I'm working on a football (soccer) betting site, and I'd like to know if it is worth the effort to add the feature to allow no-registration bets. Has it ever been a deciding factor when you pick a site to bet on?

Yes, giving access for anonymous betting is truly a deciding factor when users choose the respective gambling website for gambling. For the same you could analyze about the previous popular gambling website directbet. Earlier majority of the users preferred for the anonymity it provides. After its closure large number of users moved to other gambling websites, until then it was the one that gets high priority for sports betting.

Of course we want it, Directbet number 1 in the gambling industry, if there a site that is almost similar to it we will definitely be very happy. OP must see the footprint in this forum regarding the site, anonymously for us it has very similar values to crypto so it will grow the success of OP site. The most important thing is the promotion of bonus competitions to attract other whale boss class gamblers Wink.

It opens up room for abuse. If there is no type of regulation or KYC what would prevent a football team from a lower division to bet on their own match and earn money from their loss? If the site offers anonymous betting there is no way of knowing who made the bets without following the money trail.

It will definitely be desire if the soccer bet platform can play along with cryptocurrency, but when the bet soccer platform is mainly for fiat only, there will a huge set back. Cryptocurrency be a anonymous coins, make people to embrace it existence and having it included into your platform will help you grow faster than your equal.

I was worried about this. I guess there has to be some trade-off if I want to give the users what they want

I think with all the surveillance going on in the world today from different governments it is only natural for gamblers to have a desire for a well established anonymous betting platform.I think that one example was directbet.eu where you didn't need to register in order to place a bet but you just deposited the amount you wanted to play and then you specified a btc address to receive your money in case of a winning bet.

I think we all need something like that without questions asked without Kyc or any other privacy break rule.

I think if you want to be a serious sports bet provider, you should aim to be regulated, and it means that KYC/AML is inevitable. Of course, bettors want to be anonymous (including me) to get rid of the hassle when withdrawing money.

Other than abuse as mentioned by @Pmalek, anonymous casino prone to the government takedown, licensing, and other trust problems.

KYC is definitely a requirement in most regulated markets, and gambling sites risk shutdown by some governments for non-compliance, but does this apply if most countries haven't yet accepted cryptocurrencies as legal tender?

Directbet has been shutted down/closed IMO, it's not the number #1 in sport betting since more than a year ago.
Fyi, there are lot of people who don't like KYC. Mostly the reason is because it will take long time to make their account verified before they can start betting.

If it's built on crypto, there's no reason to require names and other personal data.

When transacting with fiat, you'd need to have legal contracts that will protect you in case a customer request a rollback in their payment. But since with crypto a transaction cannot be rolled back, you don't need any verification other than the money having been received to your wallet.

That's a good point. Hadn't thought about it from that perspective.

Most gamblers desire to play in an anonymous gambling site but of course, in return, you do have to require them to pass the KYC verification first. Anonymous betting is a thing most of these days but of course, it will be open to some abusers that's why requiring to pass the KYC first is a must.

no registration at all? Not sure this is really necessary. Remember that most revenue come from returning customers, and if someone return it is more convenient to have registration in place to have wallets, etc. Do not mix it with KYC verification, this can be avoided.

It is very critical, we need our privacy so you better put that on your site if you are making one. We can't just show our identities to unknown personnel, it could lead to future issues. Some sites require emails and other identification for players to get in the game, and that just sucks. Anonymity is just important, especially for those new comers.

Well, Most people here prefer an anonymous kind of gaming space where they can have the privacy, I guess we can say that this is a good feature for the security of the player and the convenient of any player that wants to be sure that he would not blow up his cover when he doesn't like any gossip around about himself, But this is also an indication for bad people or scammers to surely abuse this kind of feature, And the players age would not be restricted if he or she doesn't have the right age in playing on a gambling site, I guess this feature of anonymity have a good side and a bad side depending on who's using it.

If login is required, at the very least, email is necessary. Account recovery has to be possible. I an understand removing other KYC options though.

True enough, there are two sides of the story here.
So for now, it is up to the dev to test the waters in this endeavor.
And since his doing the poll as well, he can get the feel of the community towards this feature.

If you have heard about directbet that was the site which offer betting on all sports without having to get registered on the site. Although they have been closed down but the directbet users are still missing that site. No other site offer such feature of betting without registration.
If you can establish such a betting site, you will attract a lot of users towards your site.
