A Request For The Other Merit Sources

This is a bit silly, but my 50 sMerits isn't enough to award posts wothin 30 days. Even if I only award posts by 1 Merit each, there are already countless of users that deserves to be rewarded by Merits.

So I'm requesting for help to other Sources to give us a hand until we have enough Merits to circulate across our board. I can assure you that the posts will be enough worthy for your unspent sMerits.

I know that some of you are just fond of hoarding it, but still I'm giving my biggest thanks for giving us your help. Recently, another Source has given my Board 300 sMerits so far. And that's a hell of a number. And thanks to that the Board is much lively again. I am thinking that with the help of the other Sources we can achieve what we aim for our Board. And then the only thing will be left is the cleaning of garbage post from back then.

I will gladly accept all of your suggestions, feedbacks and other replies  regarding this request. TIA.

Do you have any examples of posts without merit that should have merit?

I went through my source merit in about a week and a half and depleted my personal sMerit not long after. I generally spend merit as I get it.

Basically, we don't need to see high inflation rate of sMerits. Do you agree with this point, cabalism13?
No matter whatever areas we join, in crypto, in stocks, in any kind of financial markets, and in the forum, high inflation rates always equal to auto-degradation over time.
Therefore, I don't think we should see both higher inflation of merit sources and allocated sendable merits.
Giving users competitive surroundings to show off their constributions via constructive posts will be better for the forum.
Additionally, there is another fact that part of users turn to more lazy when they hit their targets. For instance, if a user at Full Member rank reaches a Senior Member rank after months of continuous contributed to their local boards; that user might turn to lazy because thinking that the next rank (Hero Member) is too far away, and something like unreachable. Then, that user's average level of contructive posts will decrease. Hence, I think that we need to have highly challenging forum, with low inflational sMerits, in order to create good posting habits, then users will hardly turn back into spam or low quality posts after hitting their desired ranks.

I would take it as different. Share more sMerit, get them encouraged, get more quality content. That's what I have observed from Indian local section. I would like to request you to check the altcoin section. It's not easy to find merit worthy post but sharing some sMerit could encourage some people to post more quality content.

I am a regular there and very often I see people are making constructive posts but since I always do not have sMerits (currently out of sMerits too) I can not merit them. Talking about spam like posts, I think it's not only there but in everywhere in the forum but still there are good posters all over the forum who deserves merit.

The 50 smerit allocated to you as an individual merit source for 30days might not be enough for you that is very understandable but look at it like this you are not the only smerit source. There are over/or 129 merit sources which are giving 50smerit sources just as you are so by calculations is quite fair beside some merit sources find it difficult finding posts what merit due to numerous spam post.

Maybe another solution for that local board is to have another merit source for you. This might be a better solution since you are guaranteed that the merit source will only be more focus on that board. The only problem about this is of course the application process they will have to go through and barely theymos doesn't really add new merit sources in the forum anymore.

Having the same problem currently, but I have to make due with even less than that.
Currently getting 10 smerits per month, I've had to bookmark a bunch of posts in the past, just so I could give them some merits when my source replenished or when I earned some more.

Not really complaining though, it's not that hard to just earn some more myself and just use those.

It will only be possible if my statements where about to be witnessed and verified by the other Sources. That we will be needing another Source for our Board. If I can get the support from other Sources then the admin might consider giving us another Source or just consider my request to admin.

Just been staying in the shadows for a while, and just watching my board to go differently from the past. So getting myself Merits will require me for some activity (troll)... Trolls are being kicked out so my time has come to get a vacation from trolling trolls.

I am.also thinking the same thing. There are many witty users out there and even had long and quality post. With just a thread that one can open definitely under its replies just even scanning you can sense there are users that are really goos in gambling.

Whether it is gambling or not the important is that the user contributed that much and in gambling a quality poster contributed for the gamblers.

One thing also I found in gambling section is that it was not being totally recognized as one needs to develop like having a rules and regulations for the gamblers that should be posted as a sticky threads. Thus, will help gamblers to be reminded and should be responsible when gambling.

I do believe that admins are treating for every sections of forum equally but I am hoping that merits could also be provided in that area as it needs to have a merit source for tge gamblers.

The threads that have been created where people link to posts just haven't worked out IMO.  LoyceV's is the last I know of, and it's usually all Legendary accounts making the merit-worthy posts.  I'd much prefer to merit lower-ranked members.

I guess you are talking about local section so most of the other merit sources can't help you if they don't understand your language.

So it is better to propose theymos for higher smerits per month so you can use them for meriting all the worthy posts.

There's a reason we all were given 50 merits to start with, you have to prove you're capable of managing the little you have for more to be given.

I don't know the proportional allocation of Sendable merits for each newest merit source, but I guess each new merit source has different sMerits allocated per month. That likely depends on quality and trust of each new source (on the head admin's perspective). 30 sMerits or 50 sMerits for each source, that depends. If you all said the truth, cabalism13 received 30 sMerits per month, and you received 50 sMerits per month.

Yes. I've become a bit disenchanted with politics here. Topics seem to be restricted to street level discussins, and my puppet master posts seem to be deleted. I'm interested in world politics and the current changes, and I'm becoming active in a few projects. I' looking into starting a wildlife trust for example. So topics about the environmental problems you are having would also be good. I'm not sure where to post them though - maybe serious discussion or off topic would be suitable.

I am also frequently out of both source merits and my own merits, so I'm not sure I can give you much help here. What I would say, however, is this:

If someone links me to a good post in a language I don't speak, I'm more than happy to run it through Google translate or similar and work my way through the (usually quite poor) machine translation to get the general feel of the post and award it some merit if it deserves it. However, translating entire threads and reading spam comments which have been made even worse by being machine translated is both time-consuming and headache-inducing. My time is usually better spent searching for good newbie posts in the English boards. I would suggest creating a thread to list good Filipino posts which sources (or other users) could refer to.

That you're made a source to you local board doesn't mean you should go around meriting every post you see, set a daily limit and also set some high standards. There's a reason we all were given 50 merits to start with, you have to prove you're capable of managing the little you have for more to be given. Also try to earn more individual merits and make use of them wisely.

It's too soon to complain, you might be sending the wrong message, learn to manage the little you have if not you might misuse the large allocations when it do come.

I can't hardly disagree to this fact. And yeah, I also thought a way on how should I preserve it for a month. So I might soon disregard finding JUST GOOD posts and proceed to the better one.

No, he also received 50 smerits via source allocation and it only changes after you have showed some management quality. I'm sure there are some old sources still on the two figure allocations. Don't expect theymos to hand over hundreds of smerits to newly appointed source as they have to prove they can manage it properly by managing the lower amounts first. If you're a christian you can relate to the story of a king giving different servant different talent based on their ability and those who prove they can manage their talents got more.

Though I also thought about this, if theymos has really find us managing our 50sMerits  well, then he could have also not give us a chance to have a large pouch,  for he might think that 50 sMerits is already enough for us, for we don't find good posts.

Whatever he may think, I will just try to hoard it until I have a large amount of sMerits to give and will just have rely on other Sources who does have a huge amount of sMerits.
In fact, I already have a list for me to keep track on good posts. I'll just disregard GOOD POSTS for now, and if granted upon request, I will come back to my lists. So I humbly request for the other's help.

Using google translate is the key for him/her to give us another hope and opportunity to make a move again. Well, there are some points that merits is not the priority but it acts as a thing to motivate you to work hard and grind more, it will serve as your achievements too.

It's normal to have small sMerits in the first month, your sMerits is directly proportional to your number of months of being an active merit source. So I think waiting is the right thing to do than requesting to load you a huge amount of sMerits.

I have been a source for a number of months now, and my allocation hasn't changed. There are many other sources in the same boat as me. theymos manually adjusts the merit allocation as required, and some sources can see a sudden increase or decrease in the amount of sMerit they are given to spend, depending on if they are using it all and if he decides more or less merit is needed in circulation.

I kinda agree with what you've said here, it's all about managing your source smerits.
For the record, I've mentioned this earlier, I only have 10 smerits per month from my source and in the end I do actually manage just fine.

Now, I personally don't really hold posts to a higher standard because of the low amount of source smerits that I receive. When I see a post that I like, I give it some merit, simple as that. 
When my merit is gone, it's gone. If I see a great post when I don't have any left, I bookmark it (as mentioned before in this thread).

No need to create some additional ivory tower in my opinion, I also want the regular non-spamming members to get a chance.

I have only 25 sMerits available for 30 days
That's why I'm also forced to choose posts and I can not reward every post that deserves merit, not just in my local section but in the whole forum.
Previous merit source from Croatian section had 100 smerits available every month.
I send pm to theymos about it but didn't receive answer.
So, I have no choice but to skip many good quality posts on this forum which deserves merit.

Really? Then it's a bit of luck if you have a bigger amount of sMerits than the past. So the increase of sMerits depends on the action for being a merit source, I see. Thanks. I thought it's normal to have a small sMerits then increasing when time passed by. In this case, if our source really wants to be allocated a huge amount of sMerits and give more to our local, he/she should spend it to quality posts in the local.

Well when I said high standard I didn't mean like that of the moderation of the mining board . And sure as sources we have to loosen up sometimes but I don't agree with you on the like a post before you merit aspect as doing so won't just be fair to the system.

I read through lot of spam daily as I'll be basing most of my June allocation (when I do recieve) in the alternative subsection because that was my board of attention when applying to be a source that's why I have set a little bit of high standard in order to avoid meriting the wrong set of posters although I have exausted my earlier source allocation too due to lack of proper management that's why I'm emphasizing on proper management so our source smerits can see us through the month and as newly appointed merit sources we should also try to earn individual merits to get some earned smerits for support.

As a source, you should not repeatedly make such typo. I agree that sources should use merits wisely and appropriately, but there are things out of control of merit sources. LoyceV has a topic on this (I will update link later when I find it).
As sources, quality, and reputation, earning merits become easier, so surely that you can do this naturally. Contributions is likely natural and habitual character of merit sources.

So I'm requesting for help to other Sources to give us a hand until we have enough Merits to circulate across our board. I can assure you that the posts will be enough worthy for your unspent sMerits.

I know that some of you are just fond of hoarding it, but still I'm giving my biggest thanks for giving us your help. Recently, another Source has given my Board 300 sMerits so far. And that's a hell of a number. And thanks to that the Board is much lively again. I am thinking that with the help of the other Sources we can achieve what we aim for our Board. And then the only thing will be left is the cleaning of garbage post from back then.

I will gladly accept all of your suggestions, feedbacks and other replies  regarding this request. TIA.

I do understand you, I was also out faster and instant spent my merit that I have had received while spending my source merits....

I always have earned a lot of merit and never hoard them always send out to appropriate posts ..., as a source I look more and at more different places so sending merit is going way faster as well...

Also have answered the last pm from theymos combined with a source question, if you read it and would approve an increase, that would be very helpful...
I'm a daily user of the forum as well and spend a lot of time here, so yeah merit can go fast at some days.

As a source, you should not repeatedly make such typo.

For clarification, english isn't my first language although it's our (country's) official language. Whether I'm a merit source or not doesn't mean I should be immune to english typo as far as I can pass on my message clearly it's ok infact I don't understand what your correct was all about but I guess that was a typographical error and not a wrong english per say so if you're speaking of using correct english, mine is better than the average forum user so don't make a big deal of every mistakes you see unless such mistakes give the sentence a different meaning.

Indeed, it has nothing to do with being a source as for us who can be in a local section and be able to speak in English is only better!!!

I am more in local boards (German Board & Turkish Board). However, most merits are distributed in global boards as most sources of merits are available here. In the local boards but also daily high-quality posts are published, which deserve more merits. Not every user is fluent in the English language to actively participate in global boards. These are already a bit disadvantaged.

Perhaps the local boards will soon attract more attention.

Important is and remains: Good posts should really be rewarded with merits that help other users with their investment and support them: Whether local or global.

Before we had another merit source with 100 sMerits available but he is banned now.

You are not the only one. I am pretty sure there is another merit source in our local board with 10 source merits each month.

There is no possible way to merit all posts and I don't think skipping posts to wait for better one is good solution.
