Bitcoin already IS an alternate payment option. It's being added to multiple payment systems like every day. Those who try it become impressed by the simplicity and fast speed of the whole process. It encourages more and more payment processors add bitcoin as an option. I believe soon we'll be able to pay for everything we need with bitcoin.

Just a month ago, giants like Starbucks, Nordstrom, Whole Foods, and AT&T announced that they accept cryptocurrency as a payment option.
With the  popularity that cryptocurrency is growing there is no doubt that it will soon be among other payment methods. Especially for the international payments, with its ridiculously low fee and time taken for inter-border transfers it is surely the favorite among the traders.
Also, with giants accepting it as a payment option there is no other need to prove its authenticity.

Do you own any cryptocurrency yet?

In times like these, one can really see that cryptos are not very appropriate for small transactions. At least, Bitcoin definitely isn't. You buy 1 coffee in Starbucks for 3 dollars, and pay the same in fees, also waiting for half an hour for the transaction to receive the first confirmations? However, you are right about solid international money transfers. It is indeed very fast and cheap to send money in BTC in these cases. And there are banks that realize it and utilize this feature of blockchain already.
I, of course, support the wider recognition of Bitcoin as payment in various areas, but we really need something for small transactions. At least, wider adoption of the Lightning network.

Due to moving adoption I'm sure it will able to reach that one.It is already been used as an alternate payment option yet its been capable
on giving out payments with ease and directly p2p.Some companies already recognized that one but there are still lots of them do still hesitates.

if a certain infrastructure is created, then Bitcoin can definitely be a real means to pay bills and to use them in everyday life.  But it seems to me that Bitcoin’s volatility stands in the way of implementing this idea.

It is an option that's for sure. The only weak point of bitcoin as a payment option is its acceptance. It is an option you can use but every 1 per 100 stores will allow you to do it.

Maybe the question should be rephrased to when will bitcoin be a widely available payment option? The answer is nobody knows Cheesy Maybe in 2 years but maybe never. It can be a popular savings solution but never be a commonly used payment system.

As fiat merchants discover the benefits of using cryptocurrencies, I have no doubt cryptos will be a more preferred form of payment over fiat as we are seeing some of industries big companies ready to accept cryptocurrencies.
And as far as I can tell cryptocurrencies have more benefits that sellers will enjoy more than the buyers.

Cryptocurrency is slowly but surely making its way into our society even though there still much progress to be done, it is still a huge progress that we have made considering how a new concept and a new technology it is, i that it won't be too long before we see it in every store, especially since next year we will see Facebook launching their Libra coin which i have a hunch that it will be usable as a payment methods outside of Facebook since they are a huge company and have the ways and the ability to do so.

Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency has been used as an alternate payment option before in some businesses. The only difference is that these bigger company names don't want to get involved in any cryptocurrency as a payment option yet. And now look at them, they might back if they see the transaction fees during the bull run and i know some company retreating because they can't handle the volatility and the transaction fees.

There is the possibility of most companies accepting Bitcoin as their payment method. Sooner than later this payment methods or method will be implemented, hope this will lead to the adoption of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general. The future is very close to us than we could imagine.

It just the beginning. I think that in the future, other large companies will also begin to accept payment in bitcoins. It just takes time.

It is a hassle to wait for a confirmation.  Maybe it isn't an issue on cheap purchases where they can take the risk but if it is a significant amount the merchant will surely want to wait for at least one confirmation.  As we have seen in the past, you either have to wait a very long time or pay a ridiculous fee when the network gets congested.

So far, some altcoins are available to be alternative payment methods. However, not all of them are accepted. I think that it will be available again as we see that cryptocurrency is more popular and trusted. But, of course, it should be the trusted one, with most valuable rate.

It's already an alternative payment means, many service providers are currently accepting not only bitcoin but some other coins like LTC, ETH and BNB. In the coming years, there would have been massive adoption.

I think bitcoin will be an alternative payment method in the transaction or business because of the ease of transaction and can minimize the cost in the transaction both local and international, however there are still some countries that ban the use of bitcoin as means of payment in transactions. I'm sure they will follow if the majority of countries in the world allow people to use bitcoin as a means of payment because developed countries would definitely follow the development of times and technology

I do own some coins and i do believe that it happen soon. Starbucks can be a good addition but i think its not possible yet since they are still not accepting bitcoin or altcoins here in my place, but some local coffee shops already using it. Cryptocurrency will be a good alternative as a payment option.

there are already many shops and companies that accept payments using cryptocurrency, it seems that the number of stores interested in joining will increase even it seems that they are still considering several aspects.
shop owners seem to be still in doubt about cryptocurrency payment, if the crypto use trend is increasing I'm sure they will definitely follow it. so the cryptocurrency goal as an alternative payment method is reached.
