Two slovenians an american and a spaniard are charged with bank wire fraud and racketeering.
US authorities are charging Matjaz Skorjanc the founder of NiceHash with racketeering & conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

"The two suspects from Slovenia are Matjaž Škorjanc, 32, and Mentor Leniqi, a 35-year old Serbian citizen, who are together with the Spanish citizen still fugitives.
The US authorities issued arrest warrants for them, while US citizen Thomas McCormick, 26, was arrested last December, a few days after the sealed indictments were filed, according to a US Attorney Office release."

Just so you know, the news have nothing to do with Nicehash, the authorities are going after especific individuals.

But you should never trust 3rd-parties to hold your cryptos, that's like the #1 rule in the cryptosphere, especially if you know that the site was hacked in the past. So, even though Nicehash reimbursed most of the funds stolen two years ago, I don't think the customers funds are safe. If you have any coins in that site, get them out asap.

Looks like this news is more related to the black marketplace he created rather than the NiceHash all the articles are relating it to him, the later is only linked because the founder is involved in crypto, he isn't even directly affiliated to NiceHash anymore. But what I really notice is that the authorities are heavily targeting big names in the crypto industry and I think its their way to get the big fishes out.

No one on this forum knows that. If charges are pressed only against those people then everyone is fine. But if they ever used their project in their activities then there is a risk of arresting all funds on their problem. The same thing os more likely to happen if they used money they received from illegal activities for their project.
Anyway, if CEO of the project is arrested for a financial crime then it is a huge red sign for all of their users.
I would recommend Nicehash users to withdraw their funds for better safe.

NiceHash statement regarding latest allegations
2019-06-11
Ljubljana, June 11, 2019 - In the past few days, the news regarding Matjaz Skorjanc, NiceHash co-founder, has emerged on the web. The main reason is that the US Federal Court in Washington has unsealed an indictment against Matjaz Skorjanc. Although this procedure is not related to NiceHash operations, we want to give an official statement to address this situation and clarify some misinformation.

A US Federal Court in Washington has unsealed an indictment identical to the case from the past (several years ago) for which Matjaz Skorjanc has already served the sentence in full.

The current indictment against Matjaz Skorjanc is not related to NiceHash operations. NiceHash will continue to operate normally and the service is working without any issues.

All Nicehash users should be safe,I guess.

Maybe people who use nicehash will lose trust, and start using another site or trying solo mining, but maybe some people will still use the site if they not meet any problem.

If there is a crime, of course it will be the result of the trial. But I'm sure if there was the right legal infrastructure, more people would be blamed.

Thanks for posting this. I recently came across this news and I'm somewhat dumbfounded since the person in question is not related or affiliated to NiceHash anymore. Also, it's just rightful for Matjaz Skorjanc to be pursued by law enforcement as his escapades involves a black marketplace stint he did after (?) founding NiceHash.

Maybe people who use nicehash will lose trust, and start using another site or trying solo mining, but maybe some people will still use the site if they not meet any problem.

I don't think so, they already lost trust to the site since the 2017 hack, and only a handful of supporters are still using that service every now and then.

People don't really solomine. Unless it's for a new currency when the difficulty is low. There still many pools to join. Pools come out along with the currency. They cannot steal from you on a pool since the pay goes directly to your wallet address. They do charge a fee but that's only fair. I think most nicehash users have moved away from it to elsewhere. I would.

Yes keep your own crypto on your own wallet .
You should always be in control of your own crypto or wallet no matter how safe they might be ,
We couldn't be 100% sure that the hackers wouldn't find a way to get into their system just look at binance ,
It was said to be one of the most trusted trading site but still get their system hacked.
So we should be the one to take care on our own crypto funds.

To be fair crypto was created for that purpose to never trust your money to 3rd party service but as always, bitcoin become commercial thing, btw I don't care in others money, I know mine is safe. Do you want to feel safe? Do what you have to do, otherwise don't blame others.
News is very interesting, btw this person is really talented man if we consider the fact that claims which are and were against him are 100% right.

I'm pretty sure that this word is a big relief for those who do have funds in nicehash.Im not really surprised on these kind of news
yet authority will surely have that kind of things on targeting big personalities here on crypto world. If they do involved on past
illegal things on government jurisdiction. These kind of tie ups will really be known but its good that nicehash do make clarification on this issue.

Sometimes, One wrong mistake could ruin the reputation of an exchange or a certain coin but there's an exception sometimes. I'm sure that despite the controversy, nice hash would still pursue and continue with the services that they're offering.

Good thing I have withdrawn my balances in nicehash when the time  I was still using their app. I stopped using the mining app when BTC was going to 8k, and continued to mine another coin. My colleagues already told me that there is something fishy in Nicehash so i took their advice and stopped.

Since the founder of Nicehash is involved in a fraud case, I think it will be a reason for users to lose their trust for this mining app. We all know how important the role of a founder is so if he has committed a mistake I think it's possible for him to do the same thing with Nicehash.

Of course. After that incident and issues, the trust of the users will be scattered. That's the main problem in every exchange. Individuals who fully entrusted their fund in a particular exchange will lose their confidence and be afraid of taking away their balances. Having a bad reputation will ruined everything. Users will definitely transfer to another exchange and that makes the company become deficit. Less users = bankruptcy.

Exceptions are only made when popular exchanges are involved. For example, Binance got hacked and they proceeded to reimburse the lost funds to their users thereby regaining their trust and proving that they are still reliable.

In case of Nicehash, it is clearly not that popular and this one mistake is enough to end everything for them. This has already happened to several smaller exchanges in the past where 1 mistake cost them everything.

For their customer who still use the service since the hack earlier in 2017 are their funds going to be consider safe to keep on their site accounts? Undecided

Well the ones who are using the service can not keep it in their own wallet because they are waiting until they have reached their minimum amount mining so they can request a withdrawal.
As with the others who have responded to the thread. I agree with you since he doesnt own the company any longer it is up to the current owners to do damage control on the sites reputation because many of their customers are moving their hash away from the site even though he has nothing to do with the company any longer.
If you just go on other forums and media like reddit, twitter and youtube nobody wants their crypto coming from them anymore or even being connected in someway shape of form.
With even a 1% chance of it being connected to any activity from their sites past owner knowing of the charges involved.
