I am trying to sell several of the GTX1080 purchased a year ago aroud range of 350-400$. Do you think these justify these prices? Newer AMD XT5700 and RTX2070 are out, I am not sure those are better mining alternatives than GTX1080? Do i expect gtx1080s to go lower in values in coming months? Thanks.,

Remember there was a lot of news even make a comparison if the top series of NAVI will be at the same tier with radeon VII (less efficient compared with VII) and as so many news and rumour explained about the 5k series will be some percent better compared with RTX series.
if the price of RX series will be very ergonomic and then that will make the NVIDIA series go to the lower value.

You don't have to sell the 1080's. I'm still running mine at full blast. They are still very efficient if you ask me. I've got a couple of 2060's which are hashing at very similar speeds for just about 10W less each, so a tad better, but nothing extraordinary. This being said, if you do manage to get $400 for your 1080's you could always consider replacing them all for new gen GPUs that cost the same or slightly more. Just don't expect them to outperform massively.

I don't get it. When some of you are buying like new GTX 1660 Ti and RTX 2060/2070. When you could get like a GTX 1070/1080 for much cheaper, used? They perform almost equal like 1660 Ti/2060, but at a much lower price. Not much diffence in power consumsion..

Atleast here in Sweden the prices of 1660 Ti is about $320ish new, and you could get a used GTX 1070 for like $210-220. Don't know how there is in other countries though. About the 1660s you also get only 6 GB so you can't mine some algos.

I like to hear your thoughts about it Smiley

I'm guessing people are going for newer GPUs because of 2 things primarily..

1. Power efficiency - when you do the math in scales, same/better hashrates with less 10 watts expense makes a world of difference
2. Risk and Resale value - newer models have less chance or breaking down and completely losing value and can easily be sold to gamers

I think now one of the best choise is GTX1070. It can bought just for 250$ and still have good performance\power consumption ratio. Until mining software don't use tensor cores of RTX GPUs with good hashrate improvement Pascal GPUs are better

They are mining pretty well so why will their value go lower in upcoming months? Especially now when mining becomes profitable again. Personally I mine with gtx 1080ti, had turned off them during bad mining days to rest GPUs and now get the most of them again. It's your choice but personally I would keep them and continue mining with those cards. jmigdlc99 also mentioned correctly but if electricity cost isn't high in your country and it doesn't make huge difference for you, then keep gtx 1080.

I see no sense now to sell nor the manners nor the farm on the cards. the growth is now just epic, it will soon be very profitable to mine, even now at this rate it is already profitable to start mining

The 1080 cards are still very good in mining and if you sell in order to upgrade in this case I think selling is justified.
If you just want to get rid of them because they are being a burden is better not to sell and keep them mining, the Grin is good on them to mine.I think the best is to keep these cards mining as bitcoin price is showing proof that it will go higher.

Beside that Nvidia cards offers better stability in mining softwares as they rarely crash while I have seen ATI cards being more prone to casual crashes.I would not sell if I were you.

I've been mining on AMD cards all my life, because they are cheaper and the hashrate is not inferior to nvidia. I think that it is better to collect 2 farm rx580 than new maps.
