k2PTm5L4vwTNFfSro

I am also not much familiar with XRP explorer but my  guess is that Coinbase pro is the owner of the address from which 1000 XRP tokens were sent to rf4nfAvyX31VbHG73k2PTm5L4vwTNFfSro . Btw from where did you send the 1000XRP tokens from- personal wallet or exchange wallet (provide the name) ?

Could you add some more details in your main post explaining what happened in your case. Also please attach screenshots of chats and how you come in contact with the person. This will help to narrow down the scammer and place a warning on his profile.

Hi again!

We checked from our side and found out that the funds never came to us. We believe that whoever got access to the XRP, wrote down Freewallet in the explorer to throw you off the path.

We are so sorry about this whole trouble, please stay safe!

@Freewallet.

Thank you for the response.
is there is a way to find out the address belong to which wallet or exchange base upon the format? That would be great,
And the destination tag he asked to mention was 3442106114, can we find which exchange does that tag number belong to?

Thanks
