Avoid supporting scam project

Being a newbie is not all about having activities below 30 and having merit below one here on the forum. You can still have requirements above that an still be a newbie. We don't just need to develop your bitcointalk account to increase but you ought to develop your knowledge personally as well.

 What can be considered as a scam project: this are project that mimic the features of a good, legit project in order to deceive people and make away with there funds.
Scam project are numerous it can be a gambling site, exchange, ico,  bitcoin mixer e.t.c.
 This project can not just work alone they need publication that's why they also organise bounty campaigns.
 
 As a user of this forum you need to know it's unethical to promote or support a scam project.
One can support scam project through various medium from
1. ignorance: unknowingly promoting a scam project
2. Greed and share scam intentions: knowing its a scam project and still partaking in it probably because of they offer enticing packages and some scam project doesn't pay much attention to rules of the forum. like some also allow users with negative trust to partake.

 It's very important not to promote a scam project so before joining any project do some needed check on it and there are already various ways to go about it already discussed on the forum

Scam project has in a negative way effected investors, bounty hunters, potential investors and cryptocurrency in general
Also it can stain your status and reputation and if it's very bad you can get negative tag for it

Yes it's true you can make money on the forum just carry it out  in a clean and legit manner

Well written and self explanatory. Although, many scam project promoters are victims of ignorant, and some, the inability to research about the project they intend to participate or promote.

There are members who aren't still accustom themselves with the written rules and unwritten rules of this forum, and when they are guilty of any offense they blatantly said they aren't aware of these rules.

 Wholeheartedly, many of my skills display among my equals outside here on this forum, are skills developed here on this forum, am happy to be here, and will continue to read more than doing posting, as this has drastically helped me not to get scam again unlike before i joined the forum.

Mistakes must be made the hard way before people get 'common sense'.
Perhaps a faucet should be made where in stead of doing scratchy stickers, ads and click-the-box people have to do like a quiz on crypto industry 101...

This could be promoted as THE WAY to get into crypto. If it was done well and could be supportrd like Theymos's 'Howey Coind' post it may really get coverage for lots of newbs. it could be funded by faucet sponsors, which donate in exchange for getting their altcoin published in front of the newbies. Imo its a good idea buy needs lots of community involvement.

It looks like you're describing a phishing website. A scam doesn't necessarily mean imitating another existing project (if that's what you meant here).

IMO, in general, scam project is any project that is created/started with the purpose of stealing people money without delivering an actual product. They can do this in various ways, either doing ICO, offering stocks or equity for a nonexistent company and so on. Some might also call a project as a soft scam because they failed to deliver their promises and can't offer anything to reduce their investor's loss.

You do realize that [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT is not real, right ?
I mean that the thread exists, but Howeycoins do not. The Ann thread’s intent is to show just how easily people fall for any scam of the kind, and not just specifically newbies.

Yes. My suggestion is to endorse a specific faucet that forces people to do a quiz about cryptocurrency awareness. howey coins is endorsed here because it is educational, not because its a top level product. This parallels my suggestion.

If somebody just ''made a crypto quiz faucet'' it would get not good traction. If us gov just ''made howey coins'' and hoped it was SEO'd well without getting sponsorship from social gatekeepers (like theymos and crypto websites) its effectiveness would be much lower.

Imagine if Bitcointalk required Newbie to Jr. Member upgrades to be coupled with the passing of a quiz about crypto awareness.
That would bug some people, but now imagine if that crypto awareness quiz was also a faucet, which was funded by not just donators but also projects wanting to advertise to these newcomers. This forum may or may not have any interest in that but the general idea could be applied elsewhere.

A quiz/faucet may also be a hell of a good bounty task for projects, as it would mitigate newcomers to a project from asking the same things again and again and again to the group mods. big time saver. Dont just pay the mods and marketers, pay the users to educate themselves too.

Maybe this exists but I haven't seen it. If possible, I will try to put this in practice in some medium.

Well, there are already action taken into this especially the DT's that are giving red trust on a project that has a high chance of becoming a scam project. Of course it will be needing a good evidence and this is how DT's are good at looking for it before they will give a red trust on a user that will promote scam project.

Definitely I have seen that only few users now are posting and promoting projects and besides some of them are using alt accounts or copper member newbie accounts as to avoid getting red trust from the DT if found out their project is a scam project.

I wouldn't wait for someone to tell me that the project is a scam or not because it might really be too late for me if I do so.

Iirc, there is already a thread discussing that topic tho, but not sure where it is now. The 'easiest' to make sure a project is not a scam one is too look at their team member, whether they're a real person and whether they are really involved in that project or not.

Reverse image search tool is handy for this.
