Download UOS Alpha
This is prototype of UOS (Ultranet node, client and application environment)
It is currently at a very early alpha stage and mostly demonstrates UI aspect of the project.
Only Windows 7 and later currently supported.

There are two types of a software currently exist - websites and installable applications. Ultranet introduces a next generation of Internet software and open decentralized infrastructure for its distribution. The technology combines the advantages of both Web and local platforms complemented by the decentralization and trust provided by peer-to-peer and blockchain technologies. It has a potential to eventually make the Web, conventional applications and related infrastructure obsolete.

This is not a coin, token or smart-contract platform but it intensively utilizes technologies that stay behind them
There are no similar projects in the Internet so please read provided info carefully and try to understand what this project proposes for the community.

Project Principles:

•   Open platform to avoid any patent infringement cases; profit-oriented evolution strategy; and promotion of proprietary software
•   Completely free for users; free or as cheap as possible for publishers

Key Features:

•   Allows to build platform-independent applications that are accessible in a similar way to Web pages but appear and function like conventional local applications.
•   Open decentralized infrastructure for software distribution using existing IPFS network and Ethereum platform
•   Solves the problem when Dapp uses a website as UI, thus relying on a centralized infrastructure - webservers, which are vulnerable for DOS attacks and censorship
•   Unified platform-independent desktop/mobile/VR adaptive UI environment
•   The potential of replacing application-like HTML websites with a new technology that brings the full power of local applications.
•   3-levels of anti-malware protection for the infrastructure, local system and user data

The following are the major components of Ultranet technology:

Free Distribution Network – provides free and decentralized distribution of Ultranet applications and implemented on top of an IPFS global swarm.
Distributed Application Platform – a third-party general-purpose smart-contract platform (Ethereum by default) that is used to manage distribution and may be considered as a hybrid of a decentralized application store and a domain name system.
Anti-malware Protection Network – consists of several components that minimize the impact of malicious code on the whole Ultranet ecosystem. It comprises a distributed blockchain database of anti-malware analysis data acting as a decentralized certification service, and also a real-time signaling network for the rapid broadcasting of recently identified threats.
Unified Operation Superstructure – a cross-platform local system layer that provides a safe execution environment and allows developers to create cross-platform applications that are run as easily as the opening of a Web page, but with the full power of a local system.
Unified User Interaction Environment – a concept of unified UI that is able to adapt a single platform-independent user environment to desktop, mobile, and VR environments. It supports ordinary and ultra-wide monitors, double-screen laptops, mobile devices, and modern and future VR gears.

Anti-malware Protection Network - is the only component which introduces its own blockchain network with PoS consensus algorithm  and uses two separate tokens: ULT and APNT
ULT is an infrastructure-supporting and governance token. It is to be distributed via a token sale and will have a maximum supply of 1 billion tokens. When the ICO is finished, this token will be purchasable only on the free market.
APNT tokens allow Malware Analysers to add approval, revocation, and other records to the APN blockchain database. APNT tokens can be purchased either on the free market or directly from Ultranet Organization. To make the approval process affordable for any publisher, an APNT token has an unlimited supply, and the Ultranet Organization watches the market to hold its price as fair as possible.
Two tokens approach also solves the problem of PoS algorithm known as permanent nobility. A different tokens for block confirmation and for rewarding do not change the proportions of stakeholder deposits and so big deposits do not get bigger with time.

Below is how Ultranet can change things in the whole IT industry:

•   It’s completely free to use for all users. Only publishers pay a small fee for application verification, and this is not required and stands only for increasing the level of trust in their products.
•   The infrastructure does not require high-performance third-party Dapp and blockchain platforms, as all existing solutions are already powerful enough for all Ultranet functions.
•   The technology creates a demand on exising Ethereuem(and maybe some others) and IPFS networks and so helps their adoption and growth
•   Platform independence. Eventually, this platform may make the choice of local OS unimportant for users, so users will not need to choose between Windows, MacOS, and Linux anymore.
•   Utilizing various Dapp platforms as the application server-side (back-end) and Ultranet as the application client-side (front-end) gives rise to an ecosystem that is invulnerable to DDOS attacks. Moreover, Ultranet proposes a special protocol that is capable of actively shutting down any botnet that participates in such types of attack.
•   It’s not possible to ban a particular application or its distribution as it does not depend on a specific URL or IP address. Even publishers (without special measures) have no power to prevent users from using older versions if users are not satisfied with the latest ones.
•   There is the potential to create applications that work on various currently incompatible Linux distributions, which would give a new lease of life to the open-source community.
•   Utilizing anti-malware companies’ ad hoc infrastructure makes it possible to perform a much deeper and more comprehensive analysis of application code.
•   With pre-verified applications, users don't have to have a real-time anti-malware programs installed anymore and thus not to sacrifice performance of their devices
•   Today's situation with Huawei and Android is impossible on this platform as no licensing required for any component of the Ultranet

The technology is versatile and complex and requires a lot of further development so we are going to rise funds via ICO on Ethereum but this is not scheduled yet.

Shouldn't the "Anti-malware protection network" be actually engrained in the inherent features of the components of the architecture? what i mean is, take advantage of the already existing anti-abuse features of the blockchain, decentralised apps and IPFS

All networks involved in the technology have their own purpose and requirements. The major aspect of Anti-malware protection network (APN) is the decentralized registry which is controlled by a spacial Dapp embedded in it. So obviously this cant be integrated with IPFS network. "Decentralized Server" in fact is not an inherent  part of Ultranet and could be any exisiting platform which Ultranet Application uses as database server or similar.  There is a possibility that all APN features can be implemented on a some general-purpose smart-contact blockchain like Ethereum and so this would allow to combine DAP and APN under one existing platform and so eliminating the need of separate infrastructure for APN network but APN is currently under active R&D and we expect that APN technical requirements may exceed the limitations of exisiting dapp/smat-contact platforms

It may happen that exising platforms may appear to be not powerful enough even for DAP component purposes. In this case we will have to move all its functionality to APN network. But there are no signs of that so far.
