Why ask us? It's completely up to you. I'm pretty sure it's not as easy to invest in an IPO though, as you'd have to register with a brokerage firm as far as I know. The process probably depends on what country you're in.

ICOs though? I don't think ICOs should even be considered nowadays.

Most of the ICOs are like a trade with extreme caution thing now a days, most of them are just used as an scamming setup by con artists.

I think any person investing his/her hard earned money in ICOs would just be called as fool in current days.

IPOs looks like a better option around ICOs, and there are some opportunities for investors to earn good profits with smart investments.

If I need to choose between ICO and IPO investments, I would ofcourse go with IPOs as per the current market.

As for ICOs, all you really need to do is visit their respective website and follow their instruction.

You risk a lot less with IPOs, considering ICOs are basically IPOs without all the regulatory mess. There might be a handful (and I wouldn't be surprised if there's literally only a handful) of ICOs worth looking into out there, but you're going to have to wade through a lot of shit, making it extremely high risk with low rewards.

don't even begin to compare ICO and IPO. just because they are both "initial blank offering" it doesn't mean they have anything in common. in IPOs there is still some level of legitimacy involved and it is not all scam but an ICO is purely scam and the people creating them don't do any work, they just copy some code and spend a minimum amount of time to create a useless token which they sell for millions! and then they go away for good doing nothing else.

I think if you are not a risk taker since you are asking it here then probably the best thing to do is to invest not in a project like this that are still on the process of listing it to an exchange. I think it is better to invest in a growing project or even projects that are working already.

You need to consider your risk profile before you start considering whether you should invest in some public offering or not. As others said, if you have a low tolerance to risk, and can't risk a lot of money, then probably investing in bonds or mutual funds is a better option. The return might not be that many but it should suit you. You can't get high return without having a big risk, but being greedy won't help you get rich either.

Lyft, Uber and other social media/apps giant definitely has some potential to grow and could give a great return, but there might be up and downs on the road. And who knows if one of them suffer the same fate as Path did.

ICOs are not regulated like IPOs. Doing an IPO requires a lot from those businesses. Everything has to undergo due diligence. Literally anyone can do an ICO with utility tokens. Be careful with those.

Haven't seen an IPO for a long time now because the last time that I saw one is with bitmain and the other ones was during 2016. The time when ICO is starting to boom but IPOs didn't.
Invest if you think if its suitable to you but don't invest if you think its not. IMO, you shouldn't invest with them anymore.

The answer is simple.  If you want to avoid possible scam, then choose IPO, at least this is regulated and have legalities in its part.  If you do not care and just wanted convenience then ICO is easier to invest in.  But no matter what your choice is, just make sure to dyor on each option.  Btw, why not look at IEO.  It is much better than ICO in some ways since developers are verified by the exchange  where they will hold their IEO.

ICO is not considered good investment these days, most of it are just copycat of another. also it's mostly short term, after u profit in one u need to find another and so on and so on. Better to invest in IPO or STO backed by good company which is IPO with less regulation

IEO is better than ICO i think, why don't you search for good IEO in some exchanges ? Always do your own research before investing.

You shall invest in initial offering and you can try to visit cryptorank to get the latest data about how much return that already brought by the latest ico in this year. There was a lot of information about the upcoming IEO or ICO too.
IPO is dead but anytime this will be the year for ICO. Don't invest in IPO but ico or ieo should be your choice.

It depends, do you know anything about investing? Have you researched those projects and did your due diligence? Do you have the right mentality and are willing to wait for a few years for your investments to give you profits? Are you willing to lose money in those investments if things do not turn out as expected? If you can answer to all of those questions positively then you could invest in those projects otherwise I will recommend that you do not do it.
