That only applies if you intend to peel a cass, which I would say 99% of the collectors here aren't doing.

Thanks!

What of the more casual sellers?

Speaking for myself if I had a brass one going for 1.1 BTC or less, considering the risk and hassle of selling I may well be more inclined to peel it.

I don't care if a buyer tells me the forks aren't worth it to them. I can get perfectly valid BTC for them.

I am thinking of putting a reserve on the coins - is that acceptable in this forum ? If they sell for 1 btc  + 6.5% (or even less!) I would rather keep them, cash in via priv key with any forks as well and have them as shiny conversation makers.

You can even make a hidden reserve making a sha256 of a string with your reserve (and some salt)
Then just publish the hash in the auction OP.
When  reserve is reached or auction is over then can you just publish the string for verification

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing.

Appreciate all the comments (from all) so far btw.

Face value of a silver one would be
(as of 7/2/19)

BTC 1.0     =10730 (swinging really wide today)
BCH 1.0    =404
Gold 1.0    =25
SV 1.0      =192
Silver Spot= 15
------------------------
                 $11367
thats about 1.06 BTC face value (so %6 checks out Smiley )

I am 100% against any type of abrasive cleaning.  I would accept the toning/patina as is as any attempt to improve the coin will almost certainly result in making it worse.

I would also throw in a bid if you make a public auction. I would personally not hesitate too long, the since all the fork/shit coins are bleeding badly.
