It's a great way to promote bitcoin awareness. Some people have an idea about bitcoin but skeptical to go further to know it. So, I guess tipping via paper wallet and asking them to look for how to cash out their crypto.
Actually for m this is not promotion but more on educating people and helping them have another option in life, let us never forget that Satoshi created this to help people and not for any cause

There are pros and cons here but what matters is that the awareness.

That delivery girl/boy will have it engraved in their memory that they had a life event accepting something very unusual. May be after 10 years or 20 years or may be earlier than that they will discover the value of this and some day they will jump into Bitcoin.

Good work OP, nice creative idea.

i wonder if we'll ever find a solution to these problems because i absolutely love the idea.

I don't think there exists any solution to be found because it is going against the design of bitcoin which is secure with proof of work that translates into transactions being sent and included in a block to become irreversible and the owner be the only one having access to the private keys.

May be keep a copy of the private key and let the boy/girl tell to use this in the next x years. After x years if you do not see them transferred to any other address then you move the coins.

This way we can save the coins to be wasted in-case the receiver do not know what to do with the gift they got.

Sorry, but story resembles  a bedtime tale .  I don't get  how you could send her a tip if (from what you just said) she had very little  knowledge on bitcoin. Sure you could generate a new address for her, send tip over there and hand out the relevant QR, but the questions remain whether you had time for that and if she was intelligent enough to utilize that QR.

These days we have google and other search engines to find anything we want. If the person have this intelligence that to find something she needs to use the search engine then they will figure out the rest.

I just love paper wallets and I frequently give funded paper wallets as gifts for Birthdays and Xmas gifts. I tell them that I will move the coins from that wallet to another wallet within 1 year of giving the gift, if they do not move those funds within that year to their own wallet. I also provide them with a step by step guide on how to sweep that wallet onto another Bitcoin address, so it is just laziness if they do not do it themselves.  Wink

The money on the paper wallet is enough of an incentive to get them to follow the guide to either sweep the coins or to cash it out.  Wink  <I have 1000s of paper wallets that I printed a year or two ago and none of them have been compromised.>  Wink

That's something amazing you did there , you could have just started a new trend trust me.
The fact that you are Killing two birds with one stone:-

 1. Telling people about Bitcoins , engaging them in that
 2. Completing out normal day to day activities with the use of Bitcoins.

Loved your idea , am glad you did that , maybe she will start using Bitcoin more , instead of encashing now and it's just amazing.

Good work bro.

True that, I mean it's a tip, anyone who got tip should be grateful regardless what kind of tip she/he receives as long as it's valuable, telling them to search up for bitcoin will get them to understand it anyway, not to mention that most of people right now have higher IQ than decades ago.

Is a good way to promote crypto, i wish all people to do this if they afford and maybe there will be mass adoption only if people will learn how to use it and after we can have a new ATH for price.

Last night I ordered a pizza for my family and I. I used a gift card to pay. I don’t carry cash but I have a bunch of unused paper wallets. When the delivery girl got to my house I asked, “Do you use bitcoin?” I could tell she knew of it, but wasn’t to familiar. So, I told her I want to tip her, but would she accept bitcoin. Her eyes lit up and she agreed.

So, I grabbed a spare paper wallet, scanned the QR code, sent the tip, gave her the wallet, and before she left I told her to google “bitcoin paper wallet cash out” or something like that if she wants fiat. She genuinely seemed excited.

I did same thing a few days ago and that delivery boy had the same reaction.

For people who are unsure or skeptical, I think this is a good idea for everyone in the space bc 1)it’s a direct connection to one’s labor, 2) the face-to-face voluntary transaction of tipping is apart of the Satoshi ethos, 3)its something physical, 4)the physical paper will help them understand the abstract aspect of money and 5)it creates a financial incentive for them to give bitcoin cursory examination, at least.

At that point, I hope they continue  down the Rothbardian hole and see the fed (and all central banking) for the criminal instruction they are.

Thoughts?

You have done well because you have gone beyond the online proclamation of bitcoin or crypto currency, you have done the physical which would make a lasting impact beyond what anyone could imagine as the people involved are more likely to share with their friends the generous customer they attended to and how he chose to pay them for their dedication. It further would ignite their interest for learning more on their own and the workings of the crypto world.

Thank you once again...
