It has become clearly evident that bitcoin will dominate the world as the global number 1 cryptocurrency, that's is OK with me.
BUT...
what I am finding really frustrating is all the retail, and institutional money that will only ever flow into bitcoin and will never, ever touch any altcoins.
Sure bitcoin is the master, the supreme, the original crypto, but for gods sake, its now the only cryptocurrency.
Surely out of the 2000+ altcoins, some of these will be almost as powerful as bitcoin.

The altcoins have been smashed of late, purely by the greed of bitcoin, sucking up the global fiat money.

Every altcoin has been sold off and money shoveled into bitcoin.  WHEN IS THE PAIN GOING TO STOP!

I have lost so much money on my altcoin HST decision token, purely based on the greed of bitcoin.

Please as an altcoin investor, please stop hurting us, this is so damn cruel.

think the alt coins will lose even more before they start gaining again, btc is to hot right now i understand why people are selling of alts to buy more btc, its a no brainer pretty much.

First and foremost, before ever putting a penny into Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, you should set aside some time to research and understand what the technology is, what value it provides its users and society at large, and what makes it so special relative to the systems and solutions that came before it. This usually takes at least one read-through of Satoshi's whitepaper and a fair amount of supplemental Googling.

There are, of course, exceptions to this rule... but you have to do your own research, patiently and calmly evaluate both sides of any given argument, and make a sincere effort not to get caught up in FOMO. Rushing into significant financial decisions is never a good idea; you have to be careful and think critically.

the risk level in altcoins including ethereum is always higher than bitcoin.putting all your egg in one basket is also another risk, so you never educate yourself as trader enough, because bitcoin is enjoying the ride now does not mean yours wont rise later except its shittier than all other altcoins

Dear friend ,everything that is happening now with bitcoin and altcoins is just the first steps to the top of independence from Fiat money ,and rebuilding them by tying them to the person in the world.So bitcoin will not last long (by the way, he already lives only thanks to a dozen large informal exchanges).The pain will go away it's just money .

Today is an exact example of what I am talking about, bitcoin dumps and the altcoin I am holding HST decision token, dumps too. Double dump, thanks to the massive rise and fall of bitcoin HST decision token is now affected both ways from bitcoin.

Do you know what market cycle is? Please learn about it and it may give you some relief. To get more relief, read this news article but don't rely on it.

Imo, the current alt market is perfect for accumulation. If I had some more spare BTCs then I'd have bought some more alts.

You are the one who has to adjust on how to deal with the market's behavior rather than the "market will adjust for your own sake". Build experienced and analyze what's wrong on your strategy on the way. Trading is not as easy as 1,2,3 and you must not expect that every wind should go on your desired direction.

You should know that alt coin is a very risky investment, and its only being used for speculation and trading,eventually the investors will dump alt coin and back to bitcoin, if you see the market is not too good for alt just cutloss, because once it goes down it will be hard to bouncrle back, and stop playing with alt if you dont have the basic knowledge about crypto

No... altcoins are not risky investments, its bitcoin that is making the altcoins more risky by its erratic up and down movements.   

Massive moves up in bitcoin crashes altcoins and massive moves down in bitcoin, crashes altcoins.  There is no more risk investing in altcoins as there is in bitcoin, both have equal risk.

I do lost a large sum of money during the peak alt period, and before i realized it was too late (80% lost), still i do reflect and make some adjustment later on, a fatal point is i treat market as too kind during a reversal period, i afraid of selling and FOMO for gains, but in fact many projects are really overvalued if you look at in, when cryptomarket is getting mature, people will start giving accurate perceptions of a product value. An altcoin might just not worth that previous 100M and it should be at it is now. Humans are running the trades anyway its undeniable that fiats are influencing the price, and big players are investing small money and they will continue to bleed out alts.

Many alts might seems bottomed out, or are they? if you want to come back in the recent years, you need to do more to re position again

I think not all Altcoins investors are having the same feelings like yours mate. And your not the only investors who lost so much money here, and perhaps as an investors we have our own view about in altcoins. Like me, for what I understand in altcoins every time I will decide to buy em there is always risk, meaning I am aware about this things, which is when bitcoin goes up it is normal that most altcoins goes down, just simple as that.

Have you seen the HST market charts lately? Sorry to say this, but I don't think it will survive along with bitcoin. I know, the price is disappointing to those who invested but are there really developments going on in this project? I'm curious why the price chart is in steady decline. And the OP is frustrated with bitcoin because of this situation? I don't get it. It is not the fault of bitcoin why that project is going nowhere. Try extracting information from the dev team who created that project.

They want to own bitcoin over other currencies and altcoin is only invested when they are supported by large organizations. Bitcoin and ethereum are converted to cash more easily than any altcoin so if they want to profit they have to bring it to bitcoin or ethereum first.  Don't complain, learn.
