Hello.

Due to new trust system, that was implemented today, be very careful if you are buying or selling anything. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5153344.0 Potential scammers profiles do not show red trust ratings any more. Because of this, before making any deal, please visit the person's profile. If this person is a potential scammer, instead of red tags you will see the orange marks like this.

You can clearly see orange colored trust score -16 in this profile. After that press the button Trust You will see red colored feedbacks like this:

More orange numbers means more negative trust. Same with feedbacks.

Here you can see how the potential scammers profile looks like:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2580400

DO TOT BUY OR SELL ANYTHING FROM PEOPLE WITH SUCH PROFILES. THERE IS A BIG POSSIBILITY THAT YOU WILL BE SCAMMED.

I didn´t like this new system very much....

A yellow color like this looks much more like a neutral trust than a negative trust. This Color should be bold red.

That's why I opened this new thread. Because the orange color can mislead newbies.

Ideally there shouldn't be a case of "i don't like this new system" becasue, it was just implemented some hours ago and we all should give it sometime to understand the system. Theymos has done the needful and we must commend him for this change and not be sabotaging the system.

Basically, Newbies quiet understand the difference between Positive(+) and Negative(-), and the Orange goes with the Negative(-); meaning that, there's a problem with such profile, mean while; cautiousness will be apply in dealing with such account and, opening the account profile give the written letters in RED, and he/she will not trade with such user or if he/she will do; he/she will be more extremely careful.

Even I did not understand correctly the meaning of orange numbers in trust scores before reading the explanation. So I'm quite sure, that this information will be useful for newbies.

I figure the orange colour is intended to mean "warning" as opposed to a red colour which would imply "avoid". Since the negative trust counter is just that (a counter), and cannot take into account the actual reasons left behind, then orange seems appropriate as a warning, and it is down to each of us to go into the trust page of a given profile and read through the Trusted/Untrusted feedback + Active/Inactive flags to get a proper understanding of the numbers on a case by case basis.

The example you’ve provided is well known on the Forum, but asserting he is a scammer is not, as far as I know, correct. His profile's feedback provides information that does not imply the account being a scammer, whether we like the user or not. The new system would vouch from now on for a red trust flag to be used if this were to be a fact, with the necessary support.

Nevertheless, it is good that you mentioned here that the trust system has changed quite a bit today, as most people do not visit Meta, and therefore miss out this type of information concerning forum updates. I've just read through the, so far, 11 pages of posts on the core thread, and still need to grasp a few user case scenarios that are not completely clear yet.

You are right ! Accusing of scamming based only on feedbacks from DT members might be not correct. That's why I added a word "Potential" It means that people with such profiles are "Potential scammers" In the last sentence this word was missing and I added it.  Thanks for a merit. Unfortunately I'm out of them and can't merit you back.

There is update on Scam Accusation thread's.

Quote
Warning: One or more bitcointalk.org users have reported that they believe that the creator of this topic displays some red flags which make them high-risk. (Check their trust page to see the detailed trust ratings.) While the bitcointalk.org administration does not verify such claims, you should proceed with extreme caution.

and on trust rating page also, users can support and oppse the flags.

You may update your thread with this too.

Regards.

But why there is a changes in the trust score calculation?

Theymos not happy with the DT feedbacks so he want to change the feedback impact on all the profiles?

Just like what theymos has said the old trust system will only be in favor of the old cases but if you think that the scammer is worthy to have a banner warning then that user can be flag with the new system which will give that scammer a "Warning: trade with extreme caution" sign on their accounts, I think this will be more effect compared to seeing -9999 or something which newbies won't understand entirely at first.

You can still use the old trust system for some kind of cases if that is needed !
Best example for it , is the " Fake Announcements " on the Altcoins sections with there Malware link spamming download link!
You have to choose it now wisely what you are doing because at first the created Flags cant be deleted by yourself and you should be clearly on the thing you will do!
In this case about the Fake Ann Gang and a few others you can give negative feedback without creating an flag for it , so users can see the feedback on there profile!
Guess this will be working out for the most accounts as it prospective will be nuked or something like this.
Anyway i just suggest if there are some Users want something from other users that they should look at there profil and look how the Users behave is or was !

Maybe we could help spread or prevent scam by posting on threads made/commented by those suspicious accounts, just in case some members don't make an account and there's no flag yet on those suspicious users. This might be covered by the first changes unless the user who tags the account is not in DT list (cmiiw).

Of course, we should start flags too.

This happens when the merit system also implemented but later people used to live with that so here also same applies like it or not just learn how the system works.

Myself also not familiar with the new trust score yet but most red turns into yellow and one positive feedback means one positive score so simple right. Smiley

It is just a color,  certain colors are not bad or good, they are neutral.  Red can also mean love, joy, happiness.  The trust system remains the same, don't let a color change your opinion on the system.  It is still working just fine.

I figure the orange colour is intended to mean "warning" as opposed to a red colour which would imply "avoid".

I just remember the traffic light which color is orange. It is something that a vehicle must stop or yield when crossing a street. But still this thread is very useful from the changes that the forum has made then clearly all users must be aware of this. No doubt that there are other users now still does not know this new update.

This is why I always visit this B&H and meta section. All things that are new will be posted here and many users also are concern with each other. Keep up the good work OP.
