So, once someone gets the stamp, they can scan the QR Code to see which COLOR they've gotten. How would we know that sellers never scanned this already and know that it's a dud, and just want to off load it? No one here would appreciate that being done to them, I'm sure....since this is so new.... glad that I've found out some things....
seller in ebay elysiumae:
Hello, they have the size of a credit card and they all look the same from the outside and in their physical / analog form. If you scan the QR code you see which color and limitation they have. The people from the post office dont let you scan the QR codes, so every stamp is a surprise and you never know which one you get. The keys are hidden and you can scratch them clear. My random sets are not pre-scanned.
elysiumae:
No, if you scan the QR code in front of the card you just see the actual color of the digital stamp, which has a certain limitation. The ETH are hidden under a field which you can scratch clear. If you have the physical stamp you hold the public and private keys.

I bought some first day covers off ebay and was not expecting anything but the black stamps. For the other colors i bought a few random thru the post office. As for ever making a set...what are the odds? I think if you really want all colors you buy the sets available...and yes they are very expensive but at least your guaranteed you have a set. Only 1500 will ever be able to be made .

I bought several black stamps regardless of the fact that there's been so many of them printed. I think they're really cool collectible pieces. And who knows how many of them will be accidentally sent out in the mail by regular folks. Perhaps I was just FOMOing. I dont know.

I think getting a red stamp on first day cover will be the rarest of them all. First day covers are only sodl thru post office and thus are truly random imo.

Heck, even the Crypto Tokens for the LA Dogers only had 40,000 of them, they did go up in value some.... 150,000 stamps....
I know that's all to go around for the world, but still, you have to wonder what the value of these will be in a year or two. It's like knowing what
player you have, keeping the best ones, and blowing the losers out the door.

I have 2 of those physical stamps in my hands (already sweep 1 to test the redemption process) hence I can answer your questions.
Every stamp has in plain view the QR code and a 6 digit characters string. By either scanning the QR code or putting the 6 characters to the crypto stamps official website, you can see the colour (rarity) of the stamp. Hence, anyone having a physical stamp (or a picture of it) can determine the colour of it. In order to move/sweep/transfer the digital token to your own wallet, you need to scratch an area in the stamp, where the 12 words seed token private key is revealed. Every card is loaded with 1 token + a small amount of ETH (for transaction fees purposes). The above mentioned URL, provides a nice friendly user interface, where you can very easily sweep the token just by entering the 12 seed words + providing you public ETH addy. Alternatively you can load the private key (12 seed words) to any ETH supported wallet, and perform the same process manually.
Tl;dr: you cannot transfer the token, unless you scratch the area and reveal the private key. However anyone can easily view the included digital token in each physical card.
Those eBay listings that claims that you will get 10 random crypto stamps, are just liars (unless they didn't bother to scan the QR codes)

I imagine sales will drop off due to this, at least from members of the Forum here...others who do not know this will still be buying them, until the word gets out, then if the initial buyers bought with the intention of reselling, they could be left holding a lot of stamps, or dropping the prices dramatically. What an oversite by the Austria Post Office, but really, they got their money. Once sold that is. They might just as well have called it LOTTERY stamps.

Thanks for clarifying all of this. Again if i were to buy off of ebay..which I have...i am not looking or expecting the rarer colors...just getting the black stamp stamp is good enough for me...people should not expect to get a red stamp that way. I did order a few from the postal website prior to being sodl out...if i get any other color besides black..that would be nice...if not i will still be happy.

Just happy to have some of them regardless of color. I mean I still do want some of the colored ones, don't get me wrong, but owning it regardless is neat

I managed to get some from the site too, before it closed down. I'm just glad that they're virgin stamps, and haven't been passed around.
It makes a difference.
