mass adoption is very important for crypto currencies, but that can bring many challenges to particular coins, that will launch them into the heaven or stuck them in ashes. if we look at previous distractions of our life with technology, products that took primary role in the beginning were usually buried at the end and followers with best product took the lead

in an example that i have on my mind, regarding social networks, with recently closed website friendster, we have a situation that early adopting website, that had largest user base in the beginning is now closed, and most of younger people did not heard for it, friendster follower was myspace, that is also struggling, and youtube took the lead from my space and stayed on the top for a long time, until facebook sit on the top, and they are sitting there at the moment as well. in the meantime, there were wechat, tiktak, tumblr that position themselves behind the leading duo..

if we translate that to crypto market, do you see BTC as friendster, or my space, or you can see it like youtube or facebook (with ETH as second part of main duo), what is your opinion? also could we translate NEO on a wechat position, because of number of domestic users?

will be interesting to see how mass adoption phase will change the crypto market, could bring many surprises on the table, and the one who see those surprises in the beginning, could have profit similar to BTC early adopters

My take on this. bitcoin will always be the leading cryptocurrency. i doubt if any coin will supersede the bitcoin. truely adoption might alter the position but as long as new coins are paired with btc on the market, i doubt if they will submerge the bitcoin. also if you check the coinmarketcap, there are tokens costlier than bitcoin. they remains hidden.

I expect something similar. BTC will become something of an ancient gold coin of cultural and numismatic value. When some functional and useful altcoins become known all over the world. In the end, they have better technical parameters and functionality than Bitcoin and Ethereum.
It takes very little (or a lot Grin) of time to fix bugs, set up infrastructure, and mass adoption.

There is nothing more important for the crypto industry as the mass adoption. We can create so fast blockchains, useful coins, but who cares, if nobody will use them, thats why big companies are trying to catch the train right now.

that is my point also, you can be the first with idea, but if your development progress is low, other will copy the idea and provide better solution, that will have mass adoption
i think that ETH has better position from BTC in this regard at the moment

you can't  do that because bitcoin is not repetition of something that existed (a website) instead it is the new technology. so bitcoin is like the internet itself. and just like the internet people are skeptical at first but slowly are adopting it. and there will come a day that nobody can remember their lives before bitcoin/the internet existed.
but unlike the internet you can easily make your own, which is why so many altcoins like ethereum,... exist that have copied bitcoin.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

That is true and the Both is something different. YouTube, Facebook and others are entertainment platforms, so without them we can stay entertained and stay alive. This is different from Bitcoin, which has new technology to easy people's lives and especially to the Blockchain all transaction costs become cheaper, time efficient and more importantly to be more transparent.

Wow I didn't even know Friendster was still around actually, you know I totally skipped out on all those platforms, Friendster Myspace and Facebook. Until crypto I never even had a FB page and even so I eventually deleted it when I stopped following projects that needed FB.

I don't really see BTC as something like Friendster. We're talking about social media and popular mainstream use of non actual user apps, nothing like BTC in my idea.

Friendster lost in the competition because of bad management decision, they could have stopped Facebook while starting out but did not make the best situation when faced with it, and I don't see the comparison, because we are the whole community and holders who will decide on the fate of Bitcoin, I don't see being challenged even by this so-called Facebook coin.

It is true that when there is a pioneer in a technology they will take the lead up until a new tech out performs them. Though there is a difference in a market that is built in trust such as Bitcoin. As you can see that even tough BTC is the oldest cryptocurrency in the market it is still dominates more than half of the market volume, the reason is that majority of the crypto users / traders put trust and value to it the same way that they put value to USD and gold. And as long the the market trusts it and deemed valuable it will be at the top.

I fully agree with you, the only reason why BTC on top is that it had founded its base.  But everything will come to an end.  I believe one day, Bitcoin if it will not improve will slowly step down from its throne.  Those that have a huge userbase, better technology and great development progress will eventually take the top position.  For now it is quite hard to see because several contenders have not fully delivered their promised products.  Probably if Bitcoin development stagnate for another 10 years, we can see a new cryptocurrency taking over the crypto throne.

Friendster stopped and failed to evolve adopting the changes in technology.  That is the lesson facebook learned that is why they are adopting the trend.  To keep their users happy, except for the annoying ads and intrusive messenger application on phone.

If you want to make comparison then do it right, maybe you should think of what will take over the Internet for instance because Internet is older than all the above social media you mentioned, or something that will take over the computers, they have been in existence for years, so definately due for replacement,
who knows what will become of the aforementioned, the world is evolving.

not going that way. btc isn't friendster. i have been in friendster it was gone since the time myspace and then facebook. it completely erase itself since facebook emerge and i was there. i saw everything like google waves and then shutdown. facebook took the idea of google waves and got it right.

blockchain ain't going to end that way. the king will always be the king. unless its going to be completely destroyed.
but until BTC and miners still mines, its going to be on top as it gets rarer.

Though mass adoption of cryprocurrency is the order in most social media plactform, it might be desired by cryptoenthusiast but more concern should be in the product.

It is difficult to determine the time. Too many conflicting factors. People gradually learn about cryptocurrencies. As a rule, the first cryptocurrency for them is bitcoin. In itself, this primarily supports the king of the crypto market. Projects with the best technical characteristics pretend that they are interconnected with real business, but in this case it is the turn of state structures and regulations.
I used to think that crypto would quickly take over the world. Two years have passed, little has changed in this sense. Maybe it even went away in more future time. Maybe it has become even in the more distant future.

All are possible OP so it can happen like some alts can take the lead and not Bitcoin anymore still we know this is very useful now so better to look in that like the positive of it another thing it depends how this brings so much convenience like you see we can use this in many ways that non-stop like in trading, gambling and different services so Bitcoin will be useful forever
I do not think that any Altcoins will be able to take the initiative and at least somehow they will be able to be close to Bitcoin. it sounds like a fantasy

Friendster, it was one of the booming social media before FB, right? Or am I wrong?
But well, related tot eh mass adoption, I think you're right. Everything in this world may come with some adoption, or the development of the previous types, strategies, concept, and ideas. However, as long it is better, why not? So does the BTC and altcoins in the crypto world.

With how bitcoin dominated this sphere and how those alternative projects tried to surpassed what bitcoin already achieved, being the first crypto that being acknowledged and supported will keep the position to stay on top, your given scenario OP happened indeed, but with how bitcoin followers believes that there's no threat and bitcoin will stay to be number one, there should be no arguments about that.

In principle, this is an obvious fact.100 or even 1000 people won't be able to carry out the mass adoption of the cryptocurrency.Of course, large companies should take part in this difficult task.

It is important to understand that there is a difference between social networks and cryptocurrencies. They have different purposes. I think that the top crypto-currencies have got their own product and are steadily developing it and in the future it all depends on this product
