Is there perhaps a list of publicly known ones? Obviously with a caveat that not many people will share their gains publicly though if they hit it big.

The biggest one I know of is that ex hedge fund guy, Mike Novogratz, who cashed out around $250 million worth of Ether when it went up to $400.

What is a realistic max you could pull out on one of the main exchanges with tons of liquidity? Is $1B possible?

No one sells significant amounts on exchanges. They do it OTC making a private off market deal. The seller knows they can't move that amount without crashing everything. The buyer knows they can't buy that amount without sending the price soaring. Win win for both. We never get to hear about it.

Yeah, I thought something like that might happen.

Can you buy and sell privately no matter the ammount on this forum? You make a thread about it and people who are interested contact you via PM.

Of course. I sure as shit wouldn't do it but all this place is is a platform to exchange messages. No reason why you can message about deals. There's a dedicated currency exchange section.

If I had a significant amount to sell I wouldn't do it through an exchange and I wouldn't do it P2P. I'd do it through a professional OTC operation like this - https://genesistrading.com

I seriously doubt they're that liquid. This is also a good way to set off AML alarms, and will likely require going though fucktons of hoops.

Either way, I would guess that the practical max would be $10k (in the US, at least), since anything above that needs to be reported by law. For anything higher than that, other avenues would probably be better.

What's been mentioned on the Op is a big fund. To cash out ethereum or bitcoin in large volume people do go with individual traders and not the exchanges. We've got trusted platform that help in making face to face transactions with fiat. In such a way one can cash out if anonymity is no more a big problem.

Winkolvess twin obtain their first bitcoin bag from otc too. That particular deal mark the precedent to the following otc deal to come and I think it’s nearly 100,000 worth of btc in one transaction. Do the math.

Crazy rich guys.

Btw, maybe the maximum amount you can cash out from exchange would be more or less their daily volume (without crashing everything). It's unlikely you will crash the entire market but there's definitely going to be some change. If, for example, you cash out every Bitcoin that you have on Binance and it squeezes out their bid order, an exchange like Bitfinex or another middle to high volume exchange will adjust the price. On the other hand, if you crash a low volume exchange, the price in other markets would likely not change.

There is a slight difference between cahs out and exchanging.
You can cashout out all your funds in an instant as in theory (we know theory didn't work for mtgox) the exchange should already have all the money you have sold your coins for since the ones that bought your coins must have done it with deposited funds.

And if you do try to cash out a huge sum, and crash the price, again, not the exchange will suffer, it will be only your pocket.
If you break the walls and sell half of them at 1$ it will be only you who will lose and you will make a lot of people who had ordered at 1$ happy.

Again, in theory, the exchange should have all the money you sell your bitcoins for already in deposits.
If there is no money left it means no people deposit on that exchange and of course, they couldn't put buy orders without funds.
So, nobody to sell t.
