The widespread popularity of digital cryptocurrencies has led the foundation of Blockchain, which is fundamentally a public digital ledger to share information in a trustworthy and secure way. The concept and applications of Blockchain have now spread from cryptocurrencies to various other domains, including business process management, smart contracts, IoT and so on.

This course is a joint venture from academia and industry, where the target is to cover both the conceptual as well as application aspects of Blockchain. This includes the fundamental design and architectural primitives of Blockchain, the system and the security aspects, along with various use cases from different application domains.

Isn't it quite ironic that the Indian government offers such a course when its stance regarding cryptocurrencies is still on the negative? It doesn't make sense to me on how would the government encourage people to learn something on a field wherein the authorities themselves do not recognize as a legitimate/legal scene. Anyway though, blockchain and crypto coding courses are becoming more and more popular and in demand as the days go by. This just means that the blockchain and cryptocurrencies opened up a new pot of gold for developers who are looking for jobs that has long been saturated by a lot of professionals already.

Definitely weird, banning bitcoin, then offering courses on blockchain. Maybe the Indian government don't want to be left behind of the technology if ever blockchain technology is being utilized worldwide. Or they're planning how to fight those money laundering that taking advantage of the decentralized system. This move by the Indian government is really a wise move on their part.

Afaik, Blockchain Technology can be used to anything, not just cryptocurrency.
India, also other Asian countries who don't support cryptocurrency, but supports Blockchain Technology, the reason maybe they think it can be used for good.

There was a news a year or 2 ago from a country where Bitcoin is banned (I don't remember the country), the news was about Blockchain Technology for the mobile operators to implement into their system and get rid off from the traditional ones. They were planning it, sorry to say I don't know the current update.

I have read those news about the bills and the huge sentence where you will be going to jail for ten year even if you are holding bitcoin and i can still log into the site where i used to trade while i was in India and the site is still active, not sure what changes have being made and whether the news that is circulating is true or not, if there is a bill then the government has to decide about the future of the market, not sure whether they are competent enough to understand the market and come up with rules and regulations.

I agree with you. It's a big question for me. I'm wondering why they have to offer a Blockchain course if they are still planning to ban it. I guess, even if Indians would take this course, it will still be useless if they pass the banning of cryptocurrency in their country. They're confusing because they see crypto as a negative asset yet they're providing programs to pursue it.

Oh well, I guess we really have to admit to ourselves that some countries will really take a hard stance against bitcoin and crypto but they love the technology behind - Blockchain. I guess they just want to take advantage of this technology and how it will help their society, industries and sectors and even government themselves.

That is what I am confused of, they do not want to support the idea of using cryptocurrency and they are offer courses and careers related to blockchain technology. Their mindset contradicts on what they aim. It is confusing what is their real stand in crypto and blockchain tech. I guess they should have a clear decision on how will they treath crypto if they want to build a career around it.

Well this course isnt going to be free to attend just by looking at the audience being elec.& computer engrs who this sort of course content would attract.
So maybe they are just wanting to cash in on the crypto craze before their government proposing a bill to ban it leaving them all to look for work overseas.

You can propose any law you like it doesn't mean anyone will listen or vote for it. Further more law does not = right. If you think that then you live in a fantasy world. They very confused over there. There will be politicians on both sides. The ones that support crypto will win since it makes sense to your average educated logical person. There is no way that people, even those that do not use crypto are going to support such silly propositions.

He is right! It is not yet a law but a bill instead entitled  Banning of Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill 2019. That's why India can still freely offer courses about blockchain technology. How ironic, isn't it? There's nothing wrong about it however hey should first make sure that such bill have a greater chance for to get dumped because it will only become a waste of time for them making efforts for crypto adoption but lead them on violating a law in the future.

Things like this are somehow commonplace. Information always dies in the middle of the road, as if it will only become a temporary hype and drop the price of Bitcoin, the final destination whether or not it is valid, we do not know the continuation. In responding to things like this in the future, it should be normal to act as if nothing has happened.

usually people take courses after having acquired knowledge to implement in practice the knowledge acquired in the course. I wonder how someone who will do this course will go through the practice if they intend to create law that ban cryptos? What does the government really want? do they want a society that relies on religion and the restriction of their freedoms, or do they want a free and evolved society?

It is Ironic. but the reason why they are offering such course is to make they're own cryptocurrency (maybe) and eliminating bitcoin in their country is the first step to make their own cryptocurrency work and they probably realize that bitcoin is a competition and decided to eradicate bitcoin in their country. although this is only one of the reason why they are against bitcoin.
