Hi all,
Last year Ive build gpu mining rigs with 8x rx580 and a hp dps 1200 Server psu by using a breakout board from China. This year id like to go for 8x radeon vii but These are very Power demanding with up to 300w per card. I can undervolt but still would like to be able to fit 8 cards in my 4U server case Nd have the ability to go full Power.
I had a look at ebay, found one of these blade Center IBM psu with 2900w but could not find a breakout board at aliexpress. Instead, I found several PSUs for mining around 80 euros even with 80+gold Standard. My question is: what would you guys go for when you need much Power supply with high efficiency at small costs?
Regards

In terms of longevity, use a server PSU as much as possible because it was built to run 24/7.
Using multiple ATX PSUs will work but most of those have less efficiency than server PSU even with 80+ Gold standard rating. But in terms of efficiency, the percentage is always the same whether you're using one or more PSUs and in the end, it will be based on the total efficiency rating.
Example: a 1000W ATX PSU with 80% efficiency could waste 20% (200W) of the energy into heat and to reach 2000W by using two, they could waste double (400W). In comparison, a 2000W server PSU with 80% efficiency could also waste the same 400W of power.

I had the same problem, ended up with ax1600i to run 6x Vega 7 per rig. Unfortunately my rig case only takes atx psus.

2400w Delta Plt PSU. Ran these for well over a year 24/7 mining without any problems. Pushed them right to 2400w as well and still ran. Excellent Server PSUs and exactly what you need.

You guys know any seller based in EU so shipping doesnt take too long? maybe only for breakout boards? I found some PSUs on ebay. If there are none I guess Ill go with parallelminer.com: How long will shipping take?

Shipping you are looking at 1 week for it. I would get breakput boards and all from them, reliable seller. Btw hence you from germany check out inter-tech mining cases : https://www.inter-tech.de/en/products/ipc/server-cases/4w2-mining-rack, good price if you live in germany ! Myself Sweden so with shipping around 150 euro, i believe in germany they have free shipping so around 100 euro.

Those cable have 0,75mm² cables which would give u 6A max power = 1380watts then lets say you keep within 80% = 1104 watts Just make sure you plug in your gear electronically the right way and you should be ok.

guys, i have some concerns about wether this fit into my already given case. I came up with the idea to just use 2x dp1200 from my old rigs. I can save time and money. I thought I might use one of these
thoughts?
Multi PSUsetup is pretty easy with server PSU's since you do not need to short the psu's to start etc. Just connect them using individual cables, dont bother with fancy cable/connector multiplexers. Power on the psu's one by one, the PSU powering the picoPSU connected to the motherboard should be powered last. If you want a proper solution instead of trying it yourself, get the PSU packages that Finsky offers on these forums : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=966135https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1308296

i was talking about dual server psu hp dps1200 i love the cheap platinum efficiency and durability of server psus I use 2x DPS-1200 PSUs for my power hungry rigs. Without any problem. Half of the GPUs on each PSU. And I use picoATX, or a completely separate cheap ($15) ~400W ATX for the mobo+ssd. The only potential problem is if the ATX turns on 1-2 seconds earlier than the DPS and the mobo powers up with no power on the GPUs yet so the cards won't get detected. But I got a simple solution also for that. A little LC delay loop soldered to the green ATX wire, that gives a few second delay before the mobo turning on.

I power my pico psu by the dps1200 (custom soldered) so that wont happen. I am only worried a bit that putting one psu on another might increase temps and shorten lifetime of the psu...

I have when the farm was I connected through 2 power supplies, it is cheaper than buying one large capacity. for example two-for-three at the 800w or 700w.

with China's order the power supply, there is a special under mining sharpened. power is different, but the prices are certainly not cheap. as an option you better put two power supplies
