it will make more inefficiencies, create jobs (more accountants and co) and diminish the power of the warlord ruling this. And when instagram as another corporate entity will compete against facebook and whatsapp and both against all, backed by a strong social consensus that only one app provider is a bad idea, a more thriving, innovative and competitive ecosystem can be created ! who will win is the question, and then again, break the winner Smiley.

the convenience of the wild boar who starts to like the corn in the gated field, until he becomes a pig... (who knows, maybe the pigs are distinct Smiley). Don't be the pig of zuckerberg !!! or the others warlords of the silicon valley... they want captives, not free thinking human beings !

do you want to be energy devices in the matrix they build or free humans beings? the AI will help you both way... as non being you can only be drown to the lie life... and so pacified... who knows Smiley.

These three apps are the best products on the market.
This is the reason why people use these products and not others. So it is very difficult to break this monopoly. Only if something new that is a lot of better than the current apps will push people to starting using new products and diminish the old ones.

lol as those 3 softwares are independent from each others it's the perfect thing to splitt ! furthermore I wouldn't be surprised that it was anticipated by the warlord in chief... he keeps his share in the 3... Smiley.

no, they are not the best... it's just that the dumb corporate world jumped on it and push it to high heaven to even become trapped by it...

this break up is just a liberation event...

would you have broken up AT&T? Would you find okay if a telecom company cut your phone line because you are expressing an opinion they don't like? by splitting the facebook, and the others later... will see what it does to the management there...

one sure thing against the warlord in chief, it's way better to not plan, but simply execute one part of the plan, and see how it goes... facebook (+messenger) v. what's app v. instagram... 3 distinct corporate entity. will he keep his share in the 3? that's the part most interesting... and who knows, the 3 could still grow bigger !!! who knows... it's just a reminder to the empire that, messing with politics by censoring worldwide was already too much... this line should have never been crossed, and it's just a small but firm warning...

Break the Monopoly? And how exactly do you propose this to happen? I think a lot of Americans have been fooled to think that the seat of power in US sits at Washington D.C. Wrong, it lies with companies that bankroll the parties and their candidates in elections. If you think the SEC can muscle out with Facebook and emerge victorious, you are mistaken my friend. All that congressional drama is fine but the moment they move to do something that endangers the very existence of these giants, they would pack their bags and move their business to some other country. The only reason the companies agree to the entire preaching from senate is because they know that the customers believe in the structure of democracy and any such falling out (on privacy concerns) would lead to a significant loss of users.

Any competing platform will just be bought up by Facebook anyways.  A lot of people create companies with their main goal being to sell it to a bigger one and not actually see it through till the end.  The power that Facebook and Google hold is terrifying.

I find it unlikely, unless there's a really large public outrage.

These three apps are the best products on the market.

That's the reason Facebook bought them up. Even if it was forced to break these apart, what would stop them from acquiring new companies?
