Help me please ! My computer - MacBook Air ...my Bitcoin Core is installed on an external 500 GB disk, recently my son pulled out USB without closing the wallet program! Now I can't make transactions - my password is not true! I have copy wallet.dat and I tried to replace Vallet.dat but it did not help What should I do yet?

If you are 100% sure that your password is correct try salvagewallet.

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/52367/how-does-salvagewallet-work/52374

I will say that most of the time the bad password is just that, a bad password. But if the wallet.dat is corrupt it might be having other issues. I have seen it do other odd things.

Can you post the tail of your debug log.

You can't run salvage wallet from the console you have to run it as a command when you start bitcoin.
Not sure how you do it on a mac.
On a PC it's just changing the shortcut from "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" to "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe -salvagewallet"

A mac person can probably help a bit more.

In a PC in the same folder as your wallet.dat you should also a debug.log file. I am guessing it's in the same spot on a mac.
Check that file around the time you tried to send the transaction and see what it says.

--> before doing ANYTHING ELSE MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR WALLET.DAT FILE OFF YOUR MACHINE. Use a USB stick. Do not play with your wallet.dat if you do not have a backup.

DaveF is correct back up the wallet.dat file before trying to do anything with it you don't want to cause any damage to it and not have the original backup there.
Are you 100% the password is correct?   I had a similar issue when I had my wallet and chain folder on a external HD and it was closed unexpectedly and I just cleared my chainstate folders and lock file restarted the machine and it worked.

FYI has anyone else has this issue with passwords and unexpected closes of core on USB drives?

But again before you do anything back up your wallet.

You need to post as much of it as you can. Everything you have given so far is irrelevant to the wallet.

No, The chainstate folder is completely irrelevant to the wallet. There is no reason to remove it. MagicByt3 is wrong.

Are you absolutely sure the password is correct? Type it out in a text editor so you can see it then copy it into Bitcoin Core. It is highly unlikely that the encryption key in your wallet got corrupted unless the drive was pulled in the middle of the encryption or passphrase change process.

magicbyt3 - thank you

Well if you read my post it said I had a similar issue and I was explaining what I did and the steps I took when doing it.
I didn't say go find the folder and delete it I was passing on the steps that I took when I had a similar issue turned out to be the lockfile that was the issue in my case.

The reason I deleted my one was the chainstate folder had become corrupted as the software was running when the HD was pulled and it caused issues.

My apologies thought only sharing the steps I took.  Hope you solve your issue.

Now I'm not sure that I enter the correct password! For more than a year I did not make a transaction and did not enter a password.

It will do no harm to re-syncing other than some lost time.
Relax when dealing with your wallet take some time to think about the password.
Get a pen and pad and start to write the combinations you think are possible.

If it was a long time ago then try recall what you were thinking about at the time you used the wallet it may help jog the memory.
