H there,

At the moment we are a group of several victims of the company Block chain dot com and we entrusted our funds to Block chain Luxembourg and lost over 400 bitcoins, this amount is worth today about 4.5 million American dollars.
We are sure we didn't do anything what could influence to the security of our wallets which were used at blockchain  com (generating paper wallets, storing passphrase, etc). In most cases we were using Apple environment (mainly newest iPhones and official blockchain app).

In the presence, we are a group of people in exactly the same situation - we lost part or all of our funds. We have lost 400 bitcoins in total on block chain dot com.
We are convinced that there are many victims in the world who are cheated in a similar way.

Please check out our video on youtube (English, German, Chinese) to get more information:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbJi2VKiXy8VIERjea_KSEw .

At the beginning of July, we will be in Luxemburg to issue a case in Luxemburg's prosecutor. Lastly, we'd like to open class action in Luxembourg Court and sue Blockchain Luxemburg (blockchain.info) for security vulnerability of their software/API or stealing people's coins. It will only be possible with many pieces of evidence about Blockchain‘s software security issues or steals.

Could you please answer our questions according to your case of losing your bitcoins:
- Has you your only been used with blockchain.com ?
- What kind of wallet was it?
e.g. (paper - with or without passphrase/hardware/generated by blockchain.info/etc.)
- Are you 100% sure your passphrase / private key were stored securely all the time and no one (not even closest friends&family) didn't have access to it?
- Could you provide us with a link to the transaction which is related to your case?
- Do you still have access to your wallet on blockchain.com?
- Do you still have your wallet address, private key and passphrase?
- How did your case end? Do you know any predictions of the real cause of your loss? (is it different than the actual status of your case?)

We will do everything to protect your privacy, but there is a possibility we would have to provide your contact details to Public's Luxembourg prosecutors. Do you agree with that?

there have been complaints and suspicions about this for years. it's impossible to prove any sort of selective scamming with so many users who haven't had coins stolen. knowing how careless users are and how easily they can get phished or keylogged, the assumption is always that it's the user's fault.

blockchain.com uses some client side encryption scheme for private key storage. it's conceivable there is some sort of backdoor.

OP, some of the scams that some users might ravage against Blockchain.com may not even be their fault but from the users carelessness. There have been phishing sites online in disguise as Blockchain and most users usually makes the mistakes of signing up with them. Just ensure that these victims truly signed up in blockchain.com and not something like blockschain.com or some adverts related to them.

Besides, you might want to move the thread to scam accusation section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0 as most victims make those complains there.

I am sorry to hear your story OP, I don’t use blockchain.com for large amounts of bitcoin myself but I did in my earlier days as a noob. I currently use the blockchain.com wallet for my signature campaign income & small amounts for gambling. I’ve personally never had a problem with them but like somebody else said above, perhaps there are selective hacks/thefts on there.

I wish you all the best with the actions you’re taking. It looks like you’re doing everything you can.

Good luck.

Blockchain.info has a long history of so-called exploits being found in their code and in some cases these exploits were reported to them by users from this forum, before coins were lost. I know one of those people transferred the coins to another secure address when he found the exploit and then he asked for proof that the coins were owned by the people claiming those coins, before he transferred it to a new secure address.  Tongue

So this might just be another one of those exploits that were found, but the person who found the exploit are not a white hat and he/she is keeping those coins. Blockchain.info/com is blaming the user for this loss, because they might do not know what the exploit is.  Roll Eyes

I don't want to go with victim blaming here, but man. With that much Bitcoin why didn't you guys just grab a reputable hardware wallet instead? I personally can't even sleep well with .1 BTC on an exchange or a custodial wallet.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with the lawsuit. That's A LOT of Bitcoin.

So far I am grateful that I have never lost anything in the blockchain wallet. so I can't give any information about the scam. There are many people who use their wallets there and this is the first time I've found a problem like this. I don't know which one is guilty but try to correct yourself first, maybe you do carelessness so you lose your funds.

interesting case. to be honest, i also interested in how a user could prove that their coins were stolen/hacked and not lying to get extra bitcoins from blockchain or any other company in this case.

nobody would know if, in the end, the other address that was supposed to be a hacker address is another address that i control, for example. this is probably the problem and dilemma if you use services such as blockchain or any other centralized or semi-centralized wallet service.

By saying hacked victims can get extra btc from blockchain or any other company, I don't think some services would do that, this kind of companies related to finance has their own terms and conditions for having no warranty of any lost/hacked assets by using such service and it will be considered as client's fault.
That's why more and more people suggest that use a wallet that you can fully control over your funds without a centralized entity.

Wow, this thread got me worried, 'cause blockchain.com is what I use for my BTC... I have a 2FA plus store my password rather safely. I just checked my balance to see whether everything is intact, and luckily I was not robbed... I will also soon receive the new Ledger wallet I won in a competition. Perhaps I should move my funds to this offline wallet, after all. At the same time, though, just today I came by a thread about money disappearing from Ledger Nano S in a mysterious way. That makes me wonder now whether there's any safe way to store Bitcoins, really. The way that gives sole responsibility to the owner. Paper wallet, I guess? Good luck with the investigation of what happened to your money!

Some of my country men have loss their bitcoin through blockchain .com, even though some tightly secure their wallet, still they still loss their bitcoin. Although 3 had use the option of SMS as 2FA as a more secured option of google authentication. If you can prove all cases against them, then go ahead. sorry for the unfortunate loss and I hope you get justice quick.

You are not the first one to complain about such activities happening with their account. I've encountered similar stories albeit different scenarios, all of which lead to lost funds. That's why I never trusted the site anymore since 2015 after knowing about the multitude of complaints regarding the said wallet service. I wonder if blockchain.com would really listen to your appeal since I don't remember anything about them responding to such complaints.

Is there a particular reason why you are using blockchain dot com? I don't see it offer much utility at all. It requires you to pay much higher fees due to them not supporting Segwit, which also means that you can't send funds to a native bc1 Segwit address.

At the same time, though, just today I came by a thread about money disappearing from Ledger Nano S in a mysterious way. That makes me wonder now whether there's any safe way to store Bitcoins, really. The way that gives sole responsibility to the owner. Paper wallet, I guess? Money doesn't just disappear from a Ledger hardware wallet. The person either bought a Ledger from a malicious website that has it already set up for him, which means that the one who set it up also owns a copy of the seed, or the person stored his seed online and it got compromised one way or another.

Blockchain.info/com is blaming the user for this loss, because they might do not know what the exploit is.  Roll Eyes
If they don't know what the exploit is that's causing people to lose funds they will disable most features until they figure out what the problem is and fix it. Binance did that too on a smaller scale by disabling deposits and withdrawals.

I do however understand where you come from with how blockchain.com hasn't shown much interest in getting rid of glitches and other bugs, but that's purely because of how they don't see them be a threat to their user's funds.

It's definitely not an excuse, but they wouldn't risk their reputation by not patching bugs that could turn out to be a threat to their user's funds. They are toxic in political sense, but not completely stupid when it comes to running their site.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

blockchainscam, i can only say good luck in an attempt to prove that blockchain.com is responsible for your losses. Each case of hacking will have to be considered individually, and I do not think it makes any sense that this is performed by blockchain.com. What you need there is independent investigators, and question is who will pay them, or what permissions should they have to access private data.

From what you wrote, it seems that the attack vector is in Apple phones in combination with official blockchain app, and the investigation should go in that direction.

I'm not sure how much this can help, but here you can read about some cases where people lost coins from blockchain wallet in very unusual ways.

Thoughts on this private key stealing mystery

Am I the only one who still doesn't understand how exactly OP lost bitcoins? Regardless, you're taking a great step to sue them in their home country. My only concern with them at the moment will be a terrible website and crappy developers who can't calculate bitcoin's network fee. Sue them too.

They claim coins are lost due "security vulnerability of their software/API" (blockchain.com), and that most of them used Apple iPhone and official blockchain app. They have to prove in court that there were vulnerabilities and exploits which made it possible for hackers to steal coins from their accounts.

Regarding fees, use custom fee option and set fee based on some popular sites which calculate fees much better then blockchain algorithm, there is no developers who watch fees all day and set Regular / Priority so users can switch off the brain and just click send.
