Hello,

New to Bitcoin and the forums here - looking forward to discussing Bitcoin.

I'm looking for advice; should I make Bitcoin the default payment for my new marketplace app? The idea is to allow folks to sell anything and right now I've not implemented any payment gateway. I've used Paypal and I'm aware of Stripe/other new entrants but I'm keen to go with Bitcoin.

Thanks.

Welcome. Not sure about default, more like one of the payment methods.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. I think when Coinbase and other wallets become more accepted and grow in terms of user base it would be a good time to add the functionality.

Yeah of course you should do that!!! but thinking from business point of view i would sugget do not get centralized on one payment method for instance if you only want to go for crypto currencies then along with btc also have ltc and altcoin as an alternate payment method and if you want to focus on btc only then do accept credit cards or maybe Paypal as an alternative as this will open you to more potential customers !! good luck

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'm think as I want to get v1 of the app out, I'll launch without a payment option but I'll definitely add options in subsequent releases. Hopefully we get more awareness of Bitcoin and acceptance which should make it the most popular way to pay.

Don't make it the default payment type, most people don't use/know btc yet and you will lose a lot of customers.
Just add it among others like PayPal.

I would add as many payment channels as feasible, not only bitcoin. There are many people out there not knowing how to buy or send bitcoins.

IMO it would be a good idea to set bitcoin as the default option.  Smiley

Hello,

If you want to see your sales explode through the roof, add coinpayments.net and start accepting altcoins.

You should definitely add bitcoin as a payment option, but I am not sure if it should be set as the default payment option to be honest.
